The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
The NDP cares about every day Canadians and their influence helped get important policies like dental care across the line. The bloc cares only about Quebec. I’d take the NDP 9 times in a row and on the tenth time I’d take the NDP again.
They also propped up a minority government for a lot longer than most Canadians wanted.
If you are a conservative (or PPC wacko nutjob crazy), then you might be mad at the NDP for propping up the liberals. But given that half of the NDP voters appear in the polls at least to have fled to the liberals, I don't think that is the primary thing animated NDP voters. Mostly, they are just being ABC voters.
I'll make this easier for you to understand. If a party promises more money to the natives on top of what is already being given, you are perfectly okay with natives voting for the party that promises this.If a party promises more money to investors on top of what is already being given and investors vote for this, you consider this short term gain at the cost of long term. There
I don't understand the fixation on inserting Indigenous peoples who you seem to have no understanding of but I'll run with it. The difference between you and them is that they have learned the costs of selling out their interests for short term cash gains the hard way. You appear to still be incredibly naive and willing to sell your vote cheaply instead of demanding long-term investment into your community.
I agree that incentivizing Canadians to invest in Canada is a good idea and I like the TFSA part. Hard disagree about the outcome differences between Canada and USA. We need to build infrastructure that unlocks industry potential the way the US did through the middle of the century. Not cut taxes to the wealthiest and build a society with declining socioeconomic outcomes the way they are going now.
Good to encourage investment. Laughably bad policy to have low to no tax rates on capital while taxing income significantly. Every metric across the board suggests that unfettered capital value and decoupling of labor value from productivity is causing huge social issues and the declining middle class. We need more good jobs and less speculation/diverging wealth accumulation. Build more houses, not more air in the bubble.
Well too bad then that no party is proposing a "long term policy", and instead you get a gimmick where in a 2 year window if a business happens to be rolling over capital in that time period then they get a benefit and most of the rest of us doesn't. I think you are also just largely misdiagnosing the problem. Challenges with lagging investment rates in Canada from what I under
Correct, its mostly infrastructural and some regulatory and work force issues. Tons of capital...just sad its flocked to housing.
I agree that incentivizing Canadians to invest in Canada is a good idea and I like the TFSA part.
Nah man, the TFSA is pointless gimmick. First, only about 4% or so of Canadians have a maxed out TFSA. It helps the rich only - and really not that much, it's a paltry 10m costing in year 1.
Second, it doesn't change asset allocation. Most Canadians buy ETFs or the like shitty balanced mutual fund their bank tells them to buy. These are globally diversified, so a portion Canadian, a portion american, a portion rest of world. So you can just put 7k into non-canadian stocks, and then 5k into canadian and probably not be far off from the asset allocation you would have done anyways. If you are off, adjust the ratio in your RRSP (which the few percent of people with maxed TFSAs are already doing).
Third, it doesn't help stock prices. We have an efficient market. If a small percent of Canadians really do invest more in big canadian business, it's not like the stock price of those companies soars. Instead other investors sell to keep the price parity with market expectations. Even if THAT was wrong, again we have plenty of capital and so higher stock market returns for big canadian business doesn't really solve some access to capital problem.
Finally, it's distortive. It isn't all Canadian business, it's some currently unspecified subset of Canadian stocks and mutual funds that Poilievre will define in the future as being sufficiently Canadian enough (since most companies are highly integrated) to qualify. Might be a lot of stocks, might be only a few, we don't know. But either way it is the government picking winners and losers and literally putting the winners on a "only buy these" list. When has that ever worked out?
It's a gimmick. Through and through. I love TFSA program, I remax my TFSA on Jan 1st of every year and would personally benefit from this. But it just doesn't help Canada. It's just something so Poilievre can pretend he is doing something to support Canada in the face of tariffs.
Frankly, it's the kind of gimmick someone with no experience of running an economy would come up with.
I find it funny that not one of the liberal media asked Carney about comments in his book that 75% of the earths fossil fuels need to remain the ground . There some other tidbits in his book and zero emissions
Sadly the CBC needs its 2 billion $$& and will prop up the liberals
Having Poilievre and his clones import Trump's anti-media conspiracies has been one of the saddest parts of the campaign. Maybe the reason the "liberal media" hasn't asked him questions is because unlike all the other party leaders and violating historical precedent, he has kicked the "liberal media" off his plane and bus, and limits questions to 4 handpicked questions a day, usually sequestering the "liberal media" off in some far distant corner where they aren't even allowed to interact with the crowd while partisans like the pleb reporter get full reign.
The problem is works.
Because of people like you.
You come here and repeat the rhetoric and lies.
Stop.
Lying.

Your saying he did not say that in his book ?
Your saying the CBC isn’t funded by the feds and liberals promise more
Have you seen CBC ratings and views online
Yeah Carney just answers questions non stop .
I'm saying the "liberal media" messaging imported from the US by poilievre and is rabid clones on forums like this is disappointing and harmful to society.
It's not that the question is hard. To remain under 2% temperature increase, several papers have releasaed estimates saying we need to leave something like 60% to 80% in the ground. I haven't read Carney's book yet (have you?) so I presume he is citing this basic science.
It's that the question is framed in a pure conspiracy about liberal media.

Several papers!!!!! Nobody ever told me there were several papers!!! If it had been 2 papers I would have said noway, but SEVERAL!!!!! Damn that's just basic science.
Yes shifty, people who write books tend to cite the scientific literature. Not sure why this triggers your endless snark.
Hey did you see that poilievre is trying to not just keep alcohol legal but make it even cheaper with tax cuts??? You must be outraged. You should vote for the PPC!
Yikes. Another top conservative premier who seemingly wants nothing to do with poilievre and Jenni, and is maybe positioning himself for a future federal run if poilievre loses. This is the exact opposite of what you want to be happening less than a week out.

then vote for them. ****ing hell im even voting ndp the conservative in my riding is a tool. everything you type screams ndp to me but your stuck in some sports team supporting loop. sign looks like my entire adult life is going to be under one party
Pierre vows never to touch your home equity
Let’s see if Carney pledges the same as he is do good at copying the conservatives policies
im convinced this is the worst decade in decline in canadian history and the same party is gonna win again. that is kind of impressive
my metric for decline is vs the row. obviously quality of life is still high its 2025. quality of life has gone up every year of canadas existance so that barely matters except maybe the last decade . but economically we are falling behind which makes no sense with our resources.
The average Canadian lives like a roman emperor. we don't need more social programs we need to compete

LMAO. Yesterday you come in spreading crazy conspiracies that Carney is coming for home equity. Of course there is nothing - nothing - in his platform or anything he has said that suggests this one iota. It is just a pure conspiracy theory made up by Poilievre to try and scare people into voting for him. Him "pledging" to do something that Carney is obviously not going to do and has given zero indication he ever would do is just performative BS.
Why do you lap this BS up?
Stop.
Lying.
At Poilievre's supposed last news conference of the campaign (still taking 4 preapproved questions from 4 small media, everyone else sequestered) he keeps talking about how his first priority is the 15% tax cut. Has he EVER mentioned that this isn't something you'll get for 4 years? That it starts out at 1/5th the size of what Carney will give in year 1 - according to his own costing? It seems like he has gotten a complete free pass on trying to claim a much bigger tax increase that is incrementally introduced slowly enough that he can pretend (adding in lots of magic revenue outta nowhere) that his deficit will be bad but not as bad as carney.

You realize Uke is smarter and better than us . He will ignore climate facts , science , for his cause
The poorest state does better than the average CDN
Will see how many promises carney keeps and the excuses Uke will make for him not following though on them
Is this "uke ignores climate facts" bit some like reverse psychology whataboutism game?
Earlier in the campaign, when they first announced the income tax cut, Poilievre’s team said it would be fully implemented by 2027-28 and would cost $7 billion in each of the first two years and $14 billion after that. The party’s platform now says it will cost just over $1 billion in the first year, rising to just shy of $14 billion by the fourth year.
Mainstream media finally catching on to the fact that Poilievre just lied through his teeth on day 1 of the campaign and kept the lie going until after 7 million people had already voted.
Lozen why are you not all over this 6 billion dollar lie?

Why we have you to do it . Why worry your guy is going to win with a majority and deliver on all his promises like Justin did and if he doesn’t I’m sure it’s because it was hard or it’s Harper’s fault
I mean Poilievre couldn't even make it a month into a campaign without failing to deliver his promises, so I dunno why you are trying to do a whataboutism.
Like you can take a few posts off to admit how much of a dismal, lying, failure "your guy" has been this campaign. Let's just all hope the polls are right.
they are not but they won't be off enough for the liberals to lose
