Hmmm - no bourbon thread?
my body really isn't recovering as well as it used to after scotch, so I've started dipping my toe into Bourbon waters.
I keep seeing all these Bookers posts on the Costco alcohol subreddit and there are 3 warehouses within a half-hour of where I live, and...nothing
I had a bookers in hand at msrp the other day and almost bought it. Ended up going with a rare eagle instead.
Bookers are hit or miss and at 90-110$ it’s tough to lean into the variance. Costco might be closer to 75 which is probably about right when talking ~8 year whiskey from a big distillery.
I’m out of state currently and going to do some hunting tomorrow. It’s not the finding bottles part that stops me, it’s the finding bottles for the right price part
I finally found an even MORE expensive secondary market liquor store... the guy was nice enough, but he was asking 799 for Jack 14 and 599 for weller 107.
I respectfully declined.
I did get the jack single barrel barrel proof 375ml tester and a Calumet 16 year at another store. I've also been seeing a lot of Russell's 10 on the shelf for msrp... I am tempted.

I wish I could be so lucky as finding via MSRP... and I live in one of the biggest Alcohol markets in all of the USA.
Love the portrait!
I've been meaning to ask you this but didn't want to sound obtuse: If you are a non-drinker, why the collection of hard to find bourbons? I'm envious, but as a drinker I'd be slowly draining those things. I just can't wrap my head around it. And as I said previously itt (I think), if you have been a non-drinker for years I certainly wouldn't encourage you to change that on a whim.
Spoiler
Sorry for the personal intrusion. I'm just a nosey SOB.
I've never really been a non drinker in the context that I needed to stop because of habitual issues. I stopped drinking YEARS ago because I was having severe issues with gout based on my heavy consumption of thick Ale's, high proof beers and Cabernet's... though I was never really a daily drinker.
Its been a number of years since my last severe gout attack since I stopped drinking, and being retired its a bit boring... so I starting collecting Bourbon.
With all the bottles I've collected, I've only opened a Jack Barrel strength and this Willet... I dont think I will open any more bottles for time being.

And I love taking pictures of stuff... 😀
I do more tasting than I do drinking, and I don't really get drunk.
👍
I'm enjoying the vicarious bourbon trip. And the pics.
I opened the Jacobs Pardon and it ended up being a light whiskey, which can be good, but in my excitement I thought it was going to be a hazmat 18 year old bourbon.
Also bought then opened a 9 year old Rare Character Rye barrel pick which is fantastic. Its probably pretty similar to the Michters 10 year rye, which was a great pickup for you schu
I hate that... I have done it before, bought a great bottle and discovered that it was only 45ABV.
I have actively searching for a bottle of Hazmat right now... 13th Century Whiskey
Is anyone looking for a bottle of Weller 107?
I might have a couple extra bottles that I bought unnecessarily.
lol... not that many. I got 3 bottles and I dont really need that many because I have one already. I will keep one for back up, the others I might try and sell online.
I also have two Russell's reserves I dont need.
both bottles are really really good bottles.
