What's the deal with accusations made about Anthony Zinno at Wynn/Encore at WPT December 2023?

Was listening to Only Friends Podcast Episode #443 and at approximately 16:52 an accusation is made about Anthony Zinno.

I'm having a hard time believing the accusation made, that Zinno took some dude named Corel's backpack during batting up of a 3k at Encore during WPT.

Does anyone have additional information or context?

You still seem to believe it is a lot closer to $11m than it actually is.

Repeat post, but you swung and missed

Sounds like he left the Encore with the bag and then returned and turned it in to security. Once he stepped outside the door, seems to me he stole a backpack with a minimum of $1k in it.

He doesn’t say if he ever found out the identity of owner prior to turning it in to security. (If he did, I’d presume his story is he couldn’t get in contact with him.)

you know , i found a cell phone today by a slot machine, you know what i did. i returned it straight to security. just like the other 6 or 7 phones i found last year and the 2 wallets and couple books bags .

story does not make logical sense.

he should be fine now after that borgata score , he can even payoff the guy who is filing the report

I think k the real lesson is here that when you are in a casino and you see a backpack/bag/wallet/chip on the floor/under the table/in the bathroom/etc. should be to immediately call a floor or security.

By going through it yourself you are just setting yourself up. Taking it off the property is even more stupid.

as someone who has practically lived on casino properties the last couple years , for them to have cited him and went through that whole procedure, their cameras spotted him doing something nefarious.

i know a couple people banned at the wynn, and it was over shady ****

Nice story by Zinno. Only took him a couple of days to come up with it. Too many gaps and holes in it for me. Why not just turn it into security immediately and not take it into a restroom and go through it in private. The biggest discrepancy of course is the amount of cash that was in the bag. He makes a point above not to mention that. Tell!

Lmao at “we really don’t know what he had of himself”

Yeah most lawyers can’t afford a 3K event, I’m sure he had to sell 89.98% of himself to play, Mr. Borg23

As far as actually what he did with bag, I don’t think we know so we can’t really comment if it makes sense or not.

And iirc you made the comment in this very thread, “if he’s busto, then everyone might as well give up tournaments.”

Who’s next?

Put it this way
It's far more likely he sold pieces of this 3k than he took the bag into the bathroom for any reason but to steal.

You can't give one legit reason this guy found a bag and ran into the bathroom with it.

And yea I stand by that comment. Most tournament grinders are broke clowns. If this guy is somehow broke too and resorting to stealing they should basically all pack it in.

I did the exact same thing! I saw it sitting on a machine as I was walking back from the bar to the poker room, and in fact I didn't even touch the damn thing, I just hit the button on the machine for assistance, and when someone came by I said "can you send security over, someone left their iPhone sitting here." Security came, took it, thanked me, and I went on about my day.

What I certainly didn't do was pick it up and leave the casino with it on some sort of super-hero mission to identify the owner myself.

Lol damn, no I don’t think that’s his net, but that’s obvious. The 11M in cashes has been brought up many times in this thread.

The brilliance of 2+2ers, burns so bright one has to wear shades

You used the term "earnings" in an attempt to make a point that one outcome was more likely than another. That was exactly why I noted it, and not anything else.

It was not "brilliant" by me (in a sarcastic sense or any other).

Replace "earnings" with "cashes" and the post becomes substantially different.

There is zero proof that 20k $$ was actually in the bag when Zinno picked it up. Or any other amount.

Get out of here with this

Earnings can either be gross or net. No one including me, thinks what’s on Hendon is net

In a sea of shining 2+2 stars, you are emerging as one of the brightest!

It’s my understanding there was $1k in the bag when turned in to security. Moot point IMO tho. He took a backpack worth X$s with contents worth min $1k + other items.

I’d say it’s very unlikely he sold large pieces of that 3K, and in general if you like at his trajectory and what he plays he is exactly the sort of person that would be playing with majority if not all of his own money

But this is a relative comparison, one genius told me “but Chino Rheem!”. And to that smart man I ask what about him. He’s not Chino Rheem.

All the other stuff we are debating if it makes sense or not, we aren’t working with many confirmed facts. But even you conceded that when he took the bag he probably didn’t know there was 20K in it. He’s not Clark Kent.

But you seemed to put a nefarious spin on him “running into the bathroom”!

Mr. Borg, did he run like Usain Bolt into that bathroom? Or maybe just like Michael Johnson?

You don’t read his tweet as he actually left the inside of Encore with the bag (and possibly took it home/his hotel room) then took it to security? That what he seems to have said.

I read the tweet, not a lot of details.

Mr. Borg paints a picture of a man racing into the stall like an F1 driver with his new ill gotten backup. But not sure that is confirmed however people do go to the bathroom sometimes simply because they have to go.

“ Unsuccessful, I brought the bag back to Encore…”.

Seems clear to me. Can’t bring something BACK TO Encore if you hadn’t left.

That’s worse than going into bathroom with it.

by RJT k

It could’ve had $0 in it and he added $1k of value

That's more plausible than his actual story, lol.

Mr. T, I didn’t try to track AZ’s movements that evening

this is my theory as well

by ScotchOnDaRocks k

Mr. T, I didn’t try to track AZ’s movements that evening

He went to the Cosmo with the bag then returned to Encore with it according to police report I just posted above. No need to suppose anymore. About movements or $1k.

Maybe Zinno felt sorry for the unknown owner and put $1k of his own money in the bag to pay it forward.

goddamn I love how the Zinno thread turned into the Berkey thread, great job idiotas

I once got a ticket for peeing on a tree and the cop asked what I was doing in the area. I said I was going to a friend's birthday party at a bar downtown. He then wrote on the ticket : Suspect said "I'M DRINKING!"

This is projection but it feels like some cops write the dumbest stuff when they report what people told them. There is no way this guy told him that he had 19k "to tip cocktail waitresses" and nothing else. It just makes it sound like the cop wasn't really paying attention and it paints the respondent as less reliable.
