As far as Amanda, you don't need to be a judge of women or have read Boyd's book. How does she get that job knowing nothing about poker. Then she is interviewing people who just made big scores and have money to throw around if they aren't wealthy. Great opportunity to try to meet a wealthy man. It works well for DN, because she is just interested in the money, and is OK that he isn't interested in women.

Wow! guy who gets paid millions to play poker, not win, just play poker lost out on millions cause of covid Absolutely tragic mate. Is there a go fund me we can donate to We should come together as a poker community and help the GG shill make up for the lost years. Negreanus not beating 200 rush an cash on gg. To be fair 99% of nl players aren't either

You get really worked up that he gets paid millions just to play and be a shill for a crooked site. Maybe a lot of the people with a bunch of bracelets can't beat 200 rush. Those online grinders probably couldn't beat $50K mixed game and PLO tournaments.

Not worked up just making a point he has unlimited ammo to fire these events. I do respect his win/loss transparency in the vlogs. Makes them almost watchable. It’s financially irresponsible for most people to play a 50k event. Maybe best mix player in the world can’t afford it. The player with the highest roi in the 50k mix event could easily never make the final table playing every year their whole life. Mtt variance is that cruel

Some people sell action. If you sell all your action at a markup, then it is like getting paid a fixed amount to play tournaments. Very few people in the $50K+ events are mostly playing with their own money. Most don't get bought in free like DN probably does though.

That 200 rush post was hilarious because literally no one should ever want to beat 200 rush unless they have absolutely nothing else going for them.

200nl is a time sink obv but instructive for solid nl fundamentals. Winning 200nl regs online are doing data base analysis on the EV of opening J9o from the CO. Point being it’s a tough pool to produce a win rate in on top of the high rake. It’s more impressive to me anyway to produce any kind of win rate in that kind of game, over a large sample vs. winning WSOP bracelet

You also have to be a good tournament player to win high stakes MTTs in NLHE, PLO, mixed, and any game.

My point is this is something absolutely no one should aspire to. This is like walking in to the high limit area of the poker room and telling them about the super tough 1/2 game in the room and that the high limit players must not be very good if they don’t come beat that game.

Wasting your time playing in super tough low limit games means you’re not actually winning, even if you are winning.

The world awaits that J9o analysis

Because of the amount of hands/volume you can get in online vs live it exposes who the winning and losing players are. In live poker a losing player can sun run for years, especially so in mtts and out run variance because of small sample/volume. Of course 200nl is not aspirational for anyone. But if you sent me a million hand sample with a poker tracker graph I’d be more impressed by that and willing to back you vs you showing me WSOP bracelets is all I’m saying

Not quite. In terms of classical statistics you're certainly correct. But if you can watch the player and see clear errors that he's making you can draw a conclusion much more quickly. And this is true even if he's ahead for a moderate length of time.

However, in no-limit being able to win an occasional large pot can make up for a lot of small errors. So, you need to consider this as well.

If you bowled an average score of 150 and made millions in sponsorship deals to bowl, it doesn't mean you're beating the game, it just means you're getting paid to play.

Catching up on this thread (what I get for having 2+2 blocked at work), and this caught my eye. As someone who averages about 150 in bowling, I'd love a world where that could make a weekly Happy Meal let alone sponsorship deals.

I know I've asked this several times, but are we sure that GG pays Negreanu's buy-ins (similar to what PokerStars used to do?). I thought he said he pays his own way now but I can't find where I heard that, either. My faulty memory has that coming up when he sold pieces of himself with no mark-up.

Then maybe you are in the wrong thread...

Without sponsorship, he would probably have much better stats. He would be playing a lot more tournaments and would be playing the events he thought were most profitable, not the ones GG wanted him to play. He has a big net loss in $100K+s since his cash for $8M in the $1M in 2014. He also has a huge net profit from tournament play going back to around 2000, so he would have mi

I would really like to see the numbers on this because he doesn't play a ton of 100ks and have a lot of 1st and 2nd in these after 2014.
Just the 2 scores from the SHB 300k are 3 Mills a pop already.

He said he pays his own way and given that he’s upfront with his results don’t see a reason not to believe him.

That said, the question really doesn’t matter and for all intents and purposes they are paying his buyins. We obviously don’t know the details of the contract but surely his salary is contingent on him playing a lot and the marquee events. Along with his vlog of course.

But to all the haters and jelly bellies he’s clearly a winning player. A 30 year heater really isn’t a thing.

Can you imagine being ignorant enough to thinks hes ran that high of distribution in his life He lost out on millions of equity at the WSOP 2021-2024ish (the smashing the phone into the wall years) getting it in good time after time and losing. You must of never watched the early years of High Stakes Poker either cause his distribution was pretty trash for a lot of the at too.

No he threw his phone like a child when he lost a few flips in a row and totally ignored how he got deep in events in the first place. The fact he got that upset over losing a few flips shows how good he's ran overall because when standard things happen to him he can't believe it.

Of course if he had to beat low- mid steaks stakes for living he'd be able to do so. Nobody says otherwise. He's in a dream spot so he doesn't have to.

1/2 rush is more like 10/20 NL live, because you are maybe playing 2 tables and a new hand comes up immediately when you fold, so you get more than 10 x the hands in during the same time live. You can't make money at it because it is tough, not because it is effectively low stakes.

by borg23

Lmao at “if he had to beat low mid steaks stakes he be able to”. Yeah no kidding JellyBelly since he’s consistently been beating high stakes mixed from beginning to career to a few days ago.

You just need to throw out SHR NLHE but that’s only if you cherry pick the dates and he can’t use the 2nd in 1M One Drop.

by borg23

If you watched the vlogs those 2 or 3 years it was way worse then losing a few flips. It was losing a lot of 80/20s and 70/30s in big spots close to the money or barely in the money. Also a lot of people get on here and act like he couldn't crush every live 2/3 and 5/10 game in the country if he was forced to put his 100 percent focus on doing so. Again I know Ill be called a nut hugger but these are just the facts. He has plenty of faults as a person but being terrible at poker isnt one of them.

by timber63401

The toxic masculinity made some people clutch their pearls. And a few years later still not over the horror!

Yeah, I don't think DN is a superstar and don't care for a lot of things about him. However, you all are totally misrepresenting him. He is a good high stakes tournament player.

Does anyone know what his ROI is over the past few years.
Thats the real skill indicator.

Variance could make Danny worse than he is.

Daniel lion!

by TwoBalconies

Without sponsorships I think Daniel fades away like most of the guys we first saw high stakes poker with those cool 100k bricks of cash. He was making around 4 mil a year with poker stars for 12 years
