Virtual Currency - Alt Coin Discussion Thread
I wanted to post a different thread to discuss the "crypto-coin" boom that happened this week.
For those who don't know,
Y'all, don't forget about the ETH thread! π

I am hoping August into October we see some altseason returns. It's been a long 4 plus years. Buy fundamentals and utility coins over meme/hype and you should do well!
Etf inflows dont swap into shitcoins...this bullrun looks more selective ie that if your alt hasnt pumped already, it wont.
First thing selecting alt should be does it attract institutional investment now.

Hopefully the meme/shitcoins are done, although you will always have people wanting to bet on the next 1000X shitcoin. Utility and functionality is where I am betting my chips. Some good small alts (COTI, ADA, ONDO) etc are good plays for a Alt. season that will happen, just not to every coin. Too many of them out there now, not like 2019 craze.
mood.
Eth might go into its tear here. Then and maybe a nice alt season starts up in mid august/September and runs for 2 months. Lets hope. Position accordingly! COTI is my holding. The risk/reward is fine here! NFA, research and make common sense choices and ride this wave of fun!
You shill COTI a lot. I'm not sure an Israeli company is a good bet right now. Sentiment is kinda high.

It's a cheap coin, that has been around and survives thru thick and thin. Fundamentals are there, and the privacy narrative is big. Generally its my mid risk bet, I like Ada too. I don't like buying things with huge market caps. Rather like to find those gems that have room to grow and aren't priced so high, I can't buy that much of it. So yes, I like Coti, the risk/reward is good. There are many projects that you can buy now and sell into the Alt season euphoria which will kick in soon. Buy and hold, not hard. Just know when to sell as well.
The world of virtual currency has evolved rapidly over the past decade, and while Bitcoin remains the most recognized name in the space, altcoins have carved out a significant share of the market. Altcoins, or βalternative coins,β refer to all cryptocurrencies that are not Bitcoin. These range from well-established projects like Ethereum, Solana, and Cardano to newer, niche coins that cater to specific use cases or communities. Many investors see altcoins as a way to diversify their portfolios, take advantage of lower entry prices, and potentially achieve higher returns than Bitcoin, although the risks are generally greater.
One of the key aspects of discussing altcoins is understanding their relationship with the broader crypto market, particularly Bitcoin. Since BTC is still the dominant cryptocurrency, its price movements often set the tone for the rest of the market. When the BTC price experiences a sharp rise, many altcoins tend to follow suit, though some may lag or underperform. Conversely, when Bitcoin declines, altcoins often suffer steeper losses. This correlation makes it essential for altcoin traders to keep an eye on Bitcoin charts even if they do not hold BTC directly.
Altcoins also differ from Bitcoin in terms of technology, consensus mechanisms, and intended purposes. Ethereum, for example, supports smart contracts and decentralized applications, opening up entire ecosystems for DeFi and NFTs. Others, like Monero and Zcash, focus heavily on privacy, while coins like Chainlink provide infrastructure for other blockchain projects. The diversity in altcoin utility means that their value is not solely dependent on speculative trading; adoption and real-world use cases can play a significant role.
However, the altcoin market is also more volatile and susceptible to hype cycles, pump-and-dump schemes, and low liquidity issues. For newcomers, thorough research is criticalβexamining the projectβs whitepaper, development team, community support, and long-term viability before investing. Whether you are holding for the long term or looking to trade short-term swings, the altcoin space offers both opportunities and challenges in the ever-changing landscape of virtual currencies.
You're a ridiculous person.
I sold technology stocks this week because of the crypto moves.
Crypto is this wonderful measure of technological religious fervor in the system/graph.
It has absolutely nothing to do with reality, but on a post-modern, hyperreal graph, have nothing to do with reality has huge value in that system.
"Ethereum might not just record valueΓβit produces value in a realm where the sign (ETH, NFTs, on-chain assets) floats free from material referents."
I have come to respect the crypto traders value of signs.
The problem is the ETFs suck.
Someday, I will get to trade too in a no-arbritage market against crypto bros and I am the smallest of small liquidity peddlers. I can't imagine crypto bros will enjoy that.
I hear people say the four year cycle is done.
I don't buy it. They say that every cycle. I expect a 70-80 percent drawdown in BTC starting in Jan/Feb 2026 ending in december 2026
Market is tougher to play, so important invest in correct coins, everything pumped before when market ripped, no longer the case.
The heat is on.

Until or unless everything blows up I agree. So many new launches. etc.
Bro. I was so early to aster but didn't full blast it like i could have because i'm stupid in retrospect. Not going to lie.
Don't mickey mouse. Know what you're buying and believe in it. Go hard or go home.
Then you can think about in reverse. ETH had a mad pump. I think it's bottomed and im currently long. I could be wrong. But it could be as simple as buying and holding the top coins by market cap and expect a trickle down. Case in point its tricky. But im locked in. Uptober
It's a balancing act i feel.
I'm heavy avax. Then I'm speculating on what i believe are low market gems. With reason. Because they're pumping and in the meta...You got be online on X a stupid amount of time.
I'm bullish asf
