1/3 Grinding and Bankroll

Yes $50 straddle and I buy in between $1,000 and $3,000. I have very conservative bankroll management so I don’t buy in deeper.

I made a couple preflop mistakes tonight already …. Trying to play my best but still making errors. The day after a big loss can be more difficult. At least I am sharing hands and getting feedback. And making fewer mistakes than the vast majority .

About broke even today…need to really not leak preflop to play a consistently high level. Always working on improving.

I think I will start to play like a super nit for the rest of the year. If it was possible to play even tighter than I already was.

Stick with your game. Run bad sucks, but it is a reality. You will come out on top in the long run.

Woke up with the sun shining which is always a treat. Listening to Adele and coldplay. Not in the greatest of moods today to be honest, these swings are taxing mentally.

At least I ran well at 5/5 last night, wrap and fd beat a set after getting raised ott by this angle-shooter who would do things like pretend to bet and announce his hand falsely out of turn to influence the action from the in position player. Really nice to get him, he was a real weasel.

I told my friend who is also aspiring for greatness that I was to be consistently world class...I have my moments...but I need to not open KQQ22ds in the cutoff nor jam AKJJT...but for 20bb...yolo.

Saw rampage who is in town for a big cash game, that was neat. Coaching session went well, family time tonight was nice too. Little one got a hair cut!

Plo was pretty slow so I left for 2/5 where I lost KQs to JJ on KKJ and TT to same playerÂ’s 87 on T96dd. Won J9 to a set on QT7K at least but still stuck. Hooray..

At plo lost top pair bdnfd nut gutter to a draw with no pair, also lost double nfd to turned straight I was blocking and top set to runner runner nut flush.

What a few weeks it has been! No more sun run thatÂ’s for sure.

Won it back and then some at plo AAQ43ss held in big pot, raised in dry side pot on turn for value on 9322hh and held. Well done! Up $950 or so.

Woke up late today, needed the extra sleep, guess I had a longer day than usual yesterday. Lattericanos doing their thing now along with some suave lounge music.

Today I will do a moderate exercise routine, 2 reps of push ups, some bar curls and jumping jacks.

A friend railing the game while waiting for a seat at plo yesterday saw me play the AA hand on 9422hh in 3! pot and and a comment about me crushing to our neighbor and I said "I disappoint myself every day," which is true (a lot of days, anyway). I keep high standards for myself of playing as well as possible.

Leaned today that we want a fd blocker when contemplating calling at a low SPR with one pair on a flush draw flop to block their drawing outs. I actually thought we would want to unblock the draw entirely if we are weighting their range to draw versus strong made hand. But solver says otherwise.

Purchased a new espresso machine for my folks today, theirs is breaking down. Glad I can do that for them, they've done so much for me.

Exercise done...might do one more rep, I am feeling amped. Then off to play world class poker (or try to).

71,546 left on big challenge. We are in the red on the mini challenge now. I’m putting that on hold for now.

So far so good, some mixed madness was fun, won AAKQ3 in plo, won 76532 in 2-7 triple draw to a worse 7, made an 87 in the same game and held three ways too.

At plo a bluff river check raise got called, probably need to tone that down as people are very non believing you’d check the nuts on the river. Won top three to overpair not long after so all was well again in the world. Took a dinner break and back now up around $1600.

Grinding on…and getting into better shape every week! Going to ask the shift manager tonight if he has any tips he’s very buff.

Was doing really well until the very end of the session when an OOL donkey 3! small over my open when I had A9875ds and I called, a tilted short stack jammed, another shorty went all in, donkey flatted, and I got to jam $1,500 eff. basically pre for a huge side pot because I knew he was full of it and sure enough he called with KQT52ss (I was 55/45) and won on J879K runout (I was 0/100). Also lost an AA to him before calling it a night getting tired and needing to sleep. Lost only around $700 overall thanks to the mix where I won $850 or so.

At least we got to poke a little fun at a tilted Korean fish who always curses in Korean and gets mad when he loses - "shiba!" he always repeats. He also spit into an empty cup next to me...gross.

Today my chest is a little sore from the push ups so I will focus on arms and jumping jacks and stretches. Woke up late again, will reset my schedule in time.

Greeted with a text from the 10/10 game organizer telling me a seat was open so I made my way over not feeling amazing about playing big because of the choppy results lately. Going to nit it up. So far all in versus loose gambooler with KQJJ9 chopped versus t high garbage and QQJJ3 chopped against his garbage A high.

Take advantage of your read. If some people are not believing you will check the nuts on the river you are likely to make more money vs them by checking the nuts.

Lost at 10/10 with AKKT3ds limp raised 3! pot all in around $1,500 to nfd gutter on both runouts on QQ8cc and I was blocking clubs. Was fed up so I left for 1/2 where I ran better and made a few thousand easily for around a $2k profit on the day. $70,296 left. Going to try to get some sleep relatively early and wake up "with the sun shining" tomorrow (later today), to quote a high stakes reg. Glad to be back in the comfort of home resting now and happy to have booked a nice win. Ate good number of calories today, will keep it up to try to gain a little more weight.

I think the rest of the year I will put max volume at 1/2 plo and only play the big games when they look extra good. If I can make $20k a month I will be happy and wrap up the challenge and yearly goal on a high note.

In DC for a week, heard MD Live was good so I went there and tried Horseshoe too. At Horseshoe some dealer told me one of his dealer buddies at MGM said there's a group of 5 people who live together and collude at the PLO scene. Any truth to this may I ask?

Wanted to know before I head that way.

Wow, that's news to me. I don't know who they are but I would be curious to find out! MGM has the best action out of the three venues IMO, Horseshoe may be close but it runs fewer games and less PLO. If there really is such a group, they're aren't doing a great job against me. 😀 You should come play and say hi.

Woke up relatively early today, yippie, sun is shining! 😀 Might get to play mix a little today again, hopefully plo games are good.

Ran and played well at plo up $850 there and left when game got mediocre for a better looking 2/5 until a seat at the mixed game opens up.

Going to try not looking at results for a while other than doing the challenge. Being a little hyper focused on day to day week to week and month to month is a little unhealthy. Just going to focus on playing well and hopefully in a couple months I will be pleasantly surprised.

Lost an AA at plo, game broke and I lost my seat, so I played mix and won with a pat T8 at single draw to a draw, back at plo after mix broke now. Bluff caught correctly with AAK top set on KJ/J8 completing river versus serial bluffer, felt good about that one. Very proud of my perseverance lately. Playing well all things considered. Might still make it a $20k month but it’ll be close. Will see.

Talked to a friend today about living in Florida, sounds like flooding isn’t terrible as long as you aren’t ground level….

Should I be upset? My friend at the table says “good luck” to the action player I am against in a hand in a big pot. Later my friend says he didn’t want to see his chips (which he lost to the action player) go to a good player.

Anyway about to wrap up this session up $500 or so on the day. Lost top two double fd to bottom set. Otherwise not much of note.

In this case I would always be polite and wish both all-ins good luck... but obviously I'm hoping the worse player wins the chips (and would have no problem reasoning so if asked in confidence).
