OOT Super Bowl Squares 2025

OOT Super Bowl Squares 2025

Mod note: OP has been edited to show the final payouts for the $200 board which was changed to $100.

Like it or not, it's that time again.

$10 - 125/250/125/500(final score)
$25 - 300/650/300/1250(final score)
$50 - 625/1250/625/2500(final score)
$200 - Pays on every score change & final score

Even though it didn't fill at $250 and I had to drop it to $125, the "every score change" board seemed to be mostly well received last year, so we're going to run it back. Only this year I'm dropping it to $200. If it doesn't fill, it'll either run with blank squares or again be cut in half - depending on how many sell.

Here's how this board works - every time points go on the board, somebody wins. If a field goal is the first score, whoever has 3-0 wins. If the next score is a touchdown by the other team, 3-6 wins. When the extra point gets kicked, 3-7 wins. Easy enough? Good. The end of quarters or halftime don't matter in this pool. Final score does. Whoever has the final score right will be the big winner. Instead of having one set amount for each score change, or a set amount for the final score winner, and risking a high or low scoring game taking away from the spirit of this pool, I'm going with a sliding scale.

of score changes

1-5 = $1200 per change
6-8 = $800
9-12 = $600
13-25 = $400
25+ = everything split evenly

Here it is broken all the way down
Score changes = Amount per score change / Amount to final winner(in addition to the money from the final score change)
1 = 1.2k per change / 8.8k to the final
2 = 1.2k / 7.6k
3 = 1.2k / 6.4k
4 = 1.2k / 5.2k
5 = 1.2k / 4k
6 = 800 / 5.2k
7 = 800 / 4.4k
8 = 800 / 3.6k
9 = 600 / 4.6k
10 = 600 / 4k
11 = 600 / 3.4k
12 = 600 / 2.8k
13 = 400 / 4.8k
14 = 400 / 4.4k
15 = 400 / 4k
16 = 400 / 3.6k
17 = 400 / 3.2k
18 = 400 / 2.8k
19 = 400 / 2.4k
20 = 400 / 2k
21 = 400 / 1.6k
22 = 400 / 1.2k
23 = 400 / 800
24 = 400 / 400
25 = 400

Last year there were 13 score changes and the average has been about 14 over the past 10 years.

I'm sure there will be questions, so ask away.

@ec, can you confirm that for the $100 squares that 0-0 will NOT receive an initial payout for being the "first" score? ie a TD/FG/Safety is needed to be the first score

Confirmed, 0-0 does NOT pay out for the first score of the game because, well, nobody scored. Though I know some people do it that way, last year I chose not to so I stuck with the same rules for this year.

ETA: I'll revisit it next year when I'm making some other changes to the payouts.

Perfect, just want it confirmed in the thread

Def up for the "freeroll" next year though, if you change it up 😀

I think a better idea is 0-0 gets their entry fee back. Makes it a little more interesting when generating numbers without giving 0-0 even more equity than it already has.

I like the thought but maybe since 0-0 has a lot of equity anyway, maybe I do something like 2-2, 5-5, and 8-8 get their money back. I don't know, just something to think about to add a twist. Though I better worry about getting through this year first, lol.

my local score change boards pay all drawn doubles their money back
essentially anything won by other ones is shaved by 0.1

may be extremely pleasing after being dealt pocket nickles or ducks

Just as part of the gamble gamble? Some of those pairs seem like they might pay out at least once (33, 77, more as the game progesses)

sell it as a 1n10 chance to get your money back
effectively decreasing the cost of your entry fee

Everyone drawing a pair gets their buy in back unless they also hit a score change along the way? So using this current $100 board as an example - set $1000 aside to pay the 10 pairs. If 7-7 hits, the $100 that square was originally in line for gets added to the payouts of the other pairs who don't hit a score change. Basically that $1000 gets divided up between all the pairs who didn't win anything else.

Maybe that's too much going on, but hopefully it'll be a "shut up and take my money" situation and as long as people don't have to track anything extra themselves, it'll come off as a good idea.

Hey, slow down there, Poindexter. Some of us didn't go to MIT...

If you catch on as quickly as you did with the PayPal transfers you'll have it figured out in no time. 5-7 years tops!

I like it too. The more tricked up the better.

I’ll take another $200 in an effort to get it sold out.

Pmt sent.

I'll take a $100

Thanks for grabbing some extra squares. I'm not too worried about the $100 selling out(easy to say at this point with only 5 left), but the $25 is going to be close. I'll throw more money at it as well and make every effort to find people to buy up the rest. Still a few days left so no panic yet.

If and when the $100s do sell out, if any last minute folks come along looking for some, any of you who grabbed extras to help out but would rather unload those extras, I'll be happy to make that happen.

Suggestion: Ring a bell 24 hours before closing the #2 $25.

There are probably a few of us that would jump in for a couple of squares under those circumstances but don't really want to if we don't need to.
