The Summer Wind - A WSOP Trip Report …… and beyond!

Happy to report I've been staking Tony this past year. It's been a fun ride with many a sweat.

I just got 10% of event #9, the 10k PLO8 (along with other events). I'm hereby officially encouraging (somewhat selfishly) everyone else to grab a piece of the 10k- if Tony gets enough backing it's a go.

Hopefully we can set off an amazing chain where he gets enough backing, binks a big buy in event, thereby allowing us to back more big buy in events, bink/back/bink/back etc etc. Let's do it people!

I could be cajoled into some % of it if it helps to make it happen. Already bought a small share of the mix package, but those are all late in the series!

I would like 2% of the Mixed Game Package. I can pay cash in Vegas as I will be in town June 6-11th and playing event 30, which is before any of your mixed game package starts.

Although you might not be around if you are skipping event 37, $1500 HORSE.

You got it, I'll send a DM to confirm. Cash in Vegas is fine. I am playing the $1,500 HORSE, it wasn't in the package as that was one of the events that someone snapped up all the 40% I was selling as soon as I listed it on Pokerstake.

I'm getting close to sold out on some events so can only take 4% more for both the mixed games package and the big bet package.

If it makes it happen, then I am in for 10%

Added some card graphics to this one, which even though I did it in an easy way (could be done better and more professionally) still took a lot of time.

For sure won't have time to edit these things during the WSOP and my 65 subscribers doesn't justify paying a video editor. Might just do some shorts during the series.

I enjoyed the 2-7 section, especially where you showed your cards on all the hands you were folding, which gave this 2-7 novice an idea of what a playable starting hand is/isn't.

A couple of questions on the production of the video:

1) Where do you go to find the music and sound effects that you use in your videos?

2) Do you have to pay for them?

There’s lots of sites to choose from for the music. The one I use is called uppbeat.io
They give 3 free downloads per month or you can pay $9.99 I think it is for full access.

I've found pokerstake to be awesome. Super reliable, the cashouts are quick and if Tony doesn't enter an event for some reason the money automatically gets refunded. He's up to 13.3% of 70% staked for the first 10k (event #9, the O8 championship). Not sure what his threshold is to enter.

Maybe there's a widget or something for your editing software that make the card graphics easier.

Tried the WSOP registration on the app today. Seems like I don't need any additional verification.

With PayPal and credit cards having 2% fees this year I thought I'd try Luxon Pay as they're supposed to have no fees. (Not available for US citizens) While this is technically true if you already have USD in your Luxon account you can buy-in for the ticket price with no additional fees. They do however charge within Luxon to convert from other currencies into USD.
I converted some GBP into $1,500 USD so I could register for an event and they charged me $30 so that's where they're making their fees.

Looks like cash will be king this year if you don't want to pay any fees.

In other news my mixed games package is now sold out. I still have limited availability in the other two packages.

I was just going to bring cash from Australia & reg using that. Is that possible with the app system or will I have to transfer to a card?

You can always buy in for cash at the cage.

If you verify your WSOP identity in person, you can link a card, and buy in with card if you want.

I think it’s a great innovation. If you bust and want to rebuy, you can do it right from your phone, and be seated again in 5 minutes.

Cash is the best way. Just go to the Paris main cage when you arrive and deposit all that you might use for tournament buy-in’s into your tournament account.
Then you can use the app the rest of the way and never have to stand in line.

FYI there's apparently no fees for ACH or debit card transactions, so that's an easy option for U.S.-based players and international players for whom that makes sense.

Tbh looking at my potential schedule I think I’ll probably only play the Senior’s at Paris and then have other mtts around town to splurge on so I won’t need too much on the app

I'm going back and catching up on your entire TR since I only joined it in January, so I have a lot to catch up on!

And this is 100% true for me, and I think it is normal if you are playing tournaments correctly. You can't play on autopilot in tournaments like you can in cash because you have to be aware of short stacks, changing blind structure (bigger ante, bigger SB vs. BB, etc), when levels change and how it impacts the stacks, moving tables and learning new faces, and more people you are unfamiliar with vs. a small ecosystem of a certain cash game.

Occasionally (maybe once every 10-20 sessions) I make a bad play because someone is almost all in in a cash session and don't catch it and adjust properly.

I picked up 3% to keep things moving along.

Not sure if serious but that tower was literally part of Bally's before the Horseshoe reskin.

WSOP
Day 29 - Sunday July 6th

I wheeled my suitcase over to the Paris which will be my home for the next 5 nights.
The luck of the draw this time gave me the Versailles Tower.

The rooms are nicer than the Bordeaux tower as they’re refurbished but it’s miles away. It’s like I’m staying at the Horseshoe, not Paris.

It's close to the Horseshoe poker room and the front door, thus the Strip. Quickest route to Bellagio is down the Versailles elevator, 50 yards to front door area, up the escalator to the pedestrian overpass, down to Bazaar shops, then over to the pedestrian bridge over the Strip.

Only rookies use that pedestrian overpass. Gotta cut through the taxi drop off area.
