Spoiler
RIP Ted Turner, the founder of basic cable tv.
My uncle was in charge of a program to bring Black Footed Ferrets back from the brink of extinction. Ted Turner was a big conservationist and helped out with that program by allowing them to release them on his ranch, maybe monetarily, I'm not sure though. I guess my uncle had dinner/meetings several times with him and Jane Fonda and said they were pretty good people.
His obituary states that he donated a billion to United Nations charities.
He gave me Atlanta Braves games as a child. That was in the 90s when they were really good! RIP Ted Turner.
Too soon?
Like others, my only knowledge of the man was baseball (and being Mr. Fonda). I was not a Braves fan but I saw a **** ton of their games and probably knew them better than my own favorite team.
Oh, and weird start times to shows. Wasn’t tbs the one who did the later start, like 5 minutes?

I believe it was. I'm sure it was one of his stations. I had forgotten about that. I liked it. It gave you a chance to get a quick preview of the competition before deciding what to watch.
In years past I had a brother-in-law for a few years whose mother was Ted's cousin or something and knew him pretty well when they were young. I was disappointed that they rarely even mentioned him. He must have been a character and a fun guy to be around!
It was sadly interesting to see so many people in the South instantly change their opinion of the guy the day he married Jane Fonda.
RIP Ted
hopefully not portland native Dale Murphy
Golfer Jim Colbert
I followed him around a few rounds in Memphis a couple of different years IIRC in decades past. I'm not sure why. Maybe because of who his playing partners were the first time or because my friends liked him. At any rate he was fun to watch despite the lack of flamboyance of some of his competitors in those days.
RIP Jim
Craig Morton, QB of Broncos' first SB team.

Meanwhile, The Spider Sabich Annual Memorial Ski Shoot is seeking additional sponsors.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion who won more races than anyone across NASCAR’s three national series, has died. He was 41.
