Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
do you realize many people moved to the right because they fully disagree with your side definition of racism, and with the idea of being criticized for what they think about race that for them isn't racism at all but for you it is? leftist sanctimony on the topic does move people to the right on the topic.
When it becomes racist to list measurable race differences in outcomes we already passed that line a long ago.
Asians in the US tend to come from higher-class, more educated and privileged backgrounds than black people, so they're less likely to be obese, which is an indicator of consuming mass-marketed junk food.
I think luciom got mad I called him modable
The "Yeah so I'm a racist so what?" is often downstream of the hyper-aggressive social censorship.
Which then the majority of the left tell themselves more censorship is needed.
It’s because too many care more about social perception, even if it worsens the problem, rather than actually solving the problem at the expense of social criticism.

I fully agree with the first part of your post that sanctimony and messaging around this topic has driven people to the right (well, to be honest it's more like the right has seized upon an opportunity to foment people's worst tendencies but the sanctimony has not helped).
However you are so disingenuous about this stuff. No one is arguing the differences in outcomes among races. Just your dumbass discredited claim that this is solely due to race which is just so, so, so dumb of you to even say.
It is not given the context was "mississippi political leaders are terrible, look at their death at birth rates". My answer "they are 36% black vs 12% nationwide".
There is no need to even discuss WHY blacks have higher mortality at birth, but we should all agree Mississippi death at birth rates aren't caused by local politics, rather by the fact they have a lot more blacks than the nation average.
Especially, i repeat, if blacks in democrat-governed states have higher death at birth rates as well
Why could marginalized communities who have significant socioeconomic hurdles have measurably different outcomes. I know...eugenics! How can you be that stupid.
There are a lot of morons who saw a couple videos, maybe 2, maybe 3 or 4, of the absolutely wildest people who went overboard and said something like using the wrong pronoun or watching Joe Rogan is worse than a billion Hitlers and they use that in their little smooth brains to justify every one of their reactionary notions. That's Luciom and the people he's describing and they already were "to the right" they just weren't quite as loud about it maybe.
The way forward for the left is to acknowledge some of the harsh truths and the historical impact of race associated with nationhood, but to make the argument that we look toward the future rather than the past.
A future oriented view promotes a unifying culture over a unifying race. This unifying culture should include a (mostly) forward looking national identity, but much of the left disastrously associates national identity with the right.
Doubling down and trying to make the hyper censorious, Woke culture the unifying culture—good luck with that.
And Luciom self-identifies as a racist. Arguing about whether the words in one particular word rectangle are *necessarily* racist is dumb. He's a racist.
The way forward for the left is to just tell all the people who say "woke culture" that they are ****ing morons and then do their best to fight when the stormtroopers come to drag them off to camps. The bad guys win a lot in the real world.
I stopped discussing race as much as i could in this forum because of the utter bad faith of the moderation on that topic.
But recently when a guy uses obesity rates by state to claim given republican led states have more obese people that proves they are worse at governance, i just answered claiming republican led states with high obesity almost always have more blacks and natives (which is the case, objectively) and THAT is why their obesity rates are higher, it has nothing to do with state pol
The conclusion doesn’t follow from the premises of your argument, which was pointed out to you multiple times.

wokeness does exist, denying that makes you look insane. even though you are totally right about the latent potential for american fascism.
A little less Luc talk as he is taking a short break. Thx
Don't permanent ban him please. I say that for purely selfish reasons as I find his rants bizarrely entertaining. Those offended can stick him on ig and I can continue to marvel at the phenomenon that is Luciom. He's like X lite.
Ignore doesn't work at all well for such high volume posters with people responding to them often - ask diebitter who's often complained about it. (Just saying, not asking for a perma for him).

If ignore worked at all I'd agree. It doesn't and this whole forum turns into a Luciom-fest.
If anything I think this is a good time to talk about him
There is no way to avoid this guy and he comes with MASSIVE volume. He has steadily gotten more and more unhinged while carrying a near 100 posts per day. He derails every thread in this forum with an extremism and overt racism that even the far right posters react with ‘dude chill’
I would like to hear the argument to not make this ban permanent
I think Luciom is less bigoted and authoritarian than the average Trump supporter. Any rule that is banning Luciom on content alone is just going to logically entail banning all Trump supporters (and I mean maga, not people who merely voted Trump).
Now if the mods don’t want to deal with him because he posts too much or he is too off topic, that’s something different. But the idea that Luciom is a special kind of evil poster seems strange to me.
Speaking of the people who merely voted for Trump (Independents), based on sampling this forum, it seems it’s going to take more than the two million deficit to get the left to wake up.
It might take Vance winning by ten million Independents before the left will truly start to wake up.
Lucio reminds me of TruthSayer in BFI. A controversial figure with a correct opinion on just about any subject. A lot of posters would complain that he sucked all the air out of the room and they were somewhat correct but Tooth ended up banned and all the people who complained about him stopped posting and now the forum is basically dead.
The most activity that forum has received in the last 3 years is old posters jumping out the wood work to beat up on maximus who got permabanned (probably) here
