Uh most of my Vancouver friends bought their first house in exactly the 1-1.3 range. Usually a townhouse when they had their first kid. Shift expensive these days in van or Toronto. That said poilievre is shut out of these ridings so I dunno how much his “anything you can do I can do better” routine really does here.

Ok good ish news. For a long time over suggested that a bunch of Trudeau legacy of good programs might well survive his era. Especially since poilievre spent years not revealing what he would do on most issues. I’d hoped that would include the industrial carbon tax, but the news of the day is that on dental care, pharmacare and child care, poilievre is pledging (in a bit of a weasily way) that people who have them won’t lose them. That of course could mean the programs and strangled and far less future people get access, that’s a real fear, but it offers some hope that under a poilievre government the great work of Trudeau will be at least partially maintained. All three of those are solid and if anything should be expanded.

it goes without saying that with bigger than carney tax cuts and pledging to maintain these social programs, it gets harder and harder to imagine he seriously tackles the deficit. We’ll have to see with rose tinted glasses the numbers when the “costed” plans come out.

And Carney will seriously reduce the deficit without major Carney accounting . The interest payments alone make it almost impossible

So i guess they are both destined to fail.

It's interesting how similar their overall platforms really are. The differentiators really seem to be the anti-trump nationalism and Carney's technocrat credentials versus the anti-Trudeauism.

Both very centrist platforms. TBF to PP, i don't think he is particularly aligned with Trump and doesn't totally deserve to be stuck with that label. He has leaned into some cheap populist tactics and negative messaging but thats just usual politics. I don't think he has the ability to implement a lot of his platform, especially considering the buy in it would take from non-Alberta provinces. It will just be tax cuts, federal deregulation, increasing deficit, see what happens. Standard modern conservatism and not Trumpian.

I'm sticking with Carney's experience to be a true economy first moderate that can wrangle the cats.

I also think cons should like recent developments that have pushed NDP voters to the libs. You have an economy first fiscal guy with way more of a mandate and power to actually operate that way without having to compromise to the more left parties

It's actually hard to dream up a sequence of events. As the USA becomes a bigger clown show and Trump is pushed to more drastic nonsense, I can't find the 5 week sequence that sinks the Liberals now. They're almost at a point where their best bet is doing almost nothing but letting things play out. Campaign, debate, vote, done.

This is incoherent. EV cars made in Canada have a much higher chance of mitigating negative externalities on things like slave labor for various minerals than the Chinese who couldn’t care less. It sounds like far form your disgusting claims, you are the “pro slave labour” person advocating for cheap Chinese EVs to be imported knowing that China keeps them artificially cheap in part by giving zero shits about “slave labour” for cobalt etc. on the other hand, I think EVs battery plants should be made right here in Canada with strict government regulation to ensure ethical sourcing as are part of canadas custom tariff act, USMCA etc.

But I doubt you care about the minutia of Canadian regulations and what should be tweaked or improved, I think “uke supports slave labour” is just the kind of horrible, ill-informed, reactionary, pathetic way you engage in politics.

No I just don't buy the whole zero emissions argument of EV's . Though if the goal is to get more folks to drive EV's than lets bring in the best EV . If your argument is China subsidizes the production of EV"s and that is bad than what is the feds subsidizing battery plants in Canada one of which is already close to being shelved as the parent company is broke
