OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of
What’s up with Astor? Is she hot now?
Just finished the Dexter: Original Sin prequel and found it surprisingly decent, better than it had any right to be. I'm currently watching the latest Dexter Resurrection series and so far the first two episodes are interesting, but too early to make a call either way.
2 episodes into Dexter Resurrection and they are riding the balance between the original series tone and nostalgia parade pretty well
Apple TV+'s Stick had it season finale released. The season overall had a pretty rough start, but glad they managed to find their groove in the second half. The plot was so predictable I don't think there was a single turn I didn't see coming, but for me the main problem was half the cast sucking big time. Owen Wilson and Marc Maron did the best they could with the material they were given, but Elena, Santi, and Zero were so bad I think I almost gave up on the show 3 or 4 episodes in before finally deciding to stick with it. Going to spoiler this next part for the people who haven't seen the show yet.
Spoiler
So the mom basically strong-arms Owen Wilson into giving her $100k so the latter can train her son and accompany him to tournaments. Then after basically bankrupting Owen with her insane demands, she still has the gall to whine about not wanting to slum it in a RV to save money but instead wants a hotel room, yet doesn't get herself one with her newfound wealth, but gets the guys to put her up after complaining a bunch. If anything, she should be the one paying a retired pro for the opportunity to train her son, but instead she gets freerolled every step of the way.
Santi is just a kid so some of his behavior can probably be blamed on that, but the entire "I love playing golf and want to be the best" and "uh, oh, thing's aren't going my way, better throw a hissy fit and run away" dichotomy was pretty annoying. Either you want to play so get with the program or you don't so pack it up. Him going between these two extremes was definitely one of the most annoying parts of the entire season. Especially considering he's being handed everything on a silver platter yet he still sandbags the entire operation.
Zero, well, I have no idea what the writers were thinking there, but listening to the lines she delivers, especially in the first couple of episodes she's in, the writer's must've fed an AI prompt like "generate me random lines that have the highest probability of riling up the anti-woke crowd". Also the fact that she's old enough to tend bar, meaning she's at least 21 and is banging a 17 year old is kind of weird.
As mentioned, the back half of the season was definitely an improvement over the first episodes and some rougher edges get sanded off. Those who haven't seen it but are thinking on, the episodes 3 and 4 are probably the low point, but the show settles into an upwards trajectory after that and even the characters I mentioned being annoying become more bearable.
The Eternaut is the show of the year

well said.
I basically tuned out when it wasnt the good actors.
Zero is ***** ****. If she were pretty i could take it but being a 4/10 ruins it.
santi i want to beat up, he needs bullying
and the mom is just complete trash. Like it feels more racist than anything else and im usualy ok with racist jokes.
Another really good Dexter with lots of fun cameos. There's so many different ways it can go now, and I have no idea which way they'll choose.
Loved Ballard. but I was a big Bosch fan
i started bosch because of a comment earlier. This show is so fun. we watch it with dinner most nights. It's actually good for conversations. we constantly talk while watching it.
I liked Bosch, but didn't make it through the first, maybe second episode of Legacy. Does Legacy get better?
IIRC I've watched 7 seasons of Dexter and stopped before the final, or something like that.
What should I watch next? Skipping season 8? Starting from New Blood sounds about right?
I don't think you really miss anything, besides a certain death, if you dont watch S8. New Blood is worth it.
The new season Ressurection is really great so far 4 episodes in. The vegan running gag is cracking me up
If they keep this up, its comfortably up there with S1-S4. Dexter is great again, in 2025, who would have thought
Also South Park
Whoah.. lol. They are really going all in

For those looking for another great police -serial killer drama I recommend Mr. Mercedes S1 on Peacock from 2017. Based on a Stephen King novel and Dave E Kelley developed it. The villain is this show is the real star of this show and is known to the audience from ep 1 to final ep 10. Lots of other great characters here too. He is a fully developed character with great lines. He deliberately crashes a Mercedes into a bunch of people waiting in line for jobs.
I think what I'm really liking about this season of Dexter is how there's so much going on each episode. Yet they manage to keep everything from spiraling and they're able to wrap up little storylines without anything feeling rushed.
so I'm watching copaganda show Bosch legacy, and it's enjoyable enough to distract me from the pain of life... but I'm noticing the guest stars are shockingly bad actors lol
like I don't understand why they cast such awful actors. LA is filled with really talented actors desperate for work.
The casting couch is real.
Hey, maybe they should make a show about *that*.
On Epix Godfather of Harlem is pretty good, From and Chapelwaite are good but I haven't finished them yet. There is 2 seasons of Condor on there also, that is good. On Starz there is Power and the spin offs, which are decent but not as good. Shining Vale I am not sure, haven't finished. Hightown is good(Season 2 better), P-valley is ok, new season coming. And Outlander, but I h
Hightown is now on Netflix. 5 eps in and it’s good. Drug underworld / cop show set on cape cod.

Tribute to Dragnet, the original police procedural with overly stiff guest characters.
Yeah, I saw Hightown. It was pretty good, too bad it was canceled. Well my favorite show that no one else watches is back for a 4th season on Apple. Acapulco. It's a charming feel good comedy set in the 1980's in Mexico. It might take a few eps to get into it, but certainly worth it.
Tried to watch this series on Amazon called "The Sixth Commandment," a true crime story series with 4 episodes. I stopped after 20 minutes. I would definitely watch a documentary about this story, but didn't want to slog through a few hours of it. Some good actors in this so it's probably pretty good.
Anyone catch Chief of War yet?
Dexter's starting to get a bit silly albeit still entertaining. I already found the part in the first episode, where his killing of Logan in New Blood, was deemed self defence and not an escape attempt really dumb but was prepared to overlook it, just for the sake of it, although it still rankled me.
However,
Spoiler
Mia picking up a would be victim in a bar and bringing him back to her place, without that being potentially disastrous in terms of arrest, followed by Harrison not seeming to wonder how Dexter happened to know the address of an at large serial killer
is starting to stretch things, although maybe he'll ask Dex in the next episode. But I'm still finding it pretty silly.
Rewatching The Pacific after reading 'With The Old Breed'
Its such an amazing show imo, my favorite tv series alongside Band of Brothers.
To bad it got a bad rep because it isn't like Bob, but on a whole its almost as good imo. The highs (ep 5-7 and 9) are better than BoB, but there definitely are some duds like ep 3 and 4)
I like that its alot more depressing and bleak than BoB, sometimes war was almost to romanticized there.
'With the Old Breed' is a fascinating read. In the show, they toned a lot of the horror down.
Masters of the Air, now that was not good at all.
You tried SAS: Rogue Heroes?
Very loosely based on the true story of the SAS's formation, less 'serious' or heavy than BOB or Pacific, but very entertaining.
