What's the deal with accusations made about Anthony Zinno at Wynn/Encore at WPT December 2023?

What's the deal with accusations made about Anthony Zinno at Wynn/Encore at WPT December 2023?

Was listening to Only Friends Podcast Episode #443 and at approximately 16:52 an accusation is made about Anthony Zinno.

I'm having a hard time believing the accusation made, that Zinno took some dude named Corel's backpack during batting up of a 3k at Encore during WPT.

Does anyone have additional information or context?

Lol at people being fixated on “victim blaming!”

I think one person said it and yeah it’s probably not a good idea to leave a duffel bag full of cash under the table.

Could have been swiped by some random who they might not know who it is and decides he already has final table money, swipes it, and never comes back.

Mentioning this fact really isn’t victim blaming, just a simple commentary made in a thread on the situation.

Perplexed at what Zinno was thinking. Sure he might have a lot of volume b

Mentioning you should not leave your bag when referencing a crime where someone steals a bag is “victim blaming”. It’s like saying “who walks down an empty street” when a person gets shot down an empty street. It’s just ridiculous.

No it’s not ridiculous, it’s allowed to be brought up without someone whining “victim blaming!”

Truth of the matter is that monikrazy’s post is just wrong. The cameras rolling will not help you get your money back. Someone swipes the bag and gets on a plane. So the cameras help you how exactly? They don’t.

So the point is legit and common sense should prevail.

In "Ace on the River" Barry Greenstein wrote that you can leave anything at the poker table and it'll be there when you get back, unless it is a gambling book. I think Barry might need to update the next edition.

His last six figure cash was in 2021. His volume plus playing high rollers means he's probably broke.

I don’t see him playing many high rollers

Just saw he played a 50K nlhe a week after winning two wsop bracelets in 2021 which is understandable

Doesn’t seem like he’s playing those 25K+ tourneys with the gto crew

If he’s broke it has to be some life leak or maybe he’s a kleptomaniac

I know the victim, Corel. He's an Incredibly nice guy, and a true gentleman, fwiw. He's a businessman, not a grinder, but he has some decent results, not that that matters in a case for theft. He's played a few high rollers too, so anyone who knew him might surmise that his bag would have significant cash.

I haven't spoken to him directly, but I did speak to a good friend of his, and I believe the allegations to be 100% true. Corel left his bag at (under) the table, Zinno took it to the bathro

Recent score at the Borgata? Hendon mob doesn't have anything, is it so recent they haven't updated yet?

Why hasn’t this been covered anywhere else? Dan Druff where are you? Poker News? Poker.org? Very weird this story hasn’t been covered anywhere else yet.

Right here. Will be covering it shortly, and will be on my next show, which should be in the coming days.

Did a writeup on my site. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here, so I won't.

But you can find a link to it by going on my Twitter (@ToddWitteles), or by going to my site and looking in the "Scams, Scandals, & Shadiness" subforum.

No its not. If you say "lol what a dumbass he deserves it when hes so stupid", then thats victim blaming.

Saying "dude maybe you shouldnt leave your bag unattended in an environment full of low life degenerates" is just common sense and good advice.

People like you ruin language. not allowed to say anything because certain people are too dumb to understand there are nuances.

Because Berkey is a scumbag too. When are people going to realize this? I’ve never understood why he had a following.

Can you give some examples of his scumbaggery? I’m genuinely curious. What has he done that leads you to conclude that he is a scumbag?

For starters there is no way he actually believes the trash course hes selling is worth the money compared to other products out there. Also like almost every poker player on twitter hes very selective about the topics he chooses to attend to, which shows low integrity and that hes mainly picking spots based on what will give him more popularity. He was quickly to jump on the wagon when Doug Polk acted like a douche to Charlie Carrel, because it was easy picking where Polk was clearly in the wrong. But where is his critique about the GG "Integrity Council"? That would imply actually getting into an argument with people who are well liked in the community so he wont do that. Similar story here with Zinno. Until theres a majority opinion against Zinno Berkey wont say ****.

I think we should wait to see a police report or more info here.

Never heard of this Corel guy before. His startup doesn’t look real and his twitter account is a lot of crypto scam spam

I’ll admit I’m biased here because I like Ant. Haven’t posted on this forum in years and here I am defending him. Just think for someone to have no accusations against them for almost a decade, then having some no name accuse him of a 20k theft is a little hard to believe right now. Not saying Ant didn’t do it, just think we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Who knows if this Corel guy is running some type of insurance scam himself against the Wynn. Everything seems weird about this story.

I’d imagine life leak… though like the guy above said maybe some corroborating evidence would be nice before dragging the guy…it’s poker though so I always just assume the worst.

I shouldn’t besmirch his startup. Please disregard that part of my post. Also, seems like his twitter was hacked and those are were those posts come from.

This all seems really weird still

Let's say he had nothing in the bag and was trying to scam the Wynn. Fine. We really have no idea what was in it.

Why is Zinno taking someone else's bag and running into the bathroom with it?

Didn't you see, he thought it was his girlfriends who is a masseuse and so he thought she left it there at that exact table. Then he had to take a piss before checking it. Once he opened it in the bathroom after pissing he realized it wasn't hers and immediately returned it without taking anything out. Honest mistake😀 By the way that is the explanation he gave through a 3rd party in the thread on Dan Druff's site. There is some good additional info there but I'm not going to post the link as not to get the ban hammer. Not sure if that is allowed.

coverup story almost as bad as the original offense.

Unless he posts picture of his alleged girlfriend's purse and the bag he took this is just absolute BS. No one above high school age mistakes a woman's purse for a man bag.

Broken YouTube Link

So he returns the bag with 1k cash in it. Why not take it all? Seems odd. Guess the story hinges on whether or not the accuser had 20k cash in it or not.

It was actually smart. He can now say "If I was going to steal $20K I would have taken the whole thing, not just $19K". I can see why the guy runs well in tourneys. Very strategic.

Always leave 1BB back when you 'shove' 😉

It would be interesting to see the actual footage of him taking the bag. Like, was it near his bag? Did it seem like a mistake? He could've been high AF, grabbed the wrong bag, and went to the bathroom like most people do at a break. Then realized his mistake and returned it.

Also another interesting thing they could look at is when Corel bought into the tourney did he open his backpack at the cage to pull out $ and was any of the other $ visible. He said on Twitter that he is working to get the actual police report and post it.

Will be interesting to see if Zinno ever addresses the situation publicly or continues to stay quiet. He's a smart guy and with cameras everywhere it is surprising he would even do what he is accused of, but stranger things have happened.

Police report won’t “prove” anything. It just may reference that victim claimed $19k was missing. This won’t be proof that there was ever $20k in the bag to begin with. I’d like to give Zinno at least the presumption of innocence. Could he have grabbed what he thought was his massage-gf’s bag? The room was empty, no one was left to claim it. He then turned it into security when realized it’s not his gf’s bag. It’s not like that story isn’t plausible. I’d almost tend to believe that rather than stealing the contents and THEN turning over to security. Bottom line, we need a lot more details here. And again, Corel’s claim that his posting the police report will tell all is simply not true, it’ll be a document of his version of events only.
