Seriously just asking, but doesn't he have a better chance if he just takes that money to stay w/ Lakers vs joining philly? Uprooting your life for a team you have no connection to for vet mins, when he would even take small pay cuts for the Lakers is crazy imho.I know the west is much harder, but still. Seems the current Lakers roster + LBJ would have been better.Wish we could

He already knew the lakers couldn't get over the hump in the west so unless he joined the spurs or wolves, has to go east.

Yes, everyone knows the east is easier to get to the finals... and then what? You have to go through those teams no matter what for a ring. I get it though, the regular season will be slightly easier.

The Lakers won 53 games last year and finished 1st in the division. If LBJ opted out last year and took 4/5 mill last season, the Lakers could have built a serious contender w/ AR on a team friendly deal, and an extra $45 mill to play with.

I honestly think he felt burned by the Lakers when they traded for Luka and ditched his best friend. LBJ said all the right things, but I don't think he really agrees w/ how Luka plays the game. I have hard time seeing how he could. LBJ is always trying to make the right play. Luka imho w/ all of his talent, is always trying to be the hero, no matter the result or cost to the team. It's just different mind sets.

LBJ asked himself, can I win with Luka and AR, and he obviously said no.

Should be NY vs Philly for the East this year now.

Jaylen / LeBron book club gonna be lit

This is my opinion. I don't think LeBron was ever on board with the Luka trade. And outside of losing AD, I think he took it as the Lakers choosing Luka over him, which never sat well with LeBron. Even if only a completely moronic GM named Nico wouldn't have been on the Lakers side of that deal.

Plus, as you and wheat said, the east being easier than the west makes it an easier choice to jump ship.

Going to be really weird to see LeBron in a 76ers uniform. Definitely takes even more pressure off of Embiid in the regular season.

2 years for $8 mil. Ring chasing!

If he ever retires, he should do this pretending he's playing, then just bet no on everything on kalshi before announcing it. This market on kalshi alone hit over 200M so a lot of casual donk bettors got absolutely wrecked.

The **** didn't he just stay with the Lakers if he was going to sign for so little?

lol... if you read some of the older LA times articles about the WB stuff, and some other behind the scenes instances, if half of them are true, LBJ can be a bit petty. I don't like saying that because I'm not a hater by any means, but I'm surprised by some of the things I've read over the years.

So after this *big decision* how do the ESPN power rankings look?

And what do the Lakers get from Philly for Bronny? I'm assuming this has to already be baked in.

Were there any late breaking Kalshi shenanigans in the odds in the hours leading up to the announcement?

Is water wet?

Actually, I don't know, but I'd wouldn't bet the over there wasn't.

no market mostly didn't move until the announcement, people might not have known it was philly but some pals could've known say it wasn't Miami but that would've required a lebron annual nba salary to push that market back more than a few percent. There are a few small bumps over the last few days but who caused that and how much who knows as that could've been anyone for any reason and then it usually reverted back to where it was.

anyway it's pretty obvious Lebron just thought Philly was his best title equity chances. Plus he can live in NYC and just commute over when he has to. Though you wonder why he just didn't sign with the Knicks then... I'm sure they'd figure it out.

apparently 76ers have to waive or trade someone on the bench to fit lebron in salary wise as they are hard capped; which is an insane bad beat for that player.

You'd assume wrong. Not a package deal. Also Philly kinda can't take Bronny's salary on anyway lmao. I think bron just wanted to say he played with bronny once and didn't really care about doing it the entire rest of his career. edit--well they could if they absolutely had to but all signs point to bron not caring about that, he knows he sucks.

gotta be hilarious in boston's front office; the knicks just titled and without them dumping jaylen brown, bron isn't a sixer. a mistake may have been made.

My guess is he preferred playing on the 76ers.

Because he wants to win. This 76er if healthy come playoff time is better than any other team Lebron could've gone to other than the Spurs.

They should just sit Embid for the first 70 games of the season so that can happen.

The Lakers are gonna give up 130 points a game. They're not gonna be relevant. Luka will get injured too.

Bron to the 76ers was the most interesting choice. This team can seriously win.

Uprooting your life for a team you have no connectiom to

Is it really that hard when you're a billionaire? He's not packing boxes and lifting furniture himself.

His boys are grown men. He can keep all his other houses. He can buy the best house in the best area near philly, and have teams of people set up everything the way he likes it reasonably quickly. All while flying in a private jet.

People talked about how GS was close to LA. Philly is just as close to his Ohio home. Half your games at home for 2 seasons, he'll barely need to spend a year of his actual life there.

Pretty much this.

The only way the Lakers are shipping anytime soon is if this explosive diarrhea plague gets so bad they have to shorten the season and have the playoffs in a bubble.

The Cowboys haven't been to an NFCCG in 30 years, and they still have better odds of shipping next season (+2200) than the Lakers (+4500).

Mainly replying to FreakDaddy but the West is super soft right now with the exception of SA and OKC. It lacks the historical depth at 3-6 and a big dropoff after that. East is gonna be lit this year. 7pm EST league pass grinding is gonna be fun

Don't be so shy about your Laker hate already. lol

And yes, it's difficult to uproot, even when flying private. He has an 11 and 19 y/o along w/ Bronny, and a wife and her connections and roots and no family in philly.
