Fun Player's Guide to the Galaxy

Fun Player's Guide to the Galaxy

Well let's see.... I'm here, but not quite sure what I'm doing here.
I mean I don't feel drunk.

I thought 7/9 would be a fitting date to mark the start point of whatever this will be. 79 being my favorite hand and all. Yes one thing you should know about fun players is that we all have our favorite hand. Usually it ties back to some big pot you won from playing badly and running godly. For me that hand is 79

I guess the purpose of this thread is to provide me an outlet to post random updates related to poker.

I haven't played a whole lot in recent years due to time constraints. Live poker is just so time consuming. But I have managed to fit in 1 or 2 tourneys a year and the occassional cash session once a month or so. Not much to write home about. I min cashed some $1100 event last summer and am up a fair amount in the limited cash I've played.

I also play some online, but options for Americans are pretty crappy. I mostly play 100NL 6 max on ignition and some of their tourneys once in awhile. I recently checked out Bet Online and have dabbled in 50NL 6max. The player pool is super small. There seems to be like maybe 10 regs and a handful of random weaker players. At peak hrs there are maybe 4 tables going. I play without a HUD so I'm only 1 or 2 tabling anyways.

I plan on playing the Monster Stack again next year, but will also schedule time so I can play the ME as well. It would be nice to subsidize that with my cash play. So I guess the main goal/challenge is to make $11,500 within about 150hrs of play.
And the side quest will be to make a good showing in the tourneys.

As for where my game is at: Though I've played relatively little, I've actually studied quite a bit. My thoughts on the game in both cash and tournaments has changed quite dramatically over the last few years. I feel my tournament fundamentals have become more solid, but I still find myself Selbsting off my stack near every money bubble. This is one thing I've never bothered to fix. I think it's time now to stop that and see what it does for my results.

For this month I can probably fit in one cash session and I will also be playing a $1650 at the end of the month.

For cash I typically play 2/5 and 5/10.

I guess I can close out with a HH.
One hand I played on my recent Vegas trip.

Well that was short lived. Back to losing every hand again haha.

Man do they hit these so often. Always vs the short stack fish too for some reason.

How in the hell do people run so good. Nice life just cold call T9s

I've put in the most consistent volume so far in the past 4 wks.
Results wise still struggling quite a bit, can't seem to maintain a consistent upwards trajectory. Just constantly up and down 5-6 buy ins seemingly forever.

Running KK into AA 200bb deep yesterday didn't really help. Though I kind of felt like I should just fold. No one is just 5bet jamming vs a cold 4bet w/ anything less than AA right? I almost folded, but just kind of told myself whatever you can't be folding KK and called.

I'm curious in these spots where people are check raising their gutters and barreling turns if they would fire the river if they brick. I've tried to find a spot where that happens, but so far they've hit the river every time so I don't know if they give up or not.

Like the hand where I had KK the guy had 54s.

Finally get one.

The market is starting to get interesting again.

SMCI has gone bonkers.

I know some people that work there and am familiar with the company.

I'll just say that there is no reason for the price to be what it is. But the problem as always is the timing and price of the puts.

Wow surprised the bubble popped so quickly. I was expecting it to run up for a bit more. Will probably ride down eventually back to under 100 at some point.

Poker wise boy am I struggling. Not pretty at all.

Wow I think this is 3rd or 4th life time. Second one using both hole cards.

Played Global today. Another pretty rough session today.

Basically running similar to how I've been running on Bovada.
Just on the wrong side of every flip and cooler, my good hands never holding and bricking out when I have the big draw.

Some highlights.

I open AA 2.5 in CO, mega fish jams 110bb from bb w/ K7 and you know the result.

I have Q3 in the BB same fish limps in CO and I check.

Flop is Q 3 8 two tone. I check he bets and I CR big because he's going to call. Turn T and we gii and he shows up w/ QT.

Then just standard flips which I happen to lose JJ

And the cherry on top I finish the session having AT on T T 3 and lose to 33.

Haven't had a winning session in like a week I think. Every session pretty much starts off the same w/ some ridiculous hand I lose vs a whale that tries to punt off their stack but I still lose or just running KK into AA or something and I'm just immediately down 3-4 buy ins within the first two orbits.

Pretty close to just tossing in the towel at this point.
