Everyone (including trump) but you was fully aware that SECURE THE BORDER was not the real motivation behind Trump's action, that he wanted a tariff trade war and while some superficial placating the pretext might have gained us that one month delay, clearly the war is here and ramping up and Canada absolutely needs to band together and fight against his actions has conservative and liberal and ndp politicians alike are all aligned on. So the SECURE THE BORDER chanters are looking pretty dumb.

I am absolutely certain this election is done. I have never seen the Arabic vote this firm. I think what Trump did down South shocked that community. It's a massive unanimous left vote I'm seeing all over.

Alberta is rich in oil & gas but has seriously mismanaged their opportunities and there is a lot of doubt about the future potential of that industry beyond the next ~20 years. Independence to prioritize the short-term exploitation of O&G would make a few people quite rich and then leave the province in rough shape. Joining the states would provide some opportunity most development and quality of life indicators are quite a bit lower in the states and that would likely be Alberta's trajectory at that point.
