The Official ALL THINGS LIV GOLF thread
So it looks like it's happening. For real.
Phil is in. DJ is in. Some journeymen, scrubs, international "veterans", an
Going to be a tough end for LIV once Bryson, Rahm and Smith decide to defect back to the PGA.
Itβs over. Sucks for Kevin Na & Harold Varner, though Iβm sure they both invested wisely.
From what I've read Rahm and Smith are still owed large sums of money. Bryson has a ton of leverage in negotiations and will be getting a gigantic bag for staying with LIV. That said unless the PGA changes their YouTube policy he's not going back.
Today all 3 said they're staying put...for whatever that's worth.
Fatrick leaving LIV.
So in 3 weeks Reed has pretty much guaranteed entry to the majors after the Masters and return to PGA tour next year, if not before (not sure how a non-member gets treated with high finishes/prize money).
He's a top 5 player in the world right now.
I thought I read he's returning to the PGA Tour in August.
I'll give you that Reed is more of a top player in the world than Niemann ever was when he was running hot.
No, but last year probably 100% of people would have said he's better than Reed.
Niemann was the poster child last year for LIV, Phil and others was trumpeting he was the best player in the world. Felt like an apt comparison to make, meanwhile Fatrick has seen the light finally.
No AK posts? Great story. Good for him.
Pretty crazy. He shouldnβt even be out there after being relegated last season. Finished 3rd in the qualifying tournament where in the past theyβve taken the top 2. But they decided to add a 3rd spot for this year.
I know it sounds stupid, but I have a hard time believing that on a day AK shoots 9-under that Rahm and Bryson could only shoot -1 and +2 to finish 2nd and 3rd.
Wouldn't put it past the Saudis to slip a bill or two to make it happen. π
Before or after he finished 3rd? You are making it out to sound like they added a 3rd so he would qualify.
It is a super cool story though, awesome for AK! Hopefully he qualifies for some majors soon.

Seeing some rumors about LIV possibly shutting down. Not sure if true.
Nothing concrete, but almost certainly done. Think the question is if they finish out the season.
If immediately done, both the PGA and DP tours will have to make some tough decisions on returning players. It was easy with Brooks, one player and they add spots to the field so nobody is affected. But with 20+ all of a sudden wanting in, I donβt know what the solution will be.
Hope both tours give them tough love. Make them go grind it out in Latin America or Asia for a while.
I suspect DP tour makes more accommodations to get them playing there quickly.
