The Official ALL THINGS LIV GOLF thread
So it looks like it's happening. For real.
Phil is in. DJ is in. Some journeymen, scrubs, international "veterans", and up and coming rookies are in. A few others like Young Rickie are rumored.
Tiger Woods reportedly turned down high nine figures to turn to the dark side.
Let's talk about LIV Golf here and keep the PGA Tour thread pristine for those who don't ever want to think or read about this crap.
AK currently DFL after Round 1
My only real takeaway was that it's alarming to not really see someone for 12+ years. Guy looks like he has done a ton of drugs, smoked a ton of ciggys, or both.
I never really got all the hype surrounding AK even when he was relevant

Living in the same area as him there’s been plenty of stories circulating over the years. Let’s just hope he’s outgrown those days.
DFL by 11 this week. Now that he’s got a start under his belt it’s time to see if he’s got some game left in him.
Totally agree. He had what one Masters run, and a win or 2 against non-elite fields?
LIV inviting him to this is pretty embarrassing.
In other news, damnit Jaco has all but destroyed his Masters his odds for us. He did cash me this week, but I wanted him at the Masters at longer. Not his best set up, but he can win anywhere right now. He was out driving Sergio by like 30 yards at Mayakoba.
Pretty bad take. Anthony Kim was awesome in college, walker cupper, ryder cupper at 23 years old, got to 6th in the world and won three times before he was 25. Any hype the guy was given was warranted. He was great.
I have watched a smidge of LIV this season. A couple observations:
The leaderboard graphic takes up an enormous part of the screen.
Does anyone at all care about the team aspect? I've watched at least 4 hours of coverage and couldn't tell you a single guy on any team because as soon as they mention the team aspect my brain shuts off.
The entire production comes off as B or C league stuff. One week they had some feature with short vidoes of Poulter talking about bunker play, Bryson talking about hitting the ball far, and Cam Smith talking about putting. The next week they showed the exact same video.
They read viewers tweets during the round.
And spare me the whole British plural speaking thing. It's like hearing "Buffalo are now playing nickel defense." Painful.

LIV gives up on world ranking points. I’m sure Norman told every single player not to worry and that they would eventually receive points. But anybody with half a brain knew that wasn’t going to happen.
They knew what they were getting into, I don’t feel sorry for them in the least.

Power move. With the talent on LIV the majors will now be forced to send invites to players if they want the best in the world, making OWGR obsolete.

Even if this comes to pass, (which I doubt) they aren't getting in to any of them this year as the exemption lists and qualifying sites(for the Opens) have already been posted.
If they want to play in the Opens they need to man up and get through qualifying.
The LIV shills on Twitter are either bots or paid accounts.
I still refuse to believe any actual humans that aren't related to the LIV golfers are tuning in religiously week after week and riding for this league.
it appears Monahan and the peeps in Jax Beach have been playing 4-D chess while Yasir and MBS were playing checkers
yday LIV Golf gave up on their pipe dream of having their exhibitions actually ever qualifing for OWGR pts
and today it appears that Monahan has been using Yasir as his useful idiot for the better part of several months
bravo PGAT. bravo. a tip of the cap is warranted

I saw Troy Mullins (young female golfer/correspondent) mention that she was no longer with the tour (not a good sign). I imagine the money may be tight to hire the top TV/youtube production people. They probably have B, C league people doing the work.

It's insane to me how they can spend hundreds of millions on players, and then let the rest of the product be total crap. Like buying a Ferrari engine and putting it on a Model T chassis.
To be fair, the actual product isn't that much worse than say the Valero Texas Open or the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Golf just isn't that interesting outside of the 4 tournaments a year that everyone truly wants to win.

but what about 'signature' events?
Looks like the Stu Ungar of golf shot 05 in the final round!
would anyone not want to see Stu Ungar philosophy applied to golf?
One of his nostrils definitely reminds me of Stu Ungers.
Solid round yesterday. I saw his caddy said his equipment has yet to be fitted and they still don't know his yardages but plan to have it done before the next event. He also just saw a trackman for the first time and had no idea what it was or how to use it. Pretty cool story where one of the best talents of his time goes completely off grid and away for the game for 12 years then comes back, it will be interesting to see if today's technology helps.
