** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
a red card issues to France
and Morocco to be given a penalty I would like to bet on Morocco getting more then one penalty if possible to im not getting silly with amounts this will likely be a $2/$3 bet and even I think its a long shot but I think with the clear match fixing
What is the clear match fix thing?
They did it super-subtly so far, except for the US, but due to the spanking, it does not seem that bad.
Argies didn't even blatantly cheat vs Egypt, and I've seen so many publications saying that was really bad etc.
It feels like an impactful aggregate of small calls is going Argentina's way in the past two world cups, but that is not my main grievance.
What irks me more, this tournament, is that the on field referees and video assistant seemingly work with different sets of rules, which puts VAR in the impossible position to A) ignore clear fouls because the on-field referees constantly do, or B) call fouls the referee didn't just miss but chose to ignore, clearly instructed to let the game flow. They very inconsistently go with A a lot, and then suddenly opt for B and it looks perfectly correct.
Without offering a concrete example, I don't doubt that an equally clear foul, at a similar moment in build up, has gone unpunished in this tournament. And even if wrong in a vacuum, those non call were probably better.
I feel like the increased gray area of challenges the referees can call or ignore actually makes for fun games (except when clearly abused, the referee should have become more strict as Paraguay-France went on), but only if VAR consistently follows suit.
I honestly think that if that disallowed goal by Egypt was made my Argentina (and specifically Messi) VAR wouldnt have intervened, but ofc cant prove this so it remains a feeling
But this isnt match fixing per se and its also nothing new
Big teams and big players get the advantage, its always been this way
Trump calling Infantino to nullify the red card was something new though, in particular a new low
anyone know a site where I can get the following Michael Olise Theo Hernandez Jules Koundé Dayot Upamecano William Saliba a red card issues to France and Morocco to be given a penalty I would like to bet on Morocco getting more then one penalty if possible to im not getting silly with amounts this will likely be a $2/$3 bet and even I think its a long shot but I think with the
You want to wager that France will get 5 red cards? I will take your action
Haaland to score any time at +120 feels long to be, but i am probably just a standard pessimistic England fan

Nobody actually answered you but Bet365 has all these options available. Can even bet who gets the first card.
Good luck.
FIFA suspends Quansah for 2 games. LOL
They really want Messi

yeah, this. i bet it's happened a bunch of times, but where do they ever intervene with it? the big teams/players that they want to advance. fifa can say they don't care and don't play favs until the cows come home, but how many believe it?
After every goal is scored, the VAR checks the attacking possession phase (APP). If a foul is identified in the build-up and is deemed to have had an impact on the goal, the VAR will recommend an on-field review. There is no defined limit regarding either the distance from goal or the amount of time between the incident and the goal.
and i know that this is the rule, but i think it's bad. the standard should be something about leading directly to a goal with the defending team having no ability to recover from the missed call. the way it's currently written a team could pass the ball around for 40 minutes and they'd still wipe the goal off, which is ridiculous.
another example is how var can apparently intervene to overturn those incorrect corner/goal kick decisions. they've done it like 3-5 times the entire tournament, but then there's another dozen+ times where the broadcast is showing multiple replays of such missed calls and nothing happens, for whatever reason.
and yeah the bottom line is that fifa has no credibility with any of this stuff anymore, based on their actions in this tournament alone. throw in all that's come before and it's like gmafb.
Starmer is so **** his phone call to Infantino yielded an extra game bannage.
Reminds me of that bit in Red Dwarf
"you worked for the Samaritans for an afternoon and three people committed suicide. I wouldn't mind so much but one was a wrong number, they only called up for the cricket scores"
Today I feel French
