The Official ALL THINGS LIV GOLF thread
So it looks like it's happening. For real.
Phil is in. DJ is in. Some journeymen, scrubs, international "veterans", and up and coming rookies are in. A few others like Young Rickie are rumored.
Tiger Woods reportedly turned down high nine figures to turn to the dark side.
Let's talk about LIV Golf here and keep the PGA Tour thread pristine for those who don't ever want to think or read about this crap.
Hatton packs his bags and signs up.
Not a shocker as he was rumored for a while, and is a much bigger get that the supposed news of Adri Arnaus a few weeks ago. He was good for about 6 months 2 years ago. He and Rahm are supposed to be close and was predicted to join.
I keep waiting for somebody like Day or Rickie to be next as the prime earning years are 100% gone and they should just take the money. At this point I don't see it being Cantlay or Xander as rumored since the first year. You would figure that they would have gone by now.
Meronk is joining too. That's a really big get of an up and comer winning like crazy the last 2 years.
meronk, ist class c--t, for taking a pga tour card, so blocking the second hojgaard, and then leaving after less than a month.
Well I was gonna pass on watching the season opening LIV event, but now that Adrian Meronk is in the field it's Must See TV!

He's in his prime and mega talented. Minus a stupid R4 chip in the water on the par 3, he had Rory beat at the Dubai Desert Classic a few weeks ago. One of the biggest purse events over there.
Reining DP tour player of the year and #39 in the world.
yet the vast majority of real golf fans couldn't even ID him in a photo lineup
dude doesn't move the needle at all
If a "real" golf fan doesn't know who the reining DP player of the year is and #39 in the world then they aren't real fans
Who knows, he's still a very talented player. You know who does move the needle, Jon Rahm.

Dude definitely doesn’t move the needle in the US. But he certainly does in Europe. I don’t know about other places like Australia or the Middle East. Don’t see him moving the needle in Mexico.
he may in EURoland. but i'm not worried about EURoland. hence why i referred to "TV ratings or market share in the U.S."
in unrelated news, my friend told me on Monday he's taking me to my third Masters round (Thursday's 1st round). last time he invited me was 13 yrs ago. i am excite

I had no clue who he is I guess I am not a golf fan though I do know Nelly Korda made an incredible comeback on the LPGA and a frenchman won on the PGA . Folks say he cheated on that incredible 3rd shot out of the rough that led to his 9 ft birdie putt to win

Jordan Spieth says PIF alliance not needed after SSG-PGA Tour deal
https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/394...
after hearing of the SSG deal earlier today, i was thinking the exact same thing. what does the PGAT need PIF/KSA for? going to be too funny if MBS thought he was playing 4-D chess and all along Monahan was just stringing him along (and using him as leverage for a more proper deal for the PGAT). we'll see what develops over the next several days and weeks
"Any shot, Any time". Basically the Masters App every week. Which is awesome.
Today is an example of why having LIV when the PGA chose Pebble in a month where the weather is bad is better to have than not have.
Actually watched a bit of the coverage this afternoon with no Pebble to swoon over. Announcing is decent, definitely has a bit of F1 flair to it. Very surprised Rahm crapped the bed the last two holes after being tied for the lead. And how about Caleb being on the winning team a week after moving out of his dorm room?
Two things I don't like. 1, the mic's in the cup makes it sound like Top Flight's crashing into a putt putt cup. Dreadful. 2, I know I'm old, but I can't stand watching tour pros competing in shorts. It just looks wrong, I keep thinking I'm watching the U.S. Am or something.

As long as people are willing to discuss what they like vs don’t like then by all means posts like these are good and constructive. Anything is better than herp derp I don’t like but can’t say why so therefore it’s awful.
Definitely is an F1 feel. I don’t like the putting tracer and the hole layout that they show. Outside of that it’s just golf with music in the background. This going to a Sunday playoff was much better than playing last years Pebble while this years is rained out.
Not sure how LIV thought playing this week in Vegas was a smart decision and at Las Vegas Country Club
