It's going to pass 2022. Not 2025 though.
Theres still day 2 reg which is increasing year over year
The Year dramatically changed the Poker is 2003.
It’s called MoneyMaker year.
2003 had total attendance 839 players in Main Event.
Amazingly 2026 on Day 2D, under late registration 819 players registered.
Thus making total registration for 2026 to 9208 !!
So it did become 4th highest attended WSOP Main Event

Let’s see as per your thinking, what WSOP need to do to attract over 10000 players in 2027 Main Event?
Also if it is possible to go over 11000 in next 2/3 years ?
I think it will either be level or decrease slightly going forward. Games are getting tougher, rake is increasing, and Vegas is getting more expensive.
Your post seemed to imply that at a minimum it was going to be stable where the case may be that they need to do things to simply keep it above 9, 000.
Anyhow to answer your question a few things could be a better satellite system throughout the year both live and online.
Maybe offer a half rake break for those that register for Day A and B. People like a deal and get first and 2nd days pumped up a bit which might reduce the crowd later on and thus more attractive for others.

Both Ideas are definitely to increase the attendance for sure👍
If WSOP seriously thinks about offering better satty system to get in to Main Event, someone needs to look into how Foxwoods ran their satty in 2006 to 2010.
It was very successful system.
Yes, satties can be greatly improved. At a minimum they should have had a special Main Event satty for $500-$1000 with a better structure than the usual landmarks
Foxwoods use to ran satty in steps.
It was long time ago I used to play them .( Between 2006-2010).
They had very successful program.
If I remember correctly, they were single table sattys
One factor will be the increasing reluctance of Europeans to visit the US, due to less visitor-friendly border practices.
A quick Google for visitor numbers shows a 14% to 15.3% drop in airline bookings for the summer months, but anecdotally a lot of poker players in my home country, Ireland, have been unnerved by stories about phones being electronically scanned for social media activity, and a few cases of people being detained without explanation. I went to some WSOP events, and I was quite relieved to get past the immigration desk without any significant grilling.
Prices are definitely a factor. Everyone returning from Vegas has stories about stupid pricing of small items, and the difficulty of buying a tube of mints in a kiosk without paying a 22% tip for tapping your card. (My silliest was being asked for over $12 for a small Snickers bar).

Still 4th biggest Main Event that is also competing with foreigners with World Cup. And Europeans might come back simply for ranch dressing and free refills
Anyhow no one is really concerned about foreigners coming or not. Those traveling to US to play poker as opposed to doing something else are typically strong players and there’s plenty of fruit to pick domestically

But he is correct about attitude of US immigration lately. Most tourists and poker players are here to spend $$ and see the great country of ours.
I think all visitors should feel welcomed!!
Snicker bar for $12 is outrageous.
It also affects US residents who visits the event like WSOP.
Every one should know corporate greed and stock up from supermarkets the supply they need during the WSOP.
Topic always drags in some European scarf kind of guy who hates America, Trump, or whatever. Take it to Politics section. They are still coming in droves for World Cup and WSOP.
Anyhow I googled the $12 snickers bar thing and it looks like some imported version. I don’t know as I don’t eat candy. Supposedly you can get for $3 at Walgreen so if you spent $12 and complain then you are a clown. Plenty of low costs option available with just a tiny bit of research required.
