The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Speaking of drill baby drill...... interesting article on how Canada can tolerate much lower prices than the US.
Trump is not likely to be able to getting people drilling anytime soon.
That’s what the lozen and shifty of this world never understand …
Just produce more without ever considering if it’s profitable or not and ready to invest tens of billions of dollars for it ..

Please do not lie I want the market to determine if we develop our resources and create a fair regulatory process if they do decide to expand exploration. When prices are low investment will fall
Also I want the companies to invest not the government in pipelines, battery plants, …..

Thats basically the liberals in 99% of cases. There’s basically a single example where the market was unwilling to build a national infrastructure project of transmountain pipeline and so Trudeau bought that for Alberta to give Alberta a path to market that has allowed record high oil production. Great job Trudeau!! Albertans should be THRILLED to stay in a country that so objectively supports their oil development so highly.
The other example of loans to car battery plants, cars are one of those industries where rightly or wrongly governments of all stripes compete for factories with these kinds of incentives, and if Canada chooses to opt out they are largely going to lose out on the future of car production. But in almost every other case, that market approach is exactly what the liberals do. You should love them!

Drill baby drill doesn't mean oil prices are just going to go up. Its cutting regulations and opening drilling up on federal land. Trump has always been open about keeping the price of oil low, even before he was in politics.
Obviously most of the Canadian facilities can withstand lower prices, it's a different extraction method and requires infrastructure that's larger than most cities, they have to train and employ thousands of people just to operate and it takes years before they operate efficiently. They can't just shut down, lay people off then start back up at a certain price.

I’m certainly not , I argued many times with you how irresponsible it would be to invest has much money you always advocate….
Never considering prices or how Saudi and other big producers can bankrupt many private entities by just elevating their productions.
All you claimed for years, bulb build build and drill drill drill…

To what end .
What does that will change in oil price falling ?
You produce more prices goes down , corporations make less money ..
And it’s prosperous to believe with Canada raising production a lot , other entities won’t react trying to preserve their market shares …..

Who cares? Let the market and companies decide.
I am getting a bit worried about how hard Canada is going to get hit with Trump's grand plan. We all know that part of what he wants is to destroy all aspects of auto building in Canada. He said so right in front of Carney.
We have a host of other areas that could hurt us more that they hurt the US.
When the US stocks took a nose dive I was hoping the hurt would be worse, and would continue, but since then Trump has "claimed" a victory with the Britain deal and now it appears that there is a China deal (or framework) in the works.
I really think this needs to be a trainwreck for Trump in order for Canada to not get smacked as hard, but that trainwreck seems less imminent right now.
As such, I don't see Trump doing anything but playing hardball with Canada. Can't see him giving an inch.
Thoughts??

You just proved Canada needs to have a more diversified clientele’s to be less at the mercy of the Americans .
Im convince the damages will be far more lasting for the Americans then they think it will.
Americans are just proving they aren’t reliable and risk naturally increases cost .
For greed purposed based on false premise ( not surprising from trump) , the Americans ( bottom 60%) will get screwed while the top earners will still be fine (Wall Street) .
I got no problems with the concept of bringing some manufacturing power on Americans soil , it’s the concept of believing for example that iPhones or cars can be build in the US with no increase in production cost which would translate in no increases prices …..
Americans needs inflation but the problem they believe in fairy tales thinking they won’t have to pay for it ….

Canada could agree to open its market to BYD, with local manufacturing being part of the agreement.
Warned about what, exactly? It’s never clear which new Trump talking point you are referring to - the rest of us definitely don’t read your x feed
That employment report is pretty ugly... lucky thing the prime ministers have tried to play hardball in the Bigly... wise decision.

I think the auto sector may be in for some hurt or a large decline as these are high paying manufacturing jobs. Though not like the old says were every aspect of car assembly utilized workers much is done by automation now .
AS for the UK deal its a deal but not a large one but he gets to brag he has racked up a deal. China now that is a different story they have a 90 day reprieve on tariffs for more negotiating . If they get a deal with China Canada is screwed
Montreal is right though as is Carney the relationship will never be the same and anyone that thinks lets just wait 4 years for the Dems to be back in power may be dreaming as they are a total mess
I am very curious were Carney takes this battle and I am sure once his cabinet is announced the negotiations will begin.
Personally Id like to see Carney go on National TV and address the nation and announce we are looking for new partners for our minerals, oil, LNG, ,potash, power and cancel the F35 deal and other procurements of military equipment and sign contracts with South Korea.
I also think adding an export tariff to power, oil and potash may be warranted
lol. Yes, everyone is aware of time limits to USMCA, not sure what Trump “warned” about - he called it the greatest trade deal ever or some other similar euphemism. And yes he also did tariffs in his first term - just on steel and aluminum which was very painful to the US and ultimately lasted less than a year. Neither of those were a good predictor that his moronic plan to launch escalating worldwide tariffs and specifically try to **** over Canada.

Things change, it was the first of it's kind trade deal with the sunset provision. Kind of like the carbon tax was the greatest way to save the planet.

They lasted a year because USMCA was signed. Here we are 6 years later about to get bent over because other countries are making trade deals before us and we changed nothing.
I’m not sure what on earth point you are hoping for. Trump 1 was bad. Trump 2 is horrible - for us, for Americans, for the planet. What your sycophantic “we were warned” message even means. Like Canada agreed and is happy to work on renegotiating USMCA 2.0 on the agreed timeline, but your “winning energy” guy stabbed us in the back before the negotiations started. You can cheer that on, you can buy into his pretexts like this is somehow magically about fentanyl, but I’m not sure what meaningful criticism of Canada you think you’ve uncovered is. That we should have all known to start disintegrating economically from the most obvious of natural trading partners because a madman might come in a violate every trade norm imaginable? Is that your point?

Strange isn’t that the best trade deal EVER created (trump words and signer of it) only lasted 5-6 years while much “worst” trade agreement made by “worst” previously president holded for decades ….
I’ve never seen a GOAT thing becoming trash in such a short period of time .
Oh wait , maybe a crazy thought, it was just another thing that trump praised to be awesome while in actually it wasnt great at all.
The typical swindler that transform anything he touches into gold until it leaves his hands ….
I must say it makes a lot of sense :
trump says greatest deals ever meant -> watch out Canada , that trade agreement will be Annihilated very soon in shifty world .

That's your opinion and it's does nothing to help the situation or solve the problem. ArticKnight's post was about other countries making trade deals before us and we are losing leverage with everyone made. The liberals were either incompetent and thought Trump wouldn't win or figured they could use it politically. They would have known about the sunset provision and that if trump won something similar to this was going to happen. Maybe we could have had a trade offer ready since they are our best trading partner, but instead we went elbows up, smashed liquor bottles and cancelled already paid for vacations.

This is just unhinged rambling. Are you still elbows up? What kind of negations and concessions are you hoping to see from Carney?

What goes into this magical trade offer you think could have magically stopped trump from stabbing us in the back? Like we were already planning to renegotiate USMCA on the previously agreed timeline.
I get it, you are FURIOUS that Canadians made their own choices to not, say, vacation in a country that is actively attacking us (presumably the VAST majority of the reduced traffic to US is not from "already paid for vacations" as you fantasize). Clearly they should have seen the winning energy and aurora of trump. But you can't just quote trump lines at us and not expect to be relentlessly made fun of.
