DBBP Flop: Bet to Deny Equity? To Bluff? Or Check to Realize Equity?

$50 bomb pot, 6 players

Pot 252 (after time collection)

Flop 1: 998 (rainbow)
Flop 2: 752 (two clubs)

SB fish checks (2k stack)
BB pro checks (8k)
MP fish checks (3k)
HJ new player checks (2.5k)
CO fish checks (3k)
BTN Hero has JJ95 badugi (3k)

If I bet small, I can deny equity to weak hands and draws.

If I pot, I can steal equity from better hands on bottom and sometimes a better hand on top.

If I check, I can avoid getting check-raised when I have decent equity on both boards.

Hero?

I learned a $300 dollar lesson playing $3 DBBP at the Venetian a couple weeks ago: dont play one way hands. That said, potting from the button hoping they all fold likely isn’t terribly wrong.

Both the $3 & $10 games were nittier than Betsy Ross. Maybe I could get an invite to the home games javanewt plays in though. πŸ™„πŸ˜†

It's not just that you have a one way hand, it's that you are way behind any 9 on your good board. Having pairs when you flop trips is very bad. The overpair is kind of good on the "bad" board vs. one person, but not enough you'd want to put a lot of money in.

...on the BTN I don't mind betting smaller, or even checking. Even when betting small though, if you get x/r it almost has to be a fold. Betting big seems like a bad bluff.

I've also heard that DBBP-only games (at Venetian and Caesars) are super nitty. But the once-per-dealer $50 DBBP hands at Aria are looser than a street hooker. The hands that get to showdown in big potsβ€”even from good playersβ€”blow my mind.

Yeah I kind of don't like betting pot to bluff in this game either. So I was torn between betting small (and folding to a check-raise) and checking to see what develops on the turn.

I’m starting to think that trips with rag kickers on one board with not much on the other are the equivalent of SSCs OOP in NLHE.

I was going to take a shot in that game after having a score at the Orleans, but had before the trip planned to use a score for a WSOP event.

$2500 O8/Stud8. Hand 2 is Christopher Vitch, three bracelets. Hand 3 was AQ47, held by a fellow who didn’t come all that way and spend that much money to enter and then just sit there and fold.

It was good the first few weeks of the WSOP. Now it's littered with Euro pros. Some of them have moved down from 25/25.

Maybe that’s where amok’s been.
