Yup. Almost a quarter of the population indeed did that, for a variety of reasons. I think there's a portion that are hurting financially and thought, rightly or wrongly, Trump was their only hope. The remainder, whether it's 10,15,20%, that should have known better but voted for Trump anyway, I'll just be nice and say they made a stupid and/or misguided decision.

But if you're right, you're hoping that "super stupid and patriotic" Americans will react by feeling some kind of sympathy rather than just being pissed off at people disrespecting their anthem, flag, etc.? And I'd say it's not even slightly insane that tarriffs that they've known about for months and don't have a huge impact on their day-to-day lives come in at a lower priority than all the batshit crazy stuff that's been going on for the last week.
