NBA 2025-26 Season Thread: THE NY KNICKS ARE CHAMPIONS! BING BONG!
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
If the Warriors take Nate Ament, it will be another huge draft **** up.
Draft is kind of boring when there are no trades
I think this is highly overblown. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him play the entire season with the Celtics.
Yeah, the Celts may be willing to deal him. But finding a trade they like is another story. I think it was probably Giannis or bust as far as moving Jaylen.
On another note, I donβt know much about Hannes Steinbach. But heβs a rebounding machine with a high motor. And we need more big men.
Heat's move reminds me of the Nets win now moves that didn't pan out or the Knicks (melo). It's still better to make that move than not but sometimes it just doesn't work out so well. That said, the heat make splashes and it usually works out for them (butler got them to the finals, shaq got one, the big three, alonzo mourning, etc)
That said, the heat make the finals when they're not a top seed (last two finals they made were 8 and 5 seeds) and as noted they tend to find random guys to fill in fine.
Way more teams than I remember at this point still have to make moves to fill out a roster. OKC doesn't have roster spots for all these picks (they're clearly keeping the picks so someone is the odd man out, I'd guess dort if it's possible for them). Heat still need all the guards. Whatever in the world the bulls are doing.
It's hard to trade a superstar and get good value, Brown was the much better player but they'd be in the same spot a year from now or whatever. Heat had the most spare parts to offer and some guys are solid players it's just that's not going to contend in the east but they could get into the playin with those guys. Value is just hoping like the nets eons from now those picks end up great, though the heat rarely have been a bad team the last 35 years.
Derozan apparently going to be just cut, he's still a good player (actually 2pt hit equilibrium with 3pt attempts earlier in the year, so he's valuable again once teams realize that his style of play is still fine if you have the rest of the lineup for it) but there just aren't enough teams with enough room to trade for him that is also a good idea for them to do. Lavine nope but the heat atm are just about willing to take any guard who can produce points on a min vet contract if he gets cut so there's that option.
I also would be surprised if the Celts move Jaylen among other reasons like there's no package that'll be worth what he is right now, this season was supposed to be the punt season and got the 2 seed and this next season trying to win it all.
Draft was also an issue in that the top 8 were basically already set in stone. There's going to be a flotsam of role players rest of the first round so it's not exciting after that.

The Celtics clearly weren't hell bent on trading Jaylen. The last reports said that the Celtics' best proposal was Jaylen and two picks, both of which very well could end up worthless. They weren't willing to include Hugo Gonzalez.
Sergio De Larrea
F 6'5"175 lbs Spain
14 POS RK
30 OVR RK
Pre-Draft Analysis
Strengths: De Larrea is an unselfish playmaker and capable shooter. He has the skills and size to play on and off the ball.
Weaknesses: He isn't the quickest or strongest, which limits some of the ways he can create his own shot and put pressure on the paint. He doesn't have a great athletic advantage defensively.
The verdict: De Larrea had a strong season at Valencia before opting to stay in the draft, presenting a potential stash option in the late first round. His feel, skill and size are a good fit for the modern NBA and should scale well into a role if he can hold his own defensively. -- Woo
Post-Draft Analysis
The Knicks were the team most rumored to be interested in De Larrea, who is expected to remain in Spain next season as an overseas stash. This move saves New York money in the short term but also gives the team an intriguing long-term depth option. De Larrea has excellent size and feel and could eventually be featured in the Knicks' rotation. -- Woo
McLove the pick. 20 years old, 21 in december
Pretty boring draft overall
Dybantsa will be better than Prime McGrady
Anyone else notice Ant has by far the best non-rookie deal itl?
If youβre the Spurs do you offer Minny Harper/Castle, after hiring Hurley first ldo.
I like the guys the Hawks got.
This Kingston Flemings guy could be really athletic, and special.
My personal thoughts now on Castle/Harper/Picks/Salary for Antman:
Pairing Anthony Edwards with Victor Wembanyama would instantly create the most terrifying duo in the NBA for the next decade. Edwards gives Wemby the explosive, elite perimeter dynamic the Spurs need, while Wemby handles the interior. It would cost the Spurs their entire depth and future asset pool, but for a top-5 player who fits Wembanyama's timeline perfectly, it's the ultimate "all-in" move.
Mechanically, it is entirely possible and if Minnesota's front office keeps cutting costs, the Spurs have the exact pieces to make the call.
agree on Jaylen being hard to deal, I'm not the biggest fan of Sengun or potential port/hawks packages but where there is smoke there is obviously fire. Guy is a legit top 10-12 player in the league. Still probably make it like 50/50 he gets dealt, similar to kalshi odds.

if Giannis knew how to run it like a boss player empowerment era type then they wouldn't have had to give so much.
We'll see what happens though.
Problems happen, of course, but I really wonder how much longer this site will continue. Sites that people actually give a **** about don't have problems that go on for days and days.
yeah, the outages seem to be getting progressively longer and more frequent. probably not a good sign. where yall gonna go next, up? reddit? bluesky? other?

We just got robbed.
It's possible that it ends up being a terrible deal for both sides, but we basically traded Melo for Naz Reid, an unprotected 1st in 7 years and 3 2nds. Maybe things don't work out for Minn and some of those 3 swaps works out for us, but I won't bank on any swap equity 2-4 years out. Minn starting lineup will be insane, and Melo will be good for freeing up Ant.
Melo is worth more than that. We just had one of the best runs in franchise history, as sad as that is. We've been staying patient with Melo for 6 seasons now and finally looked like it might all be coming together, to ship him off for hardly any immediate return. Clearly the team wants to build around Kon and Miller, but part of both of them being so good this year was Melo. We also created the largest trade exception in league history at $41 mil, so maybe there are more moves to come.
I think it was about money, about Melo's questionable health, and about Melo's defense never being good enough to actually compete for a ship.
As a reference, the best offensive rating in the league was Den at 121.
We didn't get enough.
