I got a pop up message when i signed in to global this morning. It said California is looking to ban sweepstakes poker? does anyone have more info on this? how much time do we have left? this is a very sad day =(

Yeah, there is a hearing July 8. A bill has passed through some of the necessary steps. We'll know more shortly. If this passed I think Global, Clubs and WPT Gold are done too. California makes up a big portion of these sites player base.

The bill doesn't even need to pass....examples in NY, LA, MS. If the AG believes they are already acting illegally they will just send a cease and desist to the site just like the other states did without passing any laws. The sites have listened to the AG in every case so far and left the states

I have written Gavin Newsom requesting to secede from the nation in efforts to give us access to RoW sites like GG/Stars. Eagerly waiting a response.

Games are really dying on here. There's a lot less action than Clubwptgold and Clubspoker despite Global having far superior interface, rakeback and the lowest rake. Influencers should be shilling for Global but the dumb WPT brand and their terrible software is somehow winning out. I don't get it. But it sure is frustrating.

That's what happens when sites ban people for no reason with no recourse and steal their money.

The oversight company they referred me to for arbitration doesn't even work with them anymore and the other one costs 1/4 of the money they stole just to get into arbitration which I'm sure is rigged in their favor somehow anyway. Absolute criminals they are.

I don't intend to join the rigtard brigade, but villains are making a LOT of perfect river decisions the past few days.

I just don't understand what's going on with the software. no problems for YEARS and now constant table freezes. tables I know are running won't show in the lobby. entire limits will just disappear. wft!

Site traffic is dwindling but games def softer after pulling out of “reggy” states like Nevada, New York and New Jersey.

Is global poker pulling out of NJ?

I just got the dreaded email at 7pm from Global, Luckylands, and Chumba. They are leaving Louisiana. July 17th no longer allowed to collect SC, Aug. 15th no longer allowed to play SC, Sept 12th no longer able to redeem SC. I kind of already prepared myself as I knew it was coming. Good luck everyone. Hoping for the best in the future

Poker ring games down atm?

Back in GP for the first time in a while and my god have they slashed guarantees.

Obviously I have you troll. I'm saying they should shove their deal and shill for Global.

Maybe Global shouldn't throw away their marketing spend by spending money on guys like Michael Phelps and DJ Khaled. Their marketing is almost as braindead as their security team.

there's tax on deposits now? how long has that been a thing?

So are all sweeps stakes poker sites going to go away? Or is global just the one?

From an article posted July 10th:

As of Wednesday evening, Sweepsy was aware of players in Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii receiving notice about the new sales tax, although we do not have a definitive list of which states will now see a sales tax on VGW sites.

Club WPT Gold has only been around about six months and is already pulling out of states.

I think they're charging it in several states in an effort to show those gov'ts they can generate tax revenue if they'd just allow them to. The initial effort was to California, as there's a chance Cali bans sweeps poker in the near future

All the states these sites serve are sending cease and desist letters because obv they're operating on a bs loophole. Many of those states have already passed laws straight up banning sweeps sites or are in the process of doing so. The sites are just losing states, slowly, one by one

add Georgia to the list of states paying tax on purchases now

Is it my imagination, or does it seem like they have rolled back the software to an earlier version, and removed some of the recent bugs in the process?

There are still random people timing out, but it's not as bad as it was before

For the first time in probably 5 years, GP has an after party and no boosted daily log-in bonuses. Or purchase bonus on one of the days. Is the poker side losing money?

If my business was nationwide and I lost 5 or 6 states this year plus having more states on deck for this calendar year.........I wouldn't give anything away for free lol.....ever again. The sweepstakes laws don't even matter at this point (which are a joke anyway). Gold has no daily login bonus. They just make things up as they go which is what grey area gambling sites have always done

I seem to remember seeing VGW financials a few years ago and poker was almost a loss leader at that point. If it's worse now, as it seems from every indication, why would they even keep the poker going? Just rebrand as Global Slots where you can take pretty much any profit margin you want and go on with your day.

That said it's beyond stupid we don't have access to Poker Stars nationwide in the US.
