** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
Argentinian Oprah ref
Stop showing us replays - we wanna see the fighting on the bench
Absolute cinema.
I really didn't think the Argies had it in them.
soft ass ref

this ref seems like a major **** ..... well he is french, so kinda redundant there
Insane comeback
why do yellow cards to the bench even exist - complete waste of time
unbelievable amount of drama in the argentina games these last two world cups. they are not winning this one though
obv messi is shoot-first, but he's also a great passer and playmaker, so it's weird that it's always of been like this. playing with great forwards obviously (higuaín, tevez, di maria, aguero, lautero, alvarez, etc) but it never seems to work as well as you'd think on paper.

Higuain is the reason Messi doesn't have 2 WC already.
Di Maria worked really well with Messi. They are really missing someone like Di Maria right now.
All Argentine officials for the France match? I know they just had some French officials for that Argentina game but idk. Perhaps I'm being unfair on those selected.
fairly presumptuous to put them past switzerland already. this should be a good game, think the swiss are better than ppl are acting like, and colombia worse. would be far from the biggest upset we've seen
You're right. I only mentioned Colombia because I see them as a worse match up for Argentina. And I do think they're a bit better than the Swiss.
Argentina were trailing as of the 78th minute, the latest any team has ever been 2+ goals down in a FIFA World Cup game and come back to win without going to extra time (3-2). Legendary.
Lionel Messi is the first player in football history to assist in SIX World Cup tournaments. (2006-2026)
Messi breaks Maradona record for most assists at FIFA World Cup
Lionel Messi is the first player in FIFA World Cup history to score in six consecutive knockout stage matches. Cometh.
da goat who ever oated
He has also become the player with the most missed pens at a WC (4)
Doubling second place Asamoah Gyan who missed 2.
yeah, an ethical king
Already 0.10 xg combined
Mario Yepes sighting ♥
I scored a game tying goal in grade 7 during a playoffs game in our city wide school league.
Ball was rolling to me. Was well beyond the goalie zone. Kicked it harder than I've ever kicked a soccer ball. Immediately thought it was over the net but it curved (and now we call it bended) and hit the inside post of the top right corner. Still didn't think it was in until the goalie grabbed it behind the net and someone else congratulated me
Greatest soccer moment ever for me!
combined 0.31 xg at the half
the switzerland of old have re-emerged to swiss it up here... :(
(couldn't come at a worrrse time!)
