The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet

Nah… that’s not it. She’s repulsive enough and already too cozy with Republicans to ever be electable to a role like that. And the closer you get to the circus, the more people will assume you’re a clown.

Lol ok. So Poilievre is unelectable, the best conservative premier is unelectable. But O'Toole was too liberal win as a conservative.

But a drama teacher and a banker who barely lived in Canada are electable.

We are paying for a drama teacher being elected right now. Biggest mistake Canadians made.

But yes, Smith aint it. She’s hot garbage. Only someone as intellectually challenged as you would suggest Smith.

Maybe Canadian conservatives are just... unlikeable/unelectable.

O'Toole and Scheer were mushes. PP is bad, and Smith is worse than PP. If PP can' win, she's drawing dead before the writ drops.

Find someone between Scheer and PP and roll the dice .

Ya, it'd be silly to elect the premiere of the province that is keeping Canada afloat to Prime Minister.

As an Albertan, no thanks.

It's always great when conservatives learn the wrong lessons. Yes, O'Toole lost in 2019 against Trudeau when lozen voted for Trudeau and Trudeau was still broadly popular with broadly popular policies. Conservatives took the lesson that a "moderate" member of the conservatives couldn't win. So then we get the odius Scheer and feckless Poilievre, both more authentically right wing maple magas then O'Toole but they also both lost. In the end the person the next person to gain a majority government was also a moderate - Carney. So if you're big take away is that you shouldn't nominate moderates and instead should just keep on going for the firebrand right wing types well.....ya go for it.

It might have been more about the platforms (or lack thereof) in the first two cases, and Trump in the third case.

The first go the platform was basically "Trudeau sucks." When pressed for more details on what the CPC plan would be, it still seemed like everything revolved around......."Trudeau sucks."

The second go was the same strategy, but by this time it was very clear that Trudeau did suck. But, it seemed like central and eastern Canadians wanted more than that from the CPC. I also think the Liberals might have been effective in noting that "Trudeau sucking" was the extent of the CPC's message. They had no plan. Again. This was the best shot for the CPC. I mean conservatives can get mad that central and eastern Canada put Trudeau in again, but how the CPC lost to Trudeau falls entirely on the CPC.

The third go I think "Trudeau sucks" would have worked, but Trudeau was gone. Trump hated Trudeau but he liked Carney (and Canadians were very fearful of Trump). PP projected weakness and was not a "MAGA" guy. Trump turned the tables.

That said I do agree that a moderate is the only way to go for the CPC next time. As you note, Carney is a moderate, and if the CPC candidate is too far right Carney will take some votes from middle of the road conservatives, plus another chunk of former NDP voters the CPC would never get. A moderate CPC candidate wont lose many far right votes. Unlike the far left, the far right only has one option - CPC or don't vote.

I never voted for Trudeau in 2019 I realized than he was a fraud

Dutch YouTube creators behind Alberta separatist videos getting millions of views

Love it. People from other countries are now making money exploiting the Shifty's of the world.

That's the thing, the goal posts for who the best conservative leader would be are always moving. For whatever reason, psyops, propaganda, media bias, boomers addicted to big government, etc. the narrative is always they just aren't the right kind of conservative, they aren't electable, blah blah.

Meanwhile liberals like Uke defend Trudeau no matter what for a decade, then defend Carny no matter what even if it's about reversing policies he defended under Trudeau. Carney could cancel the industrial carbon tax tomorrow and Uke would ramble on defending why it's ok.

o toole was actually a pretty good candidate just at the wrong time. apparently hes only 53 run it back

You're doing this more and more. Any topic of conversation no matter what and you are just slipping in little trans bashing or now two-spirit bashing? It's just sad.

Yet somehow the answer from you always seem to go for the furthers right bernier bro types, together with a lovely story about how if only if a real conservative was nominated then they would be electable.

Why do you make stuff up? I opposed cancelling the domestic carbon tax. I said ITT that I understand why he did it, and it likely was true that that it had become a political necessity to be elected, but the fact is just as true today that the consumer carbon tax was good, effective policy and it is unfortunate that conservative lies timed with an unrelated global inflation crisis doomed it. So no, your elite read that I'd be ok with cancelling the industrial carbon tax is false.

Definitely the best of the last 4 CPC candidates. Noticed he is on the new Canada-US advisory board role, solid pick by Carney.

I'll never forget when O'Toole pleaded with the conservative convention to adopt a tepid motion just acknowledging that climate change was real. They refused. And then the liberals very, very successfully used that fact to paint the CPC as anti-climate change. Back when people cared about such things.

Yes, Pierre was the first Conservative I've voted for. Yes, the idea that Conservatives just need the perfect leader that is just liberal enough to win is a psyop.

Point proven! No matter what Carney does, you'll vote for him next election.

Perfect? No. Maybe they should set the bar at “don’t be a condescending twatwaffle” and see who can clear that first.

Having had PP as my MP for the decade I lived in west Ottawa, and having met him twice, he does not clear this bar. Now he needs to play the role of set up man for someone else. They better choose well.

If that was the only policy that Carney dropped from Trudeau . Lets be hones if the gun buyback was polling badly Carney would cut it

You are a liberal loyalist Imagine if Pierre came out with new policies of bringing back Trudeau's carbon tax and EV mandate and no new pipelines and men in women's sports and Shifty and I still supported him and the party we would be hypocrites .
Your just like Stephen Guilbeault who pledged if the carbon tax is gone so am I . Oh wait that means he needs to get a real job

Not sure one should take electability advice from a PPC bernier bro supporter. The majority of Canada just doesn't want to be maple maga. Sorry, not a psyop, just the facts.

What, exactly, have you proven? It sounds like you are trying to be AHA! POINT PROVEN! that you've identified um....that....people tend to have fairly stable political opinions? Me included? Like yes I think Carney was a better choice than Poilievre, what on earth gotcha are you trying for?

Cool, it's obvious majority of Canada make terrible decisions, life has gotten worse for majority of Canadians under Liberal leadership, just the facts.

That you spent 10 years defending all things Trudeau and no matter what Carney does or Conservatives do you will vote Liberal regardless of who the leaders of the parties are.

Weird, Pierre got the most votes by a Conservative leader by quite a large margin. But I guess he just doesn't clear the bar and is a unelectable, Conservatives should really find a more liberal leader 😵

And yet somehow, he LOST his own riding that he'd held for 20+ years, AND LOST the election.

Please try again to tell me how ELECTABLE he is. Because all I see is a guy stacking L's like lawn chairs.

I suggest you make the case to the people. Oh, but actually, Carney crushed Poilievre, and was so persuasive he has gotten FIVE floor crossers, strong polls continuing well in majority territory, and increased support in byelections. While your guy has decided to not even run again in the backup seat he had to be parachuted into.

by Shifty86

no matter what Carney does or Conservatives do you will vote Liberal regardless of who the leaders of the parties are.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? As a fringe far right PPC and CPC voter who didn't even vote for Carney, it sounds like you won't vote liberal regardless of who the leaders of the parties are. And that's ok! I'm not pretending I'm not politically on the left - I've voted green and ndp and liberal, I'm an ABC voter and while the policy and values espoused by the partiers are anything like what they've been in recent decades that is unlikely to change. As it is unlikely to change for you.
