** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
If I was a Belgium manager I would just make **** up at this point.
Seems like they play like crazy when they have something to hate.
Honestly Belgium had looked pretty poor overall until last night but fair play to them they turned up when it mattered. Made Balogun serve his suspension on the pitch.
You know the world is upside down when Dutch people start rooting for Belgium. Trump effect on full display.
Honestly you'll struggle to find a Dutch person with hatred of Belgium
They are really kind people
At least the north half that speaks Dutch
The south half speaks French, acts French so basically are French
Those we dont care for
This should be the end of him imo
All of the host countries ko'd before the quarters is pretty lame for both them and FIFA. Out of the three Mexico were by far the best imo as they went out guns blazing giving England a great game.
USA got their best ever side, playing well, top of their group. WC going smoothly. Rebuilding a lot of bridges with friendships and cultural exchanges between the fans.
Trump gets involved...
Media circus. Blatant corruption. Huge international backlash against the team. Pariahs again. Team plays like absolute poop.
He really does have the Merdeas Touch!
In retrospect, I think the Balogan reinstatement was neutral at best and perhaps a net negative for the U.S. because of the circus you describe. But given the difference in quality, it's hard to believe that anything related to Balogan mattered much to the ultimate outcome.
go birds
That was stellar defending
Lolol go Egypt
Damn Messi
the amount of high stakes penos this guy has missed - especially in international football
time to stop buddy
another argument for the fouled player to take the peno - you always have the megastar chasing goals who will stubbornly want to take them
cant help but root for messi, but i'll take egypt in the semis if we get there..
no pessi, ethical goals only. what a great guy
lol Messi. Everyone trashes Ronaldo for having an ego and demanding starts, not sure Messi should be demanding pens now.
Really been a struggle for Argentina last couple of matches, even if they scam their way through here they aint beating France in a final this time.
What's up with all these random start times? I guess FIFA want the biggest audience, but all of the knockout games in Qatar started at 6 and 10 pm local time.
Kinda lame to screw the hosts time zones with early times.
Still think Argies take this, but man they have looked nervous.
Colombia will beat them next round I'd say.
looks like he's 87/109 (80%) for his club career, and 20/24 (83%) for argentina. 2 of his 4 misses have come in this tournament, all 4 have come in world cups, and he's missed some big ones in shootouts as well. seems fair to say he isn't immune to pressure in these moments

It's quite confusing for me, but I thought it would make sense locally with the different US time zones? I know (almost) as little about North American geography as the USeans do about Europe

I'm pretty sure he missed at least 1 in a high-pressure Copa America environment (final vs Chile if I remember well)
