Even funnier is when you filter victor’s posts containing the word ‘Obama’ 1 year ago and older this post from 2017 is his most recent one

Beyond this post is 2008 **** like above from a closed thread

This dude got radicalized hard. I blame the woke leftist school system

by StoppedRainingMen m

In 17 years Victor went from this post to β€˜libs are Nazis cuz something something something’

Never let it be said people can’t evolve

pretty sick humble brag iidssm.

by coordi m

Maybe it’s a big coincidence but seems like this is the 2nd time the forum has been ddos right after a troll ate a ban

What is ddos?

Of all the reasons to poke fun at victor, β€œhe had different opinions 8 years ago” might be the worst.

He apparently changed drastically when he went from making 6 figures to being unemployed.

Who didn’t have some dumb opinions when they were younger? They don’t say “With age comes wisdom” for nothing…

Of course, if you’re mongidig or lozen (and especially geezerchess), “age comes alone”

I don’t really know or care anything about victor’s personal life except that he is an American that supports terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah (which arguably on the American thing is a personal thing of his), but if this is true it wouldn’t surprise me that his opinions drastically changed. People get radicalized over far less.

A lot of people hadn't realised how dire things were.

Ok

I am not interested in Victor specifically, but I am interested in the question of whether there are personality traits that make people attracted to extremism. I would guess that the following traits are more common in people attracted to extreme beliefs:

--"Seeker" tendencies (i.e., search for meaning)
--Naivete
--Insecurity mixed with a need to feel morally superior
--Tunnel vision
--Longing for community

But that's just a guess. I'm sure that there have been a million books and studies devoted to this question, and I certainly haven't read all of them.

There obviously are well-established life circumstances that fuel certain types of extremism as well. Running off to fight with the Taliban is less attractive if you have a job and reasonable prospects for the future.

I am interested in the personality traits that makes a person attracted to the murderous US Empire. like, to me its not extremist to oppose the major force for evil over many generations.

I am interested in the personality traits that makes a person attracted to the murderous Russian Empire. What makes a person masturbate to dead Ukrainian children?

I definitely think those are in there, but on a more basic level being a young man who recently had a drastic change in their economic or social status can be another big driver of extremism.

Like the recent Charlie Kirk shooter. I’m sure that going from a beloved mormon wunderkind to being considered a loser by your friends and family (deserved or not) can make someone go from a self-described apolitical moderate to a political assassin.

I do think that you’re right that this would not be enough and there has to be some underlying personality traits as well. Maybe even some kind of genetic predisposition, as difficult as this would be to prove it might explain the background population of extremists in society being relatively stable.

genetically predisposed to opposing fascism. maybe man.

by Victor m

genetically predisposed to opposing fascism. maybe man.

Why not? Why is it that people with relatively similar life circumstances end up on completely opposite sides of issues? You don’t think genetics plays any role?

Why are you concerned about Victor having different opinions 8 years ago?

I’m not concerned about him having different opinions 8 years ago. We’re discussing what causes radicalization in general, not anything personal to victor. It’s a difference between sociology and psychoanalysis.

nah, you are definitely talking about me and taking for granted that chillrob (you know, the guy who advocated murdering everyone in Gaza AND a 6 year old black boy from Virginia) was correct with his idiotic contention that I moved from reflexively supporting lol Democrats to realizing that #ItsTheSamePicture due to losing a job.

the reason for radicalization is propaganda and culture. it is why you guys support murdering people for fun and profit.

Strong reaction to injustice. Especially to others.

I know this is your catchphrase and everything, but it simply isn't true at all. Just because people don’t repeat the same ****ing thing every other post, does not mean they support deaths caused by elected officials.

I can't speak for crd, but I wasn't talking about you. I also don't know anything about your employment history.

"Extremists care inordinately about others" is a wild take.

half the board supports Trump and half supports the Obama/Biden/Clinton/Graham Platner Dems.
