President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
A lot of people like interpreting things... it's what we do. I suggest just reading it though. Kinda works better if you want to understand something. 😀
The Bible is just one big analogy for the soul of man. It's a masterpiece in respect to the multivocal dialectic used to tackle difficult aspects of humanity. I wish more people would read it.
It could literally be a Geezerchess post lmao
Just different forms of male-pattern wisdom worship
You guys gotta stop with this

Good luck on your mission to get men to follow the leadership of women.
It is highly ambitious as it is contrary to the foundational structure of reality.
I do carry a fondness for some specific verses in the Bible… If the American christians weren’t such zealots, maybe it’d be more possible to enjoy on an aesthetic level
'Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.' (Matt 6. 28-30)
In other words it's not all about the work ethic, or getting and spending. The Lord was a bit un-American that way.

American Christianity is fundamentally weird, and most Brits, even devoutly Christian ones, cringe when we see American politicians parading their christianity. Especially when their actions seem to indicate they don't even understand the teachings of Jesus in any kind of way.
If one of ours went on about Jesus or whatever on the campaign trail, that's a way to burn off all your votes.
However, even as a thorough atheist, there are parts of the Bible I feel are quite valuable and insightful. The parables of Jesus, for example.
I also quite like some hymns and carols.

That's why God loves the US more and made it #1.
You know what’s more weird than American Christianity?
Spoiler
National suicide
I mean it is right that Plato got a lot of stuff wrong in applied ethics, and I’m much more nominalist myself when it comes to metaethics. Not really sure what the form of the Good is supposed to do if it just locks in the worst excesses of patriarchal, slave-owning societies.
The other thing I don’t like about Plato is that you’re never really sure whether he is putting words into Socrates’ mouth or if it’s his own views.
What I do like about Plato is he is an engaging writer and I like the format of philosophy through the style of a play, much less dry and character driven.
Pretty sure if Jesus was walking around these days, ICE would deport him and maga would celebrate another brown person being booted from the country.
I didnt shoot the guy in the head. I just pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger. not guilty.
Well ACKSHUALLY the babies would suffocate from smoke long before they would be burned alive.

not really. more like saying “that cop executed that innocent bystander!” when he was shooting at a mass shooter and the bullet traveled through him and hit someone.
but let’s just pretend the word choice is neutral and not biased at all. oh yeah and Israel is “raping” as if the country itself has rape as an official policy lmao
when people say “x burned someone alive” they don’t imagine someone being killed in a bombing campaign with conventional weapons of war.
thats bc Americans are the stupidest and most propagandized people in history
the language he is using implies that Israel is setting children on fire, which they aren’t.
no they literally and objectively are.

It does mean that. Saying "conventional weapons" or bombing campaign" would be the language to make it seem like they doing something else other than that. The person burning up won't feel more assured in their death because it's a strategic fire.
