Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

Happy Invincible season 3 day. The show is so damn good.

I freaking love this show.

Season 3 has started that strong it's quickly becoming the Goat superhero show for me

I'm not sure why, but shows like The Pitt and The Bear hold no interest for me. I do t want to see medical emergencies lol. I remember loving ER until the Loves Labour Lost episode, where Mark Green has to deliver a C-section when he's never done it before.

It absolutely wrecked me. I don't need that before going to bed, you know?

And The Bear...I just don't care about kitchen drama, no matter how good it might be. Strangely, I love Anthony Bourdain and can binge a few Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey just fine, tho.

Another great Severance episode.

Spoiler
Show

I thought that may have been Helly's outtie the whole time, but also thought that theory lost legs in Ep 2 or 3 when they showed everyone getting to Lumon in the morning and showing her go down the elevator. Completely forgetting of course they'd have ways of getting her down there without switching to her innie.

I thought the finale of Dexter OS was solid as well. Overall I'd give the season a 7.5/10. The only nitpick for me in the finale was

Spoiler
Show

Brian and Harry meeting. When we know Brian's motives for his recent kills were people that either hurt him or kept him from Dexter, no one fits that more than Harry. So, Brian letting Harry live just didn't feel believable to me.

That looks like Adam Sandler uploaded an image of himself into an AI and asked it to make him more handsome.

Binged the last 6 final episodes of Cobra Kai last night. I love this show It has gotten more and more ridiculously over the top with each new season. But I thought they wrapped it up gloriously. Very satisfying closure and completion for all characters.

I especially loved how they brought practically every character who had been in any of the movies back into this thing. It was often stupid but always extremely entertaining. Johnny Lawrence? Easily a top ten TV character of all time. Zabka killed it in practically every scene and the character was written almost perfectly. Stupid, mindless entertainment for sure but so much fun to watch!

Valentine's is gonna be a busy day

Severance
Dexter OS season finale
Season premiere (2 eps) of YellowJackets

All of these ranged from damn good to great! Along with The Pitt and Shoresy, which were both awesome! Hell of a Friday lol

^^ lol at the adam sandler comment.

Cobrai kai writers are basically just old generation x guys entering "give me ******ed kung fu movie meets american high school drama" in an AI and then they take a bunch of mushrooms and rewrite those ideas. I love it, its so dumb and fun.

Another great Severance episode.

I have lost interest in Severance. Nothing to do with the actual show.....I just don't enjoy having to wait a week for a new episode.

I personally like at how real The Pitt feels. I'm not a doctor, so maybe I am way off about that.

Then the episode The Captain's Cup/The Folks from Home/Legal Eagle must have ruined The Love Boat for you.

My wife and I like the show. She is an MD/PhD and says the ER in the show is WAY more busy than any she's worked in.... including a fairly "busy" middle sized town ER.

Funniest story is when a street guy comes in complaining of blue balls only to discover that in the heat of a summer SE USA day..... with new blue jeans.... he did indeed have blue balls.

My sister went to see a doctor once because she was turning blue....due to the dye in her new blue dress running

I think it needs to be more busy to get everything in that they are trying to convey.

yeah most depictions of war have 10x more death than it would be in reality

ie after watching saving private ryan you'd think it was a coin flip if you'd have survived landing at normandy

yet in reality only about 3-5% of those who landed died that day, in reality it was a well planned out operation where despite tons of things going wrong the deck was so stacked that it was still an overwhelming success where they easily found cover behind the sea wall and then carefully traversed up the cliffs and ravines which provided cover and then easily overran the token defense forces manning the bunkers (which were 1-3 kilometers inland and surrended/fled almost immediately because nobody in their right mind says "if i stay here keep firing I will die but kill 3 more of them before that happens" when instead they say "wtf there's thousands of them, I didn't sign up for this I'm leaving"

but nevertheless, when d-day veterans watched the scene, it brought forward cases of ptsd and triggered terrible memories of the event because no matter how likely it was that they would survive that day, you just can't convey the fear battle would convey by showing that most people are safely holding under cover and going to methodically move up the ravine over a time period of 6 hours during lulls in the firing from bunkers firing from pretty much their max range

you need the exaggeration in order to convey those visceral emotions over film

Lol I'm sure this is hilarious, but I don't think I know Love Boat episodes by title

This is why i'll recommend again to read the last kingdom books or his other history books. He consults with war historians to get these kind of things straight. It's really fun.

FWIW, Saving Private Ryan was Omaha Beach, which had the highest casualty rate of the 5 landing points, and for the record, the first wave that landed there had a 90% casualty rate.

The landings continued throughout the day and the German defense was gradually eliminated over time. The later waves faced very little resistance.

I watched The Gorge on AppleTV so that you guys don't have to do the same. Definite pass. Very dumb.

yep, lesson learned

Then wait 3 years for the next one.

This is why I wait for a show to finish or have 5 seasons released.

really? I enjoyed it quite a bit. Loved the two leads...it was well-written and fun. I really liked them falling in love without talking to each other first. And the Gorge part had some serious Annihilation/Last Of Us vibes. Not as serious as those two of course, but I still thought it was great fun.
