Being in Paris when France scores in the World Cup is not too shabby

dembele standing on the spot holding the ball for mbop to take the pk ..... they're just fully leaning into the dictator thing at this point huh

It's been meta for a while now for some teams. Always seems a bit weird but there must be a benefit or something to do it.

they stand on the spot because the other team tries to mess with it

And the taker doesnt have to deal with opponents talking to them or messing with them because now they do it on the stooge

Paraguay doesn't have a yellow card in this game. France has 2. Unless VAR makes them most of these refs aren't calling anything.

Haramguay aiming for lowest xg of the entire tournament

That was an impressive double save

none of this **** comes easy in a WC

Galarza should've been carded like 15 times this tournament.

I wanted to root against france but dear god these paraguay players are insufferable

Galarza gotta be the dirtiest haramballer at the WC.

Gotta respect the craft, that was well executed

Perfect getafe player

0-3 in yellow cards is just abysmal

tbf so are the french

Ref was lol bad. He should go and join Tori Penso on the sidelines for the rest of the tournament.

CAN manager Jesse Marsch in the postmatch news conference

"We were better. We were better than the No. 7 team in the world today."

I thought of a movie like 1977 slap shot where a struggling european soccer team decides to go full goons but we just saw paraguay do it so. If they don't get VAR'd, this game might still be going on.

tomorrow:

brazil vs norway (in east rutherford)
mexico vs england (in mexico city)

can mexico advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1986 ??

Yes

absolutely

Mexico England is just a pure coinflip. England technically much better but huge situational disadvantage and a pretty shambolic defense at times.

I'm hoping for a barnstormer in NJ but I do think Vini tears the RB (Ryerson?) a new one enough that they can't keep up.

Grunch

Ugly American here that has thoroughly enjoyed watching (and betting) on the World Cup. This game is unwatchable bull ****. Flopping VAR crap. Makes it hard for a casual to really want to get into futbol.

BTW watching France v Paraguay a little behind live.

canada's coach has a take after the game

"I'd rather be us than them" They're still in the tournament and you're not you realize that right.
