Just stumbled across this TR after the crossover with Leon, happy to see a high stakes mixed player doing this!
I only read back to January but wondering if you've been to AZ and played the 75 game here (Talking Stick Resort) that goes most weekdays. Sometimes get 150/3, 2/4, or 3/6 games also.
Also have a Mixed game series coming end of April/early May which could be a good WSOp warmup. Locals include Chris Vitch and David Bach.
Curious about the Bahamas. Is there a real poker scene there or is it just when they run this event? Spent a week there when I was in college but that was way before the Paradise. That place seems awesome.

I don't play mixed games so I can't speak to that, but I can vouch for the fact that the Talking Stick poker room is my favorite place to play anywhere in the country. A great room, a great vibe, a very good staff and the players I've faced are extremely enjoyable (friendly) to share a table with. I've played there numerous times and enjoyed myself every single time.

The thing that made the biggest impression on me is I've never seen so many drunks in any other casino, including Vegas. Most of them were Indians when I was there.

I'm aware of the Mix game that runs at Talking Stick but haven't been there as yet. It's on my list of places to visit, but not sure when I'll get to it.
Looks like the upcoming mixed tournament series clashes with the WSOP circuit stop at TCH in Austin which I'm already committed to but with what happened at the Lodge recently you never know.

As far as I know there is no regular poker there. I didn't see a poker room in the casino.
I'm seeing more of this on the news. Not good for anyone with travel plans. Fingers crossed.
From what I remember during the shutdown last year, it was mostly a huge issue for people taking domestic flights. Saw some footage from two days ago where the queues for check-in at Austin, TX was insane, for example.
Personally, I doubt I will be affected at all during my upcoming Vegas-trip. Especially as I am having an evening flight back home, and have plenty of time to get to the airport a bit early if need be.

Next time you're in Vegas and looking to fill a day, Phoenix is a quick 1 hour away. Phoenix and Vegas both have SWA hubs, so flights are frequent and cheap. The bad part is it's a long trek from the airport to Talking Stick, so transportation might be spendy.

It probably won't affect you unless you have a layover in the U.S. Even then, only if you have to go from one terminal to another one. If you're staying in the same terminal, there's no security check. Of course, you have to deal with it on your return trip.
I'm kind of impressed actually, that people report to work even when there's no paycheck. They don't know when, and there's not even a guarantee of getting paid, but they probably will eventually.

Pre-Game
Here I go again on my own, goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known ……
It’s that time again. Suitcase is packed and we’re heading to the airport tomorrow. Rather glad I’m going the Panama route this time instead of connecting in Houston with all the TSA shenanigans going on.
I happened to take a closer look at the structures on the app this week and if you want to know how not to do it then Horseshoe Las Vegas is a shining example.
Not only do we have the 3pm starts with a dinner break again but there is no consistency or rhyme or reason.
The TORSE and O8 start at 200-400 limits which is an utterly meaningless level. The OE is more what I’d expect starting at 300-600 in line with most other places, but the Mixed Triple Draw which is by far the most volatile of the mixed games starts at 400-800. Which fcuking genius was responsible for this? The mind boggles.
On top of that the $800 PLO has 30k chips with 40 minute levels and starts at 100-100/100 ! Just the 300 big blinds deep to start then.
I tweeted TJ Reid who is now the U.S. circuit manager to verify and he confirmed that these are indeed the structures and we’re stuck with them as it needs gaming approval to change. He agreed with the points I raised, but these structures were approved before he took on the job. At least with a player like him on board now we can expect positive changes going forward.
But it is what it is and we’ll plan accordingly. With the exception of the triple draw I don’t see many on-time arrivals in my future.
My likely plan of attack most days I think will be to play the $80 Mix at the B which starts at noon and then to jump in the tournament after the first break. That will allow me a good 4 or 5 hours to hopefully earn some wages and then dive straight into meaningful play in the tournaments.
So looks like being another intensive trip with a lot of hours at the table. Well I have just had 5 weeks off. Let’s go!

Day One - Wednesday March 18th
Travel Day. Medellin - Panama - Vegas with Copa and some early run good:
They only upgraded me for the short leg of the trip but we’ll take it. Flying is definitely better with the extra room and a couple of glasses of bubbly.
Had a 3 hour layover in Panama.
Uneventful 2nd leg. Full flight, I had a window seat, a little turbulence but nothing too serious.
Breezed through immigration without any problems. Carrying less than $10k as have chips and left money on deposit from the last time so no paperwork to fill out.
Staying the first 4 nights at the magic castle before moving to the horseshoe for 4 nights and finishing out the trip back at Excalibur.
Royal tower twin.
On deck tomorrow: $80 Mix and $400 PLO.
