Thank you and ? as I very much think we should be focused on why it is failing. As a starting point for what we should be changing and how. Not many are interested and Rococo in particular was very critical.

I'd go as far as to say that part of the reason it is failing is that no-one really cares to consider why it is failing. Let along work out what to do about it.

Apparently he drove 3K miles from Washington State to DC, with a 357 to shoot a couple guardsmen?
Seems weird. I wonder if he had a beef with that particular unit. Otherwise it seems like a huge sacrifice for such low profile targets.

The guy is obviously nuts, so trying to reason-out what and why he did it is a fool’s errand.

That wasn’t clear from the post that I replied to. And assigning blame isn’t what I’m interested in. Jalfrezi is just a microcosm of the problem (on the left, on the right there is a different problem, and on the liberal side still one different), which I think is the belief that there is some other system out there that will be better than the one that Trump is throwing away, and the secret hope that he does end up destroying things so that some leftist utopia can rise out of the ashes.

That sums it up nicely

Thank God chez is here to give another one of his useless political riddles.

I'd agree that the idea of collapse being the path to something better is a very bad idea. Where we may disagree is that your post suggests trump is the cause of the problems.

In my view he is primarily a very nasty (and particularly weird) symptom of the problems. There's a feedback loop so nasty symptom make the problems worse which leads to more bad symptoms etc etc.

Also my view if we want something like the current system to prevail then we need to nurture it. Not take it for granted and point the finger at others less bothered as it withers and dies.

He's the most cryptic mfr that ever mfr'd.

I do apologize for not responding to that brilliant gif in some way you would deem fit.

At least you've good taste in music. 😀

Ah yes, if only I had voted Green Party, none of this would have happened.

You’re pathetically dumb.

You're so thick you don't even realise that voting isn't mandatory, and so compliant that you believe it's your duty to vote for the donkey party which you slavishly do every election. You're an unthinking moron that's only capable of regurgitating things it's been told.

This is what is meant by "overeducated" and the fact that it has to be spelled out to you is proof of its accuracy.

Just don’t vote and all of this wouldn’t have happened. Even more blatant ******ation from you.

If people just like you had refused to vote for shite candidates decades ago, yes things would have turned out for the better.

You're incapable of understanding something as simple as how voting for bad candidates only gives you more bad candidates.

Just don’t vote

is the mistake. Seems more designed to falsely make others sound silly than to address the serious point being made.

We have to value our vote so that it's only available for good candidates, That is necessary for good candidates. The system adapts to the voters. If we don't value our vote then they sure as hell wont.

There's a lot more to nurturing a democracy that "just voting" but in the end it's thew vote that makes it real.

They're too brainwashed from childhood with semi-fascistic ideas of USA#1 ruling the world to see how that was so easily gamed by a less than stellar intellect like Trump, and too proud to ever admit they might be part of the problem.

I dont agree with that

Prove it !
Where or when having a democracy with near 0% of votes , it got better ?

That's very silly. Logic exists as well as data, you know.

by chezlaw

I dont agree with that

Of course. Never speak ill of your enemy. In fact don't ever make enemies. Just sit in a circle and make daisy chains while singing Kumbaya. That'll defeat the fascists.

i just don't agree with you. I think your analysis is wrong

To have an hypothesis and claim it to be true while it never actually happened , it’s more about faith then facts.

is the world going to get better because I decide tomorrow to believe in god ?
Probably not .

Empty space always get fill .
It’s far from being certain leaving a field empty will entice good people to takes its space .
But I’m pretty confident that letting worst people win will make the world a worst place .

I'm case anyone hasn't yet heard, as of this morning, one of the guards died (the woman) while the other is still in in the hospital, in critical condition.

There's no certaintly but if we keep vote for people who aren't going to fix anything then that is in effect a vote for the bad guys 'fixing' it. And there's clues a plenty that the bad consequences are manifesting. Or covid - maybe a new disease wont kill a lot of people until it has. And inequality, Ukraine, Gaza, Housing health, etc etc - there's no proof it will go badly if we do **** all. Until it has!

The overreliance on data is ridiculous. It's like catastrophic climate change deniers arguing against doing anything serious about it. Data will tell you after it goes horribly wrong but it would be useful to have some faith in thinking about uncertain consequences before that happens.

There's nothing to worry about
Ok maybe there is something to worry about but there's nothing we can do
Ok maybe there was something we could have done but it's too late now

Vote your conscience in primaries, that’s where the fight is supposed to be. By the time it gets to a general election it’s too late. Maybe the system is different in England, but that’s where most people that I respect politically and intellectually seem to fall here.

I’m not dealing with jal the chihuahua barking about not voting lol
