The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
blaming it only on climate change is a bit of a cop out and a little too easy for my liking and will probably be used as an excuse to not increase the budget. Climate changes slowly increases the % and range of bigger fires but its a very gradual increase what happened the last 5+ years is certainly variance but their could be other more obvious contributing factors. Why not in
Nobody says Canadian wildfires are “only” climate change. However you don’t seem to have anything to substantiate your viewpoint that Canadian wildfire fighting has gotten substantially worse, from what I can tell if anything it has gotten better but having to deal with worse fires.
Climate change is indeed the principal root cause of increase in lost fire acreage.
Warmer air causes greater transfer of moisture from soil and plants into the atmosphere. That makes the fuel supply drier.
Warmer air increases the breeding life cycles of bark beetles which feed off of and weaken the trees, making them more even vulnerable to fire.
Climate change leads to more extreme weather including wind intensity which is a wildfire amplifier.
Nut Nut, having revealed yourself as completely ignorant about climate change policy I don’t think you need to feel a call to chime in here. Let the knowledgeable people handle it!
Yikes if the new 50% tariffs, if they get implemented, are going to ****ing hurt. **** Trump.
I am starting to wonder if Carney's plan is Elbows up and wait till Trump is out of office . Many are questioning if he is telling us the truth about the Gordie Howe bridge as well
I mean. You either believe our administration who says we've offered significant trade concessions in hopes of reaching a deal all parties like or you believe the administration that has put out lie after lie.
This one should be rather easy chief.
As for how he's dealing with Trump, everyone is waiting for him to be out of office. Until then the tariff threats will not end. What's to say if we sign a deal 100% pro-USA tomorrow, he won't find another reason to tariff Canada?
May he die in his sleep tonight.

see heres the thing it doesn't actually matter if its got worse or not. it needs to get better even if it has gotten better! Seems like a bipartisan issue.
Some quick searching has shown ontario has a budget of 150 million but spent 300 million last year. 150 million or even 300 million is kind of laughable actually. my small local hospital has a 340 million dollar budget. How much are we wasting on subs again? Oh 100+ billion that could pay for the Canadian wildfire budget for the next millennia LOL. My god what a waste of money
Lozen may be right about Carney not being straight with us on the bridge.
It seems really unclear right now on whether the US gets any money until the bridge is paid for.
This bridge thing is becoming a really annoying symbol of our entire relationship with the US.
We finance and build a bridge, that will be co-owned, and all we want is our money back before anything other funds are split.
Yet somehow, a free bridge just isn't good enough for Trump.
If Carney caved I will be pissed off

I never get these arguments. The government does a thousand things. Some are big, and expensive, some are much smaller. And for any individual thing you can get look at your pet thing you are mad about and be like why don’t we spend the money on the thing we are mad about on the thing we want. It’s basically a vacuous argument.
The argument is its such a small amount of money spent for such an important thing. We could scrap the subs snd double the budget for the next 100 years. Like us the government also deals with inflation. This budget might have been fine 10 years ago
Right so just doubling down on that stupid argument. Ok.

This has been extremely confusing since the beginning, I kind of wonder whether that extends to the highest levels. A part of me is wondering the phone call between carney and Trump literally left with them not completely understanding/agreeing with each other, specifically on whether interest payments are part of operating costs.
