I didn't get as far as looking at his twitter profile. Those were retweeted by other people. But well done, Officer Trolly.

Mods can go ahead and delete if they want.

A quick peek at the twitter profile and uh... yeah this guy is very obviously a raving antisemite. Also seems to have some big thoughts about black people and crime.

You really don’t even have to check the profile to know. The tweet itself was blatantly false. Not sure why it even got posted in the first place.

Ok yeah the second tweet is legitimately funny.

Tweet #1 is straightforwardly untrue, #2 is a fairly obvious dogwhistle that should have raised some red flags. But I can understand why you might find it entertaining.

by Crossnerd

Ok, you actually need to stop. Thats 2 questionable tweets in a row that could definitely be read as antisemitic.

All sorts of things "can be read" as antisemitic, including many true things. The Israel lobby has great influence in the U.S. and it shouldn't be verboten to say so, as the quip about two senators was getting at.

second tweet is very funny given the outsize influence AIPAC ostensibly has.

ofc, any rigorous analysis would show that no, the dogwhistle about "Israel controls the Senators" is not accurate and as Nasrallah said, the tail doesnt wag the dog and the US is in full control of the genocide and even AIPAC. but its still funny.

Correct

I have predicted this

There's the 3 main pro Palestinian posters in the thread all defending antisemitic tweets and rationalizing that we are interpreting them wrong ....

Mets, stop. I’m handling it.

I hope I am not the only one who thinks this is extremely out of line by WSOP?

They’re happy to co-host a fundraiser tournament benefiting families of fallen IDF soldiers but one can not wear a kaffiyeh?

“All good in the hood”

Or shall I say

Dear Mr. Orwell, we have arrived.

There is a rule against political statements

I dont think it is out of line if they are policing antisemitism. wearing a keffiyeh is by definition antisemitic.

Rules against common items of clothing worn for 200 years that could possibly be a political statement, but no rules against collecting money for the families of people carrying out a genocide, just encouragement.

Good to see an old 2+2er and SMPer turn out to be such a fine and successful person.

Good luck to him

wonder if anyone wore a Jewish star to the WSOP.

I am aware they are within their rules to make such a demand.

I just think it’s ridiculous to demand someone remove a garment representing Gazans/Palestinians/Arabic people in general on the grounds that it’s deemed political, then turn around and host a fundraiser for fallen IDF soldiers’ families.

From a year ago there's this

What the hell happened , when I was younger keffieh was a fashion accessory and I had actually no idea it was some palestinian artefact.

And red baseball hats weren't political either

so they invade Syria and expel a bunch of people from their homes, drop hundreds of bombs, and are now firing at civilians.

but they are gonna say that they dont interfere with Syria? words just have different meanings to the IDF and its supporters.

There were guys with Israeli flags at wsop this summer but they were actually Israelis. Seems a bit one sided to me but the context is a bit different. Bonomo is looking to stir up controversy but the wsop also has a track record of making the worst decisions possible so…

The real victims of clowns like Bonomo are of course Palestinians. the Bonomo's of the world are so divisive and repulsive, they reflexively make people want nothing to do with the Palestinian cause. I see a white guy in a Keffiyeh or waving a Palestinian flag, and the last thing I would want to do is engage with them at all or hear anything they have to say.

Having an articulate, nuanced perspective that is fairly critical of the actions of the Israeli regime is fine. But I know I am not going to get any of that from some clown in a Keffiyeh. All I am going to get is unreasonable, unbalanced nonsense.

Houthis have hit Tel Aviv with a ballistic missile again. In the modern western world it is an interesting ethical question how to deal with belligerent psychopaths who have absolutely no regard for the millions of people they hold hostage who weaponize your own empathy against you.

Because of the distance involved and lack of intelligence there is no way to target the Houthis themselves. Israel could go after infrastructure, but in this context there is really no way to go about this without dramatically impacting the Yemeni people themselves.

Bonomo wants special consideration. He wants to make political statements in a poker tournament. Not the place. Not sure what is hard to understand about that.

Am I to take it from this that you don't believe that a lot of white nationalists, who almost definitionally don't like Muslims, are going to be biased in favour of whomever is killing them?

You do realize white nationalists hate Jews, too. Right?

Politics. The long, dull, hard graft of politics.

There is nothing else. Military and violence can't do it now, even if it ever could. The idea of buffer zones and threats only being from nearby is disappearing fast. Part of the tragedy of what netanyahu is doing to Israel is the classic mistake of fighting the last war. The future of war/terrorism aint going to be nothing like that.
