Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

really? I enjoyed it quite a bit. Loved the two leads...it was well-written and fun. I really liked them falling in love without talking to each other first. And the Gorge part had some serious Annihilation/Last Of Us vibes. Not as serious as those two of course, but I still thought it was great fun.

There were some visual elements in The Gorge that I liked, but Annihiliation is a million times mor successful as a movie. I had a hard time getting past the preposterous setup.

I also didn't love ATJ in this movie. I go hot and cold on her. I loved her in Queen's Gambit and The Witch. I liked her in Split and The Menu. I thought she was fine in the Fury road sequel (and better than I expected). I thought she was entirely forgettable in Peaky Blinders. In The Gorge, I thought her Russian accent came and went and I thought she struggled with the physicality (probably because the cuts were quicker in the Fury Road sequel).

interesting...I thought she was charming. She has a real star quality and a unique face.

I agree most of the time.

FWIW, Saving Private Ryan was Omaha Beach, which had the highest casualty rate of the 5 landing points, and for the record, the first wave that landed there had a 90% casualty rate.

The landings continued throughout the day and the German defense was gradually eliminated over time. The later waves faced very little resistance.

this is utter nonsense

there were only two waves in total, you're just repeating mythology

34k troops landed

2,400 casualities - this includes the missing, the sick, the injured, if you got seasick and couldn't fight as a result you were a casualtie

conservatively we can say 1k died of the 34k that landed

even if casualties was 100% death instead of a more realistic 10-30% and it was 100% on the first wave (it wasn't, by the time the 2nd wave landed the first wave was still hunkered down behind the sea wall) then it's 2.4k/17k dead - nowhere close to your 90% nonsense

The Gorge is a great popcorn movie

The best part of White Lotus Season 3, episode 1:

Spoiler
Show

I see Greg!!!

Not trying to step on Parisron’s toes but we have another busy week this week. Reacher season 3’s first 3 episodes, Zero Day with De Niro, plus the usual Severance, The Pitt and Yellowjackets!

Zero Day looks interesting and seems like it will touch on some hot button topics. But my viewing habits have changed to the point I don't know if I would enjoy watching it week to week. I am definitely a wait until the season is over and binge watch type viewer on a lot of shows now. Silo would have annoyed me, like many posters here, if I had watched it week to week. But as a binge watch it was fine. Severance is the rare show I enjoy watching week to week.

lol, plus Suits LA and season 2 of 1923 on Sunday.

All those new shows coming out and I still find myself re watching classic Star Trek every night

So, on Zero Day, Robert De Niro is dementia Biden who didn't run for the 2nd term and was replaced by Angela Bassett (Kamala).

Netflix wrote this in late 2022. You can't make this up. lol

That could've easily been made up by anyone who follows US politics at all.

Is that any good or garbage? Need a new show

I finished it, it's decent not great. It's entertaining enough.

wow, the reviews for Zero Day are brutal

trying to pinpoint the moment that De Niro started mailing it in and just doing it for the cheques isn't an exact science but I do think it's probably 99 when he did Analyze This

not many (if any) 'de Niro' performances after that

Reacher is good popcorn fun. Just blazed through the 3 episodes available for season 3.

Yeah, it’s getting absolutely **** on. And after 2 episodes, it kinda deserves it lol

re. zero day reviews:
Trump doesn't like this show, for obvious reasons. and that's why the reviews are like this.
you guys live under censorship rules, and apparently haven't realized it yet.

Spicy take - I was more hyped to see Jesse Plemons and Lizzy Caplan in the cast 😊

Is it that bad? First two reviews I saw were both 4* (The Guardian & Empire), but seen some shitty ones since.

Watched the first two episodes of Fight Night: the Million Dollar Heist, with Kevin Hart, Don Cheadle, and Samuel L. Jackson. Very entertaining with lots of 70s era clothes and design and stuff. Which I love lol.

Hart is a damn good dramatic actor. I had no idea. The actor playing Muhammad Ali is also good...he doesnt bother trying to do an impression, but does capture Ali's swagger.

Did you see True Story with Kevin and Wesley Snipes? I really liked it and it was the first thing I’d seen Hart do something different. Very impressive!

Reacher is good popcorn fun. Just blazed through the 3 episodes available for season 3.

Unlike many other shows that wait years in between seasons, I like that they must wrap the shoot for a season of Reacher, then start filming the next season about two weeks later.
