WSOP 26 6/8-6/22 - Swingin' for the Fences!
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!!!!! It's almost time!
This is the most excited I have been for a poker trip ever. Can't w
I really needed it. I feel fresh and ready to go today. Walk the inside route to stay out of the Sun and on my way I saw the Bellagio Conservatory which is a must see for every trip. Seems to be an African jungle animal type setup this time.

Plan for the day was only healthy snacks. But I couldn't walk past Milk Bar in Cosmo when there's no line and not get a piece of milk pie that stuff is awesome.

Hadn't been down on this end of the strip in a while so I decided to go see the statue of the lady.

Walking through all the MGM Resorts today shows the start difference between MGM and Caesars so far this trip I've walked through Flamingo Harrah's link horseshoe Paris Planet Hollywood and they are all dumps compared to the lowest of the MGM properties.
First break 58.8 K it was looking pretty bleak for a while but then I finally got a big double up.

The table is very weak and limpy but I've just had a terrible run of cards. Anytime I got something close way decent looking someone would come over the top. In fact that's what happened on the double up hand. There's $500 big blind and a raise to 1200 gets two callers to me in the cutoff with two black 10s and I call. Button decides to raise to 6800. Folds back to me and I think this reeks of someone trying to steal the pot at this point. So I just shoved my chips and he took a minute to call with Ace Queen off the tens were good and all of a sudden I had a playable stack.
Second break 83k.

I almost had an enormous double up. I flop off the set and the river paired the board so I made a full house but that River pairing the board also made the nut flush. Nut flush made a big bet and of course I shoved. Seems like he thanked for almost 5 minutes before somebody finally called the floor and he finally folded if he called that call I'd probably be chip leader right now.

does the list of mgm properties not still include nyny, luxor, and excal?
I dunno about all of Caesar's properties being dumps... I've always worried about contracting something while playing at MGM Grand. And everything I've ever heard has said avoid CC and Excalibur like your life depends on it.
I think it all ends up at YMMV, but everything looks like crap compared to Wynn/Venetian (for poker at least) anyway.
I am out. Think I played pretty good today I just had a miserable run of cards and other than those two before mentioned hands I really had nothing all day long. Now I'm going to make that long lonely walk back to the other end of the strip I'm already on the list that the Venetian so I'm going to try to play cash all night or as long as I can anyway.
may you only find good luck playing at the V
I got bent over at Venetian cash. In for 300 out for zippity doo dah. I was doing fine until the bomb pot rolled around 😀 I have Q532. Not exactly anything to write home about, But one of the boards is QQ some card. I have a pair if fives on the other. I am button and cutoff bets 20. I call and brand new old guy who has no clue calls. Flop on my Q board is a 3 giving me boat. Clueless bets 75 other guy goes all in, I go all in and clueless folds. I am only playing the Q board and other guy rivers a K to beat my wimpy full house and I have dick on the other board. He scoops and I say screw it. Haven't eaten anything but snacks today. Currently munching on nuts and drinking beer. I hate bomb pots 😀
I will have a good breakfast tomorrow before I return to the mean MTT streets. tournaments can be cruel bastards but when they hit it is so sweet! I am 90% going to play day 1E (?) at the Southpoint. If any LVLer's were to say they were going to Rookies and Recs at GN I would do that instead. If I don't make a day 2 in whatever I play it will be the senior DDS on Thursday.
Slept another solid 8 hours last night so I guess I am getting used to Vegas time and this hotel bed. Planning on playing day 1E of the $300 Southpoint event at 10:10. Day 2 is tomorrow. Never been there before so it will be nice for a new experience. Will likely go early to grab players card, eat breakfast and get the bulk of my steps exploring the property.
Another note on yesterday's tournament at MGM. With so much else going on during the series I think the MGM is avoidable. It is dark, dreary and uncomfortable in the tournament area. The dealers are substandard too. Next series trip I will avoid the place completely.
South Point is good. If you are a new player they might have some free slot play offers, don't forget to enquire when you are there.
I believe they give some kind of discount to their buffet to new players.
Would love to hear your report about the tournament and the location.

The first thing I did when I got here was go get a player's card. They don't have any free slot offers with it though. But it did offer a discount on the buffet which I took. They have a real nice old school Buffet here and it's a really nice property. It's a really nice old school Buffet much better than the one I had at the Grand Lux a couple days ago. Plus this one was only half the price. Went with no carb breakfast meats and eggs again.

Have a little less than an hour and a half until the tournament starts so I'm just going to walk around the property and get my steps in pre-tourney. I was kind of shocked to see so many people bowling at 8:30 in the morning. But this is a unique place really more old school Vegas since the strip is now. Even the cocktail waitresses are hot and skimpy outfits.
I always wanted to check this place out because my parents used to come here all the time. They were originally with the Barbary Coast getting deals from them and I guess this is owned by the same people as the old Barbary Coast so when that changed hands all their offers came here and they really like this place.
GL!

Good luck in the tournament. The buffet piqued my interest when I was there a few days ago, but there was a moderate line and I didn't have much time to work with, so I had to grab something quick from the deli counter instead. Buffet looks pretty good!
First break 32.2 k. I won the last hand before the break and was stuck ever since the first hand of the tournament. We have a certifiable maniac at our table he raises 4X or 5x every single hand doesn't matter position doesn't matter what he has he's raising 4x5x every single hand. He continues through on the Flop as well he's running over the table showing down ridiculous Holdings that are somehow hitting the clock. It's just a matter of time I hope to double up through this guy.

I have been extremely card dead but I've also been very patient I know the situation with this guy and I just need to get a big hand against them.
I'm out in level 11 about 170th place. This thing was pretty big today they had over 530 Runners and 67 we're going to bag. I just couldn't get a thing going all day long I was as card that as I've ever been in my life. These last two days have just been brutal when it comes to getting playable hands in tournament situations. I think I played as good as I possibly could have today and the solver would have told me I wasn't making any mistakes but you still got to get some carbs to win and I wasn't getting anything. And it was a great table very over aggressive like I said we had the one Maniac I did Outlast him but I didn't get many chips from him.
Looks like a lot of trip report catching up to do but I'm not going to do that until I settle in for the night right now I'm going to head over to the Venetian get something to eat and try to get into a cash game hopefully it will run better than it did yesterday when I got brutalized in a bomb pot.
Was planning on going to the Venetian to play some cash but then I decided I didn't really want to look at any cards anymore today. After folding and after hand after hand for 6 hours straight during that tournament I decided to take a break from poker for the evening. I did go over to get something to eat though I went to the BS Taqueria in the lower Venetian food court. I was planning on getting street tacos but then I saw a little advertisement for their Crunchwrap especial. So I got that instead and it was really good.

It really hit the spot. This lower food court at the Venetian is very good. Since they opened it about a year ago I've eaten there quite a few times. I've been to Howling Rays three times the Turkey and the Wolf two times and now the BS Taqueria and all of them seem very good.
During the break on today's tournament I got a chance to see TJ again so it was always nice to spend a little time with an LVLer. We were both sucking wind in the tournament though so that was depressing.
I'm trying to decide what I want to play tomorrow initially the plan was to play the senior daily deep stack. But it's not showing for some reason on my WSOP app. In fact the only three things showing for tomorrow are the three big Main tournaments. It doesn't show any side events at all. So I'm not sure if they're going to run them or what's going on. I'll double check the app later tonight and tomorrow morning to see if there is a daily deep stack running and if so I will probably play that. If I want to get adventurous there's an $1,100 senior one day tomorrow at the Wynn.
If anybody knows why tomorrow's side events aren't showing on the WSOP app let me know.
This is the link you want for all the su...
I’m thinking about playing the 300 at the Orleans tomorrow, if I don’t bag here tonight.
I think the dailies often don't show up on the app until the day of, so I'd assume that's the issue. If you check in the AM, I'd expect everything to be there.
A few thoughts on The Southpoint. First time I was ever there and that place was boomin'! When I left at about 4pm the casino was packed. The poker room was packed with both tournament and cash players. It is a huge property.
If you are just looking to degen it is likely a way better value than the strip. I looked at the steak houses menu at it priced at about 60% of strip prices and I would bet anything it's just as good.
Cost me $50+ for uber rides so I wouldn't go there again unless I had a car. Or made it to day 2 😀

That's the problem, it's sort of on an island. If I was just going to Vegas for a few days and doing nothing, I'd probably be perfectly content to stay there. It has just about everything, tons of poker, good vp, movie theaters, and lots of comfortable eating places. My favorite is Baja Miguel's, they have a great chimichanga for about 25 bucks.
