The voting population is stunningly ignorant. Whether the solution to that is attempting to educate or to just try to appeal to the ignorant is debatable, but making value judgements based on the preferences of a group that has repeatedly demonstrated astounding ignorance is not a great idea.

Dude our economy has been filled with tons of make believe(or what has turned into them over time) jobs/other aspects of the overall economy for ages. I imagine most of those workers at least have been kept going to basically keep the peace and probably a few other downstream reasons.
