Yet Another AQo hand.
2/5 cardroom, 8 max, $1200 max
I just sat down to a game that kicked off an hour earlier. I matched the largest stack at $1K which is odd there were no full BI stacks or better. I folded the first deal, second deal I find AQo in UTG.
V = MAWG, $800 in BB. I've never seen him before. He folded pre the prior hand so I have absolutely no read on him.
I open to $20 and it folds around to V who calls. 4x is the standard EP open in this game, but there is a nice hi hand promo so the room has lots of non reg faces. I know only 2 players at this table.
Flop ($40) = 9TJr
V x, H $35, V c without any hesitation.
Turn ($110) = 9TJ5 with 2 to a flush I do not block.
V x, H $65, V c, again without pause.
River ($240) = 9TJ55, no flush.
V x.

Your thoughts on bet sizing?

If you bet, it needs to be very big.
My feeling is that quick calls are often draws where thereβs nothing to think about. With any kind of value, they would pause to consider raising or other options.
Therefore, I like barreling this guy
The question is sizing
You want it to look like value, so you canβt jam - but you donβt want to bet so little that he just throws it in there. Maybe 150-200
This could surely blow up in your face, but I canβt tell you how many times the 3rd barrel brings folds. Many times I sit there thinking itβs not going to work this time and villain finds the fold.
I like an OB, can u just shove here? 300 is also fine
Turn sizing should be larger, plenty of value hands we would want to go larger to as well. Your size as played is not putting enough pressure pair + gutter, would size up to at least pot to start pushing these hands towards indifference. River is not mandatory bluff, but if we are firing the river shell would not use small amount. $275+ looks reasonable.
No offense, but stabbing huge on the turn and then betting smaller on the turn brick is kind of a fish line and really looks like a weak hand IMO. Turn should be way bigger. I also think these is zero shame in checking back one or even both streets with this hand.
As played, you kind of need to bet river, and probably need to bomb it, because he calls turn with every pair plus SD hand and will fold a lot to a chunky sizing.

You get the coveted attaboy for best read.
Yes, my turn bet was too small. I didn't think he would fold river and his later play proved me right. He lost most of his stack later with TPGK. He checked river and I didn't bluff. He showed KJ for the TP plus gutter.
