Yea pokernews and Swann99 are wrong here heh. Shortstacks have an inherent and mechanical advantage over tables with bigger stacks due to how it skews preflop ranges and also can over-realize equity.. This is even entirely without the additional ICM considerations.

These are the same thing in this context. If a having a short stack is +EV in a given hand, that EV gain translates into a gain in tournament EV as well (albeit not quite in a linear way).

It is true that a player who enters in level 9 with a starting stack does not have an advantage over a player who entered in level 1, but still has a starting stack in level 9. (Except that the late entrant might be better rested, while the early entrant will have more knowlegde of their opponents.)

Wrong. You have better chipEV max late regging with short stack, but ofc worse odds to win the tournament. Instead, you you min-cash more often. Lower ROI, but higher hourly winrate.

Ignoring skill differences. you have the same odds of winning the tournament regardless of when you register, assuming the number of chips you get upon entry is the same fraction of the total chips in play (which it should be).

In reality, winning players who play from the start (and dont bust early) usually have a much bigger stack when the bubble approaches, and it sucks to be short on the bubble, as you surely know.
Hence why you win less often, when max late regging.

Lets say you play an 11$ from the start, and have a ROI of 4$ on average, for which you play 4 hours on average.

I max late reg 3 hours after the start, for only 2$ ROI, but i only play 90 minutes on average.

Means, you earn 1$ per hour of play, but i make 1,33$ per hour. Tho, i have way more variance due to way lower ROI.

This struck me, too... I guess they only sync their updates when it's a final table.
