Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
Catholic schools do not serve meat to students on Fridays during Lent. They don’t ban them from eating meat, they just don’t provide it as far as I know.
can you bring your own food in the USA as a kid in school? we could in Italy 20-30 years ago then communists with the excuse of "health safety" (because food could be shared and some other kid could be allergic and bullshit like that) they banned it.
ofc the reason was to maximize the revenue of private ONG supplyont food to schools (which are overwhelmingly leftist ONG).
we don't have canteens in schools on Italy anymore

Have you ever eaten worm cheese?
yes I had a Sardinian Gf 20+ years ago and her dad brought it from the island.
not as awesome as I would have thought, doesn't deserve the hassle these days to find "in the black market"
...Why would you expect cheese that has worms in it to be awesome? I just can't wrap my head around that, sorry.

because I expected some ultra strong, impossible otherwise flavor.
my priors were something like "insane flavorsz small quantities here and there can't be matched by anything".
reality was "decent, if I hadn't been told it had worms and hadn't looked close enough I would have thought it was just a strong cheese"
Conservatives are, at heart, terrified of change. It's the root of most of their misguided ideas.
"The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected. Even when the revolutionist might himself repent of his revolution, the traditionalist is already defending it as part of his tradition. Thus we have the two great types—the advanced person who rushes us into ruin, and the retrospective person who admires the ruins. He admires them especially by moonlight, not to say moonshine. Each new blunder of the progressive or prig becomes instantly a legend of immemorial antiquity for the snob. This is called the balance, or mutual check, in our Constitution...
It would be all right if the innovators really had new ideas they had adopted recently, and the traditionalists really had old ideas that they treasured still. But the reactionary is only clinging to revolutions of which even the revolutionist is weary. He is merely a man one generation behind in the general disillusion about the last discovery. The only sort of reform proposed is one which Conservatives will treat as convention as soon as it is established; and which reformers are already treating as a convention even before it is established. It is true in a sense to say that things will be worse before they are better. But it is truer still to say that we shall have to go even further back before we can get any further forward."
That hot new progressive idea turns into that's how we've always done it soon enough. Especially once some economies have built up around it--prohibition>>cops, jails etc

More often than not, hot new progressive ideas are just old ideas for the modern world. Interestingly enough, history is where both the answers and the mistakes are often found.

Would you accept all legal consequence (fees, etc) if your kid contributed to another kid death by giving him allergens food ?
FWIW I think it’s like only nuts , peanuts are forbidden in primary school here .
I guess we are communist too ….
I can say one thing for certain. Luciom knows less about school lunch in the U.S. than he does about any topic in the world.
Unfortunately I don't think it's just the money, they would rather everyone's brain stays fogged up so we're more submissive to our rulers and don't rise up to our freedoms being taken away. One of the first things people notice on pure carnivore is their brains because crystal clear. It's indescribable, but it's real (which explains why it cures psychological disorders). The horrible food pyramid SAD diet is detrimental to two very important parts of our body: our guts and our brains, which do
So, what doesn't the carnivore diet cure? Seems like that list would be shorter for you to list each time.
But hey, I haven't had meat in way too long to do an experiment, so maybe some omni folks here could eat pure carnie for 7 days and see if they feel the magic or not. I'm guessing the only thing they'd feel is a brick in their ass while trying to defecate.
Yeah, and they look like Oprah and/or put up her numbers.
yes it's communism as the law forbids food to be brought in. that's the rule in Italy and I think several other countries in the EU.
not sure about the USA.
I am paying for meals where my kids eat perhaps 200 calories, often less, because non meat food requires higher quality to be tasty and satisfying and ofc school meals can't reach that outside of pasta in Italy.
if I could send the UberEATS requivalent in j would but I can't by law
Man, if only there was someone from the USA as concerned about communism in Italian middle school cafeterias as you are about communism in vegan school lunches in the USA.
