President Elon Musk

He probably deserves his own thread at this point, discuss accordingly

One of my very favourite things is when some ignoramus starts talking about Africa as if it's a single country.

Imagine how i feel when they talk about "europe".

But yes i agree

so now you're pro tariffs mb? i find it interesting few acknowledge in the "free trade is the only way" club that we had among the highest tariffs in the world up until we went full world hegemon post wwii - as i seem to recall, we did pretty well as a result of those tariffs letting our native production thrive

will read that one, i read chang's 23 things and found it interesting but wish he were better at prose as he's not a very gripping writer like greene who can write drivel but make it incredibly fascinating

It's impossible to talk about complicated things on this forum, and really you're pretty bad at jumping to conclusions and assuming people are saying something they aren't. And no one seems to ever get that positive statements are not always normative.

I have not read the 23 Things. I found the Kicking Away the Ladder book to be excellent, though not necessarily saying he's a great writer.

As for the nuance, tariffs are not always the same and it's very different between developed countries and other developed countries and between developed countries and developing countries.

Except politically and economically, Europe is kind of a thing.

I suppose that's why Meloni was at Trump inauguration and no "european political representative" was

Yeah but it's still a diverse continent consisting of many different nations and cultures, like Africa. I actually feel the same way as Luciom does whenever I hear that also, I gotta say.

This is another attempt to control information. They hate science so they will just shut it down.

In response to the prospect of potential cuts of personnel, budget or mission at Noaa, Beth Lowell, US vice-president of the ocean conservation non-profit Oceana, said doing so “will have a ripple effect that sacrifices the communities, jobs, and coastal economies that rely on healthy oceans. And the National Weather Service, part of Noaa, provides daily weather forecasts and lifesaving storm alerts that protect our communities across the country and mariners at sea.”

I guess musk would rather have a blithering idiot draw hurricane paths with a sharpie.

I don't think what Elon's been doing lately was just to "cut costs in gov't". This is looking more like a data grab which is leading to criminal investigations and a perfect way to get them to drop what they're all doing while not being able to delete anything (like killery did). They found things on NOAA, which is supposed to be a politically neutral national weather service, to force them to admit global warming is a real threat to our future and that we need to cut using gas cars (climate change has been happening forever, it's cyclical, and there's nothing we can do to stop it).

Will trump sign a new executive order allowing immigrants from Africa to be president? (don't wanna panic any of the trump haters or anything).

“You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” the account wrote in September. “Normalize Indian hate,” a separate post from that month read.

In July of last year, the account posted: “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool.”

In other posts, from December, the account pushed for repealing the Civil Rights Act and shared: “I just want a eugenic immigration policy, is that too much to ask.”

I present to you one of the MuskBros who was given unlimited access to the financials of the federal government

The only surprising thing is that he resigned.

That truly is shocking.

The only surprising thing is that he resigned.

That definitely surprised me

Co-President Musk is on track rn to be awarded The Presidential Metal of Freedom (ainec).

These findings are just the tip of the iceberg. The Best is yet to come.

a judge blocked him anyway (pending review if I understand correctly) from accessing data (ruled that for now only treasury employees can, and not "special employees) so he had nothing to do anyway.

given the skills he has shown and the hatred he has attracted by the people who are trying to hide their malfeasances, I hope he gets hired inside the treasury department (if that rules stands) and resumes accessing data asap.

unclear why him being a racist should matter in the slightest

When people have their data mined, they prefer them to not be racists.

Nothing there is particularly surprising to me. Everything is either something I assumed the US government already does or is something I'm glad to hear they're doing.

I don't see anything making an effort to control my mind.

Exactly who do you think is trying to hide their malfeasances? I don't think many people would stay in jobs for long where they felt what they were doing was harmful to the country.
Nearly everyone considers themselves to be one of the "good guys".

A ton of people related to the democratic party and some RINO republicans and adjacent people as well. You know, most american beneficiaries of USAID money . It's 20-30 billions of political gifts per year to them, all fully unjustified in terms of american taxpayers advantages.

They know that when exposed in full the 10M to do some random bullshit thing in indonesia and spend only 800k on actual indonesian people with 9.2m being sinecures to democrats for doing literally nothing other than being democrats is undefensible. And no , until exposed, they will keep raking in the money

I'm most looking forward to DOGE identifying HOW billions+ were misappropriated so badly. Someones gotta start paying the price.

Are these treason trials going to be televised or just the firing squads killing American citizens?

Is there any real evidence of fraud yet? Or we still in 'baseless accusations' land?

by diebitter k

Fraud in the legal sense can only be proved after you also get access to the internal accounting of the receiving entity. Which i suppose is what Trump DOJ will do extensively following DOGE preliminary findings.

Can't be fraud legally until you prove the money has been spent for something different from what it was legally earmarked.

But, we can already claim a monstrous amount of insane projects with absolutely no rationale from the american taxpayers pow has been financed by usaid, often without explicit congressional approval, and each and every one of those destinations of taxpayers money is a waste, a scam, fraudulent, not in the legal sense but rather in the common sense way we use those words: democrats (with the help of RINOs) legally siphoned huge amounts of money every year for decades and pocketed them with large networks of professional grifters.

You want consider funding transgender operas in Bolivia or awareness of puberty blockers in Pakistan (on paper, because most of the money for those projects just went to some democrat-aligned person pretending to do the above) is a proper destination of taxpayers funds. The elected politicians who won the elections don't.

Gee, why doesn't anyone take Luciom seriously?

We can start with the $4 billion Musk got in 2024 to play space boy and litter rocket feces onto peoples homes.
