When baseball broadcasts put idiotic situational stats instead of the hitter's season stats.

Max Kepler
Runners on 1st and 3rd with one out: .333 1HR 3RBI

Career stats against teams are similarly dumb.
Kepler 8 seasons, 11 for 42 against the Phils. Means very little as games kind of change from pitcher to pitcher.

You must love Friday night baseball on Apple.

I think Apple does a good job with those games.

New business construction that doesn't list what they're building on the perimeter fence. I want to know what's coming in that lot!

Also, that PayPal's monthly statements don't specify there are no transactions when true. Just empty space.

LKJ - Have you seen the idiotic in-game stats they show for each pitch? I haven't seen it this year so maybe they have improved, but they'd do things like increase a player's hit expectation when the count gets to 0-2.

In the past I thought that was something that should piss me off. But apparently at least for franchise/chain restaurants there's some marketing science behind when to put up that sign on the fence.

I've seen the real-time stats they do. I haven't seen nonsensical stuff like what you're describing happen, but I don't see most games; pretty much just watching when the Mariners land on there.

When going to concerts and talking to the folks around me. They're so full of obviously incorrect information about the band in question it's amazing. Dude, you're 21 and holding a device in your hand where you can read anything anyone in the band has said and done ever.

I can understand it back in 1999 when you were discussing a setlist and the idiots around you weren't on AOL but today? Come on.

Doing some research, it seems they have gotten better and cut out most of the really bad stuff. Apple contracts this out to a company that doesn't really do baseball and it seems they were "over-fitting" the data. From a FanGraphs article two years ago - "If the screen displays that a hitter is 5-for-7 on Fridays against opposite-handed pitching in the sixth inning or later, you rightly say “yeah, that doesn’t sound like it matters.” link So they were using extremely small sample sizes for specific batters and situations.

Last time Roger Waters was thru town (outside), a bunch of my HS/College friends and I went (this was the infamous (locally) flying pig incident that stopped flight operations at Luke AFB briefly) Anywho, I had to tell one of the girls to STFU during the show 'cause she wanted to chat about anything/everything, and not listen to the ****ing concert!

Note, we were all pushing close to 50yo at this point.

Does and should PMO, but I'll post here anyway.

I'm not sure when the last time was that I could actually hear someone talking at a concert unless they were speaking right into my ear.

I know I should just let them all get on with it because it's ultimately harmless, but the extreme nittery really pisses me off

Pouring things. 9 times out of 10 when I pour something not only does it come out where I want it to but it also runs down the side of the cup and dribbles off the bottom. It's really been burning me up lately.

Happens to me all the time, pisses me off and I don't think it shouldn't.

The part that shouldn't piss me off because it's 100% avoidable is that there's never a cloth around to clean it up so I have to use a paper towel.

Gotta pour hard with confidence!

The downside is that sometimes you will really confidently spill a lot of liquid everywhere.

My kettle does this and it drives me mad. Thousand of years of using kettle-like things, and it is still dribbling boiling water onto my feet.

AzDaughter1 teaches science to our youth, which in this day and age means getting to demonstrate all the labs instead of letting the youth learn 'hands on' (bet the super saturated solution lab always works for her)(my favorite lab from HS chem). Anywho, she explained that one must 'commit to the pour' when transferring liquids. Or as Jish said, pour with confidence!

Yeah, that works 100% of the time, except for when it doesn't.
