To be fair your lot wasn't exactly playing free flowing football in 2010 or 2014. Don't know if it was unpopular even then, but it always looks worse when it doesn't work. I guess that's the criticism you open yourself up to.

But the answer to that isn't to blunt everything that makes you dangerous going forward against a side that's capable of creating chances against a low block. You have at your disposal Reijnders, Gravenberch, de Jong, Koopmeiners, Gakpo and Summerville with Brobbey showing well, and your solution is to go 5 at the back (which you haven't done all tournament), get run over in the MF, and make all your attackers defend instead?

Maybe I was harsh on the 2010 team yeah, and 2014 had Robben to provide the juice. That's the other thing with the Dutch, they used to have plenty of offensive stars every tournament and that just vanished.

I looked it up, they're 16th now. They're definitely better than some teams listed ahead of them based on watching these games but ranking systems are always flawed to some degree.
