2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
12 team, super flex dynasty with 30 roster spots/team
My only QBs: lamar, baker, carr, young
I am deep at every position except QB and I'm in first place now. How much are we bidding for deshaun watson (just got dropped) who can be put on an IR spot?
Great question. I would probably be comfortable bidding zero and living with the outcome but if you wanted to essentially waste a couple bucks for the close to zero chance he ever plays at a fantasy starter level again I would understand
You let me down on my Jauan Jennings question earlier so maybe make it up to me and tell me what Sleeper says about bidding on him? I have kinda used this tool in the past
But I have no idea how accurate it is. They say Jennings far and away the most popular FA this week with average bid of 19.1% and most common at 10%
For the record I am going 50.5%
Haha, Jennings is a tough read. I'm not sure how well he can play the Aiyuk role, but that's what I'm guessing he will be asked to do, alongside Deebo and Pearsall. Assuming CMC and Deebo come back to full health, Jauan likely won't be any better than 4th in the pecking order. Add in Pearsall as a first round rookie that I assume they'll continue to accumulate, and there is no telling what the ROS outlook will bring.
Obviously, Jennings showed a high ceiling earlier this season, but can he average 10-15 per week? Maybe. He should at least be a good start this week, especially with the Deebo uncertainty.
Sleeper has him in the range of 20-30% of starting budget. So 50% of your remaining budget is probably in line with that.
I hate bidding on and playing projectable volume for backup level receivers.
How desperate are you at receiver?

In theory, it's probably an empty the clip situation just to stash on IR at this point. In a league this deep, the wire has to be a wasteland.
In practice, Deshaun barely deserved a roster spot before the Achilles tear, let alone trying to come back from that next season. He had the lowest EPA through 7 weeks of any QB with 200+ drop backs since at least the year 2000.
I'd probably bid everything knowing that there's a great chance he'll be worthless moving forward. But it's likely no one else on the wire provides upside this season or in future seasons.
Tim Patrick for $0 if you're hurting at WR and in a deep league.

Haha I love that the two answers are 0% and 100%. I agree with your all's sentiment that he is likely never getting back to being a startable QB, but I am strongly leaning towards tarheels idea of nobody on the wire in a 12 teamer w/ 30 roster spots is worth anything so may as well YOLO watson.
This desperate?
Collins(IR), Harrison, Doubs, Tolbert, Wan'Dale, Juju(Out)
Any draft day surplus has already been dealt:
Javonte for Love
Moss for Wan'Dale + Charbonnet
so I am slowly running out of options to improve this 4-3 7th in points team
Yeah, that's pretty rough. The other angle is we aren't even 100% sure if Jennings will be healthy enough to play this week. If he does play, I think he's a good start given the 49ers's issues elsewhere.
The underlying metrics for Jennings have been strong. But I wonder if that efficiency sustains with more volume. The 49ers's w9 bye can't come soon enough and tough to say what things look like after that.
LOL - I am aware Jennings isn't a perfect solution but not sure how many more options are going to present themselves. Every WR on TB other than Godwin and Evans is unowned if you think going that direction would a be better move.
How was it obvious?
He’d done nothing so far to show he’s still elite. Even tonight, it’s 4 targets, 4 catches, 41 yards and 2 TDs.
I'd consider that elite TE production especially in this day and age. Andrews isn't going to command the targets he once did because he is no longer the only good fantasy weapon besides Lamar on the team. I don't think his TD's are fluky. He will continue to be a big time red zone target. Also, I think he is slowly ramping up from his injury from last year and the car wreck. He looks much more explosive now than he did at the beginning of the season. I'll trust my eyes over the statistics.
They've had 7 weeks to get some chemistry.
Heck, Rodgers and Adams already had years worth of chemistry and they looked bad on Sunday.
Hackett hasn't been involved the last 2 games and they still look bad. I don't know what else to say. Jets are just trash.
Adams hasn't even learned the playbook yet. His first game went exactly as I would expect for a guy who's been with the team for less than a week. Also, the Jets have played against the two best defenses in the league the last two weeks. I guarantee the Jets will start rolling in a few games once things start to gel assuming Hackett doesn't start calling plays again. Breece is about to go nuclear.

The way he looks when he’s on the field is less relevant if he’s on the field a lot less than he used to be. Maybe his snaps and route participation keep ramping up. But even last night, that wasn’t the case. Those are the stats that matter.
Likely and Kolar are a thorn in his side, it’s still a relatively low volume passing offense, and Andrews is going to continue to lose a lot of TD potential to his teammates.
He’s a TD dependent low end TE1. Which is still valuable, but that’s not elite. He’s more startable than he was 3 weeks ago. But he’s still going to have some frustrating floor games.
10k 12 teams
and this is my first time playing fantasy football lol
my buddy told me the league was soft, so I took a shot. the league is not soft. but I'm tied for first aorn 5-2. I'm 5th in points though.

You dropped like 20% of your annual income on a tip from your buddy who prob knows you’ve never played fantasy before??
Goddam hero, imo
Random survivor pool question:
I’m one of 3 left in a pool where everyone gets one strike, as in you’re eliminated after two wrong instead of one.
I have no strikes, and the other guys each have one. You can easily see each person’s pick history.
I’m thinking I should try to mirror the other remaining players picks right? Like I look at what they have left and try to pick the same team they do? That way, if the pick is good we all move on, and if it’s wrong then we all get a strike but they’re out and I survive?

Yes that's a good idea.
Godwin is done, right? no reason to keep him on the roster?
they say there is a tiny chance he comes back, but they just mean for post season, right? for fantasy he's done
We had a few posts discussing this exact type scenario back in the summer. Interesting to see an example.
The realization that fantasy football isn't all fun and games is a tough one. Solid advice from dad at the end lol.
anyone else tired of the constant Jets talk in fantasy and real football discussions? They suck, Breece is a fine asset and Wilson's value is lowered due to Adams. Please stop talking about this irrelevant franchise non stop.
Are we still keeping the faith with LaPorta?
That's a tough one, he is clearly still hampered by his 'low' ankle sprain and a lingering hamstring issue from training camp. It appears the Lions are erring on the side of caution and trying not to use him to the point of reinjury.
Obvious hold in dynasty but I wouldn't blame anyone that cuts bait on him in redraft
