On the Pride Parade thing I had a friend post about a pride parade this year were the men were walking completely naked and thought that cant be true kids attend these events . Yet it was true as it was Seattle. Disgusting that they allow it

A funny thing is that Uke was fine with me posting here when I was agreeing with him.

Another funny thing is that the post I responded to was a post comparing the US and Canadian economies. As an American, it seems odd that my addressing that topic would be considered out-of-bounds for me to discuss.

There is this funny phenomena where conservatives endlessly search across the entire country - or multiple countries in this case - to find an example of something that edges just a bit “too far” for their conservative views then they can focus on that edge case and herald it up as an example to denigrate the entire movement. What exactly the edge case “think of the children” examples have changed over the years, but the phenomenon hasn’t.

But you missed the point entirely, about this whole phenomenon of focusing your political engagement with finding outrage in edge examples from multi-country wide searches. As long as somewhere, sometime, there is some pride parade where some participant acts in a way you don’t personally approve of based on your personal views, then you will be there centering conversations about pride on those types of examples. Back in the day the “think of the children” might be just two dudes kissing, but people acted just as you did then.

I tried, but didn't find even one example of him admitting being wrong. (n.b. which of course doesn't mean that has hasn't; I just searched certain key words in his posts that might suggest an admission of being wrong about something.)

Also in case you all aren't paying attention, Carney is flooding the zone right now. The BC MOA. The new pipeline announcement. The new submarine announcement. Undoes the prior era of senate appointments. Like just today we had yet another conservative MP leave the caucus to end up being appointed by Carney to the Senate in what was previously a super close riding - potentially strengthening the majority even more. Most people are paying attention to Canada but Carney is doing a LOT all at once and very fast. Good and bad. Right and wrong.

I saw a while back a clip where he was asked what was one thing he appreciated about Trump and he explicitly listed how effective trump was at flooding the zone to get a lot of things through.

Only thing I'm paying attention to is life is not getting cheaper but more expensive.

As inflation is effectively always positive in almost every developed country, if this is your only political engagement you are going to remain not just ignorant but perpetually disappointed. Canada has actually done fairly decently on the inflation front compared to peer countries over the last several years. But in truth, the month-to-month cost of living numbers particularly on food are often fairly far outside of government control, the fuel price increase due to Iran for instance has more impact than probably every new Carney policy put together.

Given your core issue of immigration, you should actually be a bit happy here. Both asking rents and house prices have dropped as Canada's population declines.

This is odd. I don't personally think anything. The deals were super huge and complex with many benefits and weaknesses to each. Being able to fully understand and adjudicate them is quite beyond a lay person's ability to judge. I have no idea if Carney make the right decision here. Why on earth are you claiming he made the wrong one?

For the record, I NEVER claimed that Uke hadn't admitted being wrong about something. In fact, I performed my search hoping to find an instance in which he HAD admitted being wrong.

And yes, I love being the center of attention in every thread I participate in! I'm glad someone finally noticed.
