New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Get on the mailing list!!! Habit currently has BOGO Santa Barbara's! Promo SANTA

Also other free stuff too like shakes. Later next week is BOGO Charburgers.

Yeah I went there this week for that. I missed what it was last week after I swiped the app notification away not realizing it was a code you have to enter and it isn't just automatically added in your offers.

The new Jersey Mikes location has a BOGO for the grand opening for a few more days. Gonna have gotten as many free subs as paid in the last 2 weeks.

My name is Mark also. Fear us fast food owners!

I’ve always maintained that FoF is a perfectly manufactured food item. It’s the kind of thing they’d eat in The Jetsons or Star Trek.

Nothing quite like a piping hot sandwich, fresh from your home kitchen matter configurator.

Great points all! I was wondering as I was drifting off to sleep last night how they get the fish patty so perfectly textured.

I've seen on YT videos on how processed turkey breasts are made: turkey protein is ripped apart and reconstituted into a loaf.

the FoF is probably similar, fish matter with glue added.

Damn now I want a FoF l, but I got a mcrib in the cart. Also .50 cents double cheese in app, makes me wish I had a burner phone to go hog on the deals

.90 cent delta between the single and double FoF.

The only time I've spent more than $10 at McDonald's was at closing time, 1am, cle elum, WA. A few summers ago.

Everything was closed and I was starving, got a double bacon QPC combo for like $15.

damn what a delta.. jelly. single is 6.19 here and double 8.59.

After all the FoF talk... Lunch!

I'm pretty sure that I've never had any type of fish sandwich in my life.
True story.

surprising from a state that touches the gulf. not even a po' boy?

I might have had a catfish po' boy once which was the only reason I said "pretty sure." I don't think I have though, but I do remember considering it once. I've had oyster po' boys and shrimp po' boys, but I don't think I've had any non-shellfish fish po'boys.

FoF goat and the double is quite the treat too. Usually less than 35% more in price than the single which is nice when the fish is really the big value component.

Order the double with extra sauce and that protects you a little bit more from melting your mouth since they are always made fresh and served at scalding temps. Sauce is amazing too and I would bathe in it if I could.

+1,000,000 to the Sauce being AMAZING!

Yeah the price of fries now is insane. On 75% of my Ricks orders I use the free medium fries deal and then use up some points for large fries on the rest. I don't even get fries or a drink at the other burger places anymore. With the combination of the BOGO $1 mcdouble, free fries and $1.29 drink offerings and Ricks being at the nearest intersection to my house I have to have the eaten more mcdoubles in the last 2 years than anyone on earth. Like Obi Wan said I am more mcdouble now than man.

Ditto, except I am mostly sausage muffin w/egg.

I spent over $20 today. McRib, Fish Filet, and QPC.

The fish filet here is very much unlike what you guys describe. It's ALWAYS lukewarm, and really not that great. I only get one once a month, when I forget how mediocre it is. The JITB/BK fish sandwich is cheaper and about twice the size of the Mickey fish.

Culvers has a good fish sandwich if they are in your area of operation.

Confident I've never had a fish sandwich. Don't care for sea or freshwater things. Meh.

Credit card statement ready today. Checking my receipts against the statement, noticed the top of my CFA receipt from the other day said, "Welcome to Chick-Fil-A" at the top.

There's really only one 'C', right?

Maybe you went to a knok off CFA???

This is honestly insane.

currently wendy's double stacks are $1.99 regular menu price for a limited time

That may very well be true, but never found anything that interests me.

When I went to the BVI, arrived late. Having a beer in the bar, got to talking to the bartender and chef, who was having a drink after his shift. Somehow we got on that subject.

He said I'd just never had is prepared properly. Come in tomorrow, he'd make me something. If i didn't like it, it's on him.

Had some kind of chunk of fish. Not surprisingly, didn't do anything for me. Of course, I didn't tell him; went back to the kitchen and thanked him for the effort. But meh.

Have occasionally had the chance to try something (a bite from a friends' plate, buffets in Vegas, that sorta thing), and never found anything that makes me think, "wow, I want more of that."

Outback is running a delicious special: The Bloom'n French Onion Sirloin. Includes the sirloin below plus two sides for $17! Cheaper than just the sirloin alone.

golddog, there are so many delicious options that can't be covered by a blanket statement

if you grew up in middle america it's more than reasonable to question ocean seafish
but if you happen travel to places right next to a coast
it's rarely wrong to try the popular local fish preparation technique

I thought my state was bad for mark up for this ($18.99), but Seattle has this for $21.99.

Boooo!
I assumed since the national ad said $16.99 that the price was everywhere. Also I'm in jacked up Southern California...

I could go for a steak.

I'm with goldgog on this one, and I grew up in view of the ocean. There are a few exceptions, but generally I don't care for anything that tastes "fishy." And I don't just mean unfresh, but just whatever the distinct fish flavor that tastes almost metallic to me. The only fish I actively seek out is Poke, and there are a few I can take or leave. But 98 times out of 100, if it is a water dweller, I won't like it.

That said, battered and fried whitefish, fast food style, is one of the ones I can take or leave. I've never had a McFish, but I'll eat fish and chips every once in a while

I think it's more common that a lot of people think. We never, and I mean literally never, had seafood when I was growing up. Not once, not even fish sticks.

It's neither a dislike in my case, nor the 'fishy' taste that Garick mentions. Just never found anything that does it for me, especially at the prices most seafood costs.

Dr. Red, of course, diagnoses the case well. Grew up in the upper midwest, where we never had seafood (though freshwater fish easily available).

But I do try some when in Rome (so to speak). Just not clicking.
