brit tv used to be great about this. normal people who were ****ing awesome! just like you said

but they are casting more and more "beautiful" people, and with less and less soul

The seams becoming rather prominent in The Pitt s2

idk what this means lol. but this show is delivering. great series!

I'm undecided on star fleet academy. there are things to like about it, and things that suck. my main point is the hate it's getting is mostly coming from people who are opposed to inclusive representation which is sad and lol. like hate on the show for the glaring plot holes, or the silly one dimensional supporting characters. but don't hate on it for characters who are differ

I'm still undecided, as well, and I honestly can't understand why the "wokeness" of this series would annoy any true Trek fan, as the franchise has been like this for 6 decades. It's part of what's good about it, I mean, if you're going to travel to the stars, you sort of have to accept that old earth mores aren't going to hold up.

I was a junior in high school when TOS premiered, so I'll keep watching (for now, at least) because it's Star Trek.

My complaint, similar to my ongoing disappointment with the newer series', is that they throw everything but the kitchen sink of Trek images, memorabilia, etc. at you as if a true fan needs to see all of their past in the present to buy into the series. On one pan shot of the students, they even had one student that was the black one side/white the other species from "Let That be Your Last Battlefield." It annoyed me because why not let that goofy makeup excuse for modern CGI imagery fade into memory?

Don't throw Trek history at us all at once. Let the current cast reveal the connection gradually through the plot.

Maybe in the end, I'm more in tune with Dom's criticism...I'm worried this will be too much a teens in school coming of age story than the next chapter in the franchise.

Yeah I'm going to pass on Star Trek 90210

high school can be a fantastic setting for storytelling of hella different genres. and some of it can be legit drama.

Buffy the vampire slayer is a great example.

maybe this trek will suck. but I'm def ok with trying out trek with young people in the academy.

RIP English Teacher
Speaking of school shows. Two great seasons. Half of a dozen incredible performances. Cut short because the star/creator got accused of bad sex practices

I was thinking of Ms Frizzle and the Magic School Bus

u guys need to rewatch The OC/Gilmore girls. Great highschool shows too.

Gossip girl isnt top level but it's got good story lines throughout highschool as well

halfway through the beast in me and I'm liking it!

I had 0 interest in watching it, but someone itt said it was good, so I thought i'd give it a shot. I was drawn in by the performances of the two leads, Claire Danes and the guy from the Americans. both are great! and good characters too.

I know it's just three episodes in, but S2 of The Pitt is not delivering as expected. Maybe my expectations were too high? But I was one who really liked the first half of S1, and the second half somewhat less, so perhaps this time it'll be the reverse?

Spartacus: House of Asher is such a fun watch. It has just enough of what made the earlier offerings great, while having some freshness to it. And it's so unabashedly over the top, which is all too rare for TV. And at 8 episodes, it's a great binge watch.

I liked it, just not the many times Claire Danes does her pfffft thing making her seem like the exact same character she played in Homeland.

she does do the pfft thing a lot. it's kinda weird.

watching her perform though, I think back to when she was a kid, and she was in Romeo and juliet with DiCaprio. they were both great, but imo she kinda outdid him. she was just more skilled imo.

but either way, they were really similar in terms of appeal, marketability, talent and all that... and then his star power just went through the roof, and her's didn't.

Since we're on Star Trek

I haven't seen R and J, but I watched U-Turn last week and she was very young in that. I don't think I would have even recognized her had I not known going in that she was in the cast.

I have a nostalgic love of Romeo and Juliet from a time in my teens when me and my friends realised if we washed, stopped playing Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball on the Xbox, and instead watched R+J or Moulin Rogue every weekend, then girls would actually want to hang out with us!

Quite the revelation. Not seen it in 25 years, so no idea if it's any good.

The soundtrack was bangin

Has anyone checked out S2 of Drops of God? Really liked the first season and wondering if it's maintained its quality through the first few episodes.

An interesting perspective of the TV show The Pitt from an ER doctor. This was sent to me by a doctor friend of mine. He says the PTSD is real. I believe it.

PTSD is real?!?! you don't say :p

also the link doesn't work for me

It could help patients understand why their wait is long. (It is not because someone doesn't care.)

here is a quote from the essay.

this is absolutely false!!! ask Luigi mangione

never heard of this, and started watching cuz of this post. it's great!!! thanks!

I'm still on season 1. 1 episode left.

great characters. I love how it has some manga feel, since it's based on a manga.

it's always good when the subject is something I'm not really interested in, but still drawn in just cuz of the storytelling.

love the juxtaposition of Japanese and French cultures and languages and characters
